Chapter 156: Sailing

"Are you out of your damn mind? These kids always win the tournament every year! Why did you agree to have— "

"Nora calm down."

"No father! She’s going to embarrass our family!"

"How is she going to embarrass us when she’s not a member of our family?" Cal asked. "Humans are always careless."

"Let her compete... I don’t want to help her."

"I wouldn’t help too!"

Ava rolled her eyes inwardly.

"Is the boat ready?" she asked Ernesto. Matthew had his own but Ernesto insisted that they use his deck boat since the other party will also use a deck boat.

"Y— Yes."

"Then we are going..." Ava smiled.

"Just the two of you?"

"Yes."

She looked at Matthew and the latter just nodded at her while holding her waist. She knew that Matthew was just giving her what she wanted. Of course, she found it cute.

She wasn’t born rich. Growing up in the foster care, Ava had experienced some really bad stuff. She was lucky Gabriella found her. However, Gabriella wasn’t someone that would spoil her children. Ava grew up working for everything that she wanted.

Of course, that was a little complicated especially if you were a witch who didn’t know how to control your magick.

Right now, she found it really nice and comforting that Matthew was giving her whatever she wanted. The man was spoiling her.

And well... she kinda like it.

"The rules are simple..." Marlena said. "I am not sure if you are familiar since this is your first time fishing. But you can’t catch a fish smaller than thirty centimeters."

"Thirty?" Ava smiled. "That’s a bit large..."

"We do that to prevent the extinction of our Salmons."

Ava nodded. "Of course." She walked towards Marlena as she started to wonder why she acted like a child earlier. How could a simple gaze make her angry?

That didn’t make any sense!

Ava scrutinized the woman for the umpteenth time. Marlena didn’t have magick in her body. This meant that Ava didn’t react because of Magick.

"We can only fish for four hours. After that... we compare and see who has the biggest catch."

"Right." Ava nodded. "So why not make it more challeging?"

"What?"

"I mean... let’s catch something bigger than forty centimeters."

"What?"

When Marlena’s friends and even Nora and her brother heard her words, most of them had a look of disbelief on their faces. Clearly, they thought she was not being serious.

"Miss Ava... I think you are taking this too far," Ernesto said. "Mr. Graydon... this is Miss Ava’s first time..."

"Let her do what she want’s Ernesto." Matthew instantly cut him off. "She is just enjoying herself. As long as she’s having fun, there is no problem."

Ernesto blinked. Everyone around them blinked.

Even Ava blinked. Then she smiled. "Alright... we should start."

"Why only take one person? You can take a few of your friends," Marlena said.

"I only need him." Ava responded. She winked at the woman before marching towards the port where the fishing boat was located.

"You really are a bit troublesome..." Matthew noted.

"Don’t you like it when I cause trouble?"

"I like it but only when we’re alone..." Matthew whispered. "Because then I can easily punish you."

Ava elbowed him. She couldn’t help but blush at his words. "Stop teasing me..."

"Am I?"

Before they could get on the boat, Ava stopped. "We will be alone on the boat." Seeing the surprise in the man’s eyes, she chuckled and started walking again.

It didn’t take more than a few seconds for Matthew to catch up to her.

"Are you trying to insinuate something?"

"Are I?" she countered and laughed. "You know how to drive this thing, right?"

"I can try. "

"Hey!" Ava’s expression turned serious. "Don’t tell me— "

"Relax... I even know how to drive you crazy. This should be easy."

Her jaw dropped.

Was that a joke?

Because it wasn’t funny at all.

Was she supposed to laugh?

Seeing Matthew’s serious expression, Ava said. "That wasn’t really funny..."

"It wasn’t meant to be?" Matthew smirked at her before he started the boat.

And just like that, they started sailing.

....

"That woman is weird," Cal noted as he watched Matthew and Ava’s boat from afar. Though the two was far away from the where they were. Cal could still see them clearly. "She’s sun bathing."

"So she’s not doing the fishing? Isn’t that something that we already expected?"

"But father... they are too calm. Clearly, they don’t know what kind of person Carlos and his children are." Earlier, Matthew and Ava actually agreed to give Marlena everything that she wanted if she won. Now, what kind of deal was that? It’s either, they had confidence that they will win or they were simply crazy!

"I’d say they are just crazy," Cal’s friend John Michael sigh. "Mr. Graydon must have brought her here to enjoy. I could never understand those rich shifters."

"I know right?"

"Hey you shouldn’t talk like that in front of Nora. She likes Mr. Graydon."

The group of men chuckled while Nora scowled at them.

"I should have gone too," Nora said.

"And did what?"

"At least I could help out. She’s clearly not helping him. He was doing all the— wait— " Nora squinted. "Something’s weird."

"What is it?"

"Look at Marlena and her brother... they don’t look too happy?"

"I thought they were going to win this?"

"They haven’t caught anything yet!" Nora said. "Look!"

"And? Its normal... they just started!"

"Mr. Graydon already got one!" Nora said. "Mr. Graydon and that woman were too calm. It looked like they were having a date but they already got one! Oh.... Wait... they got a second one! What’s happening?"

"Huh? How is that even possible?"

Since Ernesto and his company were all shifters they could clearly see what Matthew and Ava was doing. Matthew was shirtless while Ava was lying on her stomach. She even removed her bra as Matthew rubbed lotion on her back.

Once the pole will move, Matthew would check it. If there was a fish, he would take care of it, put the bait back and then sit back down next to Ava and continue tending to her.

The two were casually talking and laughing.

"This— How could they catch two large King Salmon in like... thirty minutes?" Nora asked.
