Ava looked around the small circular room where she would be staying for the time being. The room looked like it was just about six feet in diameter. Its circular design made the room smaller. There was no bed. Just a small mat that was supposed to be enough for the inmates. Sadly, there was no pillow either.
A toilet seat and a small sink were located just by the door.
The only source of light was a small bulb on the high ceiling. It stayed on for eight hours and off for the rest of the day. Basically, the prisoners couldn’t do anything aside from exercise.
Ava scowled. She smelled like blood.
Ava didn’t really dislike the smell of blood but lately, she found the smell calming. Refreshing even.
She looked at the camera that was pointed her way and smiled. That’s right. Each room had its own cameras and the video could only be accessed by a high-ranking official. They made it like this because they knew that only the nastiest supernatural would be placed in this part of the prison. And they would want to keep an eye on those people.
By now, Karena must have figured that this was Ava’s plan all along. Inside the tombs, they couldn’t touch Ava. And once Jude released the photo, those people would panic.
What are you going to do now?
Ava decided to lie down on the mat. The concrete floor was cold. But she knew it wouldn’t be as cold as the iron walls that surrounded her.
Indeed.
The security in this place was impressive.
Closing her eyes, she thought of Matthew. She wondered if he listened to her words. Was he mad? Did he think it was an ultimate betrayal?
The fact that she didn’t tell him about her plans beforehand should be enough to make him mad, right?
In her defense, she knew that Matthew would never let her do this. It was a crazy plan. Too risky! Too irrational!
But did she have any other choice?
Was she supposed to wait while her brother rotted? Or until those people created more hybrids?
She needed to know... now!
"Ava?"
Ava almost flinched when she heard the old shaman’s voice inside her ... dream?
Wait...
"Can you hear me?"
At first, the voice sounded like an echo. And as much as she wanted to say something, she couldn’t.
"I am inside your dream now. This is the only way to communicate. I have talked to Matthew about your plans."
Ava bit her lower lip.
Strange.
She felt the pain in her lips.
She couldn’t help but wonder if she was really dreaming.
"Listen to me... and listen well..." the Shaman said. "Babaylan saw something."
Shaman Gaas continued. "The Witches are planning something. They are going to use you and Matthew. Now... I know how stubborn you are. I have explained this to Matthew but he thinks that rescuing you is his priority. He doesn’t care about the witch’s scheme." freewebnσvel.cѳm
Ava let out a sigh. Oh, Matthew.
She knew this would happen. But she just hoped that the old man would be able to change Matthew’s mind.
She was foolish. After everything, she needed to do something about their communications and secrets.
"Now stubborn woman... since you are there... this is the best time to practice your ability. We don’t know if it might become useless in the next coming hours. Remember what I told you, you already did it once. It wouldn’t be too hard to do it again. If you are in any danger... just think of the plane that you went to when that explosion occured. If you are lucky, it will save you. For now, I will try to stop Matthew. If he doesn’t stop, I will be forced to render him unconscious for a couple of hours. That should be enough... right?"
Ava wanted to say something.
She really wanted to say that...
"Ava?"
Ava tried to calm her breathing.
"Mind is a very powerful thing." Shaman Gaas said. "Use it."
"Ha!" Ava jolted up, gasping for air. Sweat already drenched the back of her gray prisoner uniform. She immediately used the seam of her shirt to wipe the sweat on her forehead. "Ha!"
That was proof that the Shaman could use his ability even when there was iron nearby. The fact that Ava was surrounded by Iron was proof of how powerful the Shaman was.
Ava stared at the iron doors of the room.
It should be about time, right?
......
Karena was shaking when she opened the message on her phone.
"What is—" she immediately dialed the number of Assistant Deputy Caro. "Sir? The video..."
"Did you take care of her?" Leonardo Caro sounded serious on the other line.
"That— I won’t be able to do that anytime soon. We need to change our plans." Karena said. "She’s in the tombs."
"What?"
"She killed three and gravely wounded about six people minutes after she walked inside that hell hole. Now, they sent her inside."
"I expected her to be able to defend herself but I didn’t expect her to be this clever. However, we need to proceed. This is the only way to drag the Lycans in this war."
"Sir, I don’t think that is possible. Now that the video is out, most shifters are— "
Beep
Beep
Karena looked at her phone. Almost immediately, her face turned ugly. "I need to call the Deputy."
"I will take care of the Deputy. You just have to take care of Ava Woods. Do you understand me?’
"I’m sorry but the Deputy is calling me."
With that, Karena ended the call.
"Sir? Mr. Miles good evening."
"Where is she?" the man on the other line sounded calm. But for someone like Karena who worked with the Deputy before, she knew that the man’s calm facade was fake.
"She’s in the tombs."
"Bring her out. Someone wants to talk to her."
"But sir, she just killed three prisoners— "
"I know Miss Spencer. I want you to follow my orders. I am on my way there."
"Sir?"
Sadly, the call had already ended.
However, Karena didn’t panic. Instead, she dialed the Assistant Deputy’s number and informed him that the Deputy was personally going to visit Ava. Now... that was one hell of an emergency.
