Chapter 161: Wine

"Mr. Caro..." Matthew smiled at the man without getting up from Jude’s chair. "I expected you to come but... I didn’t expect it would be this quick."

Leonardo Caro forced a smile. "If I had known that a Royal Lycan would visit this site then I would have prepared something grand." He held his hand towards Matthew. "Though I am well aware of who you are, I believe it is proper etiquette that we introduce ourselves. I am Leonardo Caro, Assistant Deputy Director of Operations inside Trillium."

"Matthew Graydon." Matthew said without shaking the man’s hands. "You may take your seat Mr. Caro. I would prefer to talk like this."

"Dad..."

"We will talk about this later." Leonardo uttered. "Now... would you mind arranging us some..." his eyes landed on the bottle of whiskey in his son’s hand. "Some tea..."

"I—"

"I prefer to have my conversations over wine," Matthew said. "Thank you."

"Well then... since Mr. Graydon likes wine. Go ahead and fetch us your finest one"

"Alright."

Seeing his son leave them, Leonardo sat acrross Matthew. "So... can you please tell me why a Lycan would visit trillium unannounced?"

"My witch." Matthew went straight to the point. "I want my witch."

"You mean... Miss Woods?"

"Yes."

"I’m afraid I can’t give her to you."

"Why is that?"

"I’m sure my son has already explained the fact that Miss Woods is still considered an employee of Trillium. She is one of ours."

"Is this how Trillium treats their employees?" Matthew asked. "Betray them?"

"Trillium has never betrayed Miss Woods."

"Yeah... tell that to your son."

Leonardo Caro pursed his lips. "Trillium isn’t going to give her up."

"You lost that privilege when you tried to frame her brother for her mother’s death."

"Either way, she is still one of ours. We suspended her because of what she did. And now, her suspension has been lifted. I’m sure you understand how it works, right?" freewebnσvel.cøm

"I want Ava."

"And I already said this... we can’t give you what you want."

Matthew narrowed his eyes on him. "You really think I would do nothing to Trillium."

"I’m sure you can do lots of things. After all, you are the future king of the Lycans." Leonardo made sure to emphasize the word ’future’. He was silently telling Matthew that he wasn’t the king... yet.

"You really want to test my patience... Mr. Caro?" Matthew asked.

"I wouldn’t dare."

"I might look like a powerless prince but..." Matthew sneered. "I know all officers and agents working in North America Mr. Caro." Matthew looked outside the window. As if on cue, a lightning lit up the dark skies. "Do you know how many people die by car accidents during a dark rainy night?" he asked.

"Are you perhaps threatening Trillium?"

"I was asking a question." Matthew said. "I presume you don’t know the answer, right?"

"What is your point?"

"One point three million die by road accidents every year," Matthew said. "It is believed that forty six percent of those... accidents had something to do with the weather. Wet streets, dark rainy nights, snow. You name it."

"Are you— Are you threatening to kill our people, Mr. Graydon?"

"Am I?" Matthew lifted an eyebrow. "You see... I love facts and numbers. So, I tend to just talk about them when I have the free time."

"I don’t understand." Leonardo still had that fake smile on his face. "What does it have to do with Miss Woods’ incident?"

"Nothing." Matthew said. "Just saying that the forty six percent might increase... very soon."

"You—"

"I want Ava back at my side unscathed. If I see even a small scratch on her body. I would make you pay Mr. Caro. No." Matthew smirked. He leaned forward just as his eyes completely turned golden. "I would make... trillium pay."

"Mr. Graydon... do you really think that you can just threaten Trillium because you are a Lycan Prince?"

"And do you really think I care about being a Lycan Prince?" Matthew got something from his jacket pocket and pushed it towards Mr. Caro. "The number of supernatural occurrences around the world has increased. One pack of werewolves are killing people in Bogota. Another town in Mexico is well known for witches who sells love potions... illegally. With social media and the internet... what do you think will happen if these photos were released to the public?"

Mr. Leonardo Caro snatched the envelope and looked at the photos of the hybrids that Matthew had killed in the past.

"You— "

"I know about the Hybrids Mr. Caro. I know about Keepers too."

"You—"

"Let’s assume that Trillium supports this activities. Do you really think that the rest of the shifter communities would like this? Witches are... going to get stronger if they get ahold of hybrids. Do you really think they would let the witches do what they want?"

"Where did you get this?"

"I have my sources." Matthew smiled. He leaned back and rested his hand on the arm rests. "You can stop me from exposing this to the media. But can you really stop the rumors from spreading? Shifters would question Trillium while the witches would fight them. Chaos would ensue. And you can brace yourself for the after effects. And I guess you know what would happen to you if trillium would lose their authority to rule, right?"

"You are going to expose the existence of supernatural just because of a damn witch?"

"Damn witch?" Matthew snorted. "That damn witch that you are talking about? Is MY witch. Now... you can sit down here and wait for me to do it or you are going to keep Ava safe."

"I thought you want her back?"

"I want her back... safely."

"You are planning something."

"That is none of your business."

"You are crazy!" Mr. Caro said. He looked at Jude who stood not far away from him, stupefied. "Just because of a damn woman you are going to watch us burn?"

"With my wine..." Matthew said. "I would gladly watch you burn... while drinking my wine."
