"What the fuck! Hey, Newbie! Can you hear us?" A man’s voice reached Ava.
She looked to her left and saw three men walking her way. All of them were armed with a sword, all of them were wearing what looked like a knight’s uniform.
Ava squinted when the uniform reflected the light inside the coliseum.
"You already won... are you planning to fight again? I suggest you buy some potion to the infirmary to recover then come here when you are ready. We don’t know when another newbie is going to come, so..."
"Oh..." Ava got up.
"Come on... let me lead you to the infirmary. And to claim your prize."
"Oh?" Ava looked at the man.
"Right. You didn’t know. Come on... I will tell you about this Arena." One of the men turned around and started walking towards a door that Ava didn’t notice earlier. No. Earlier, there was no door in that place.
Was it hidden?
"Ah, the door only appears once one of the occupants inside the floor dies." The man answered as If he could hear the questions in her head. Since you are new, I am going to assume you are an other- worlder?"
"Yes."
The man looked at her.
"You wanted to go home?"
"Yes."
The man nodded.
"I hope you won’t change your mind soon."
"What does that mean?" Ava wiped her face.
"You will know soon."
The man lead her outside and into a street that was full of people. Various weapons were placed on the sidewalk and some were weapons that she doesn’t even recognize.
"This— "
"Is different from what you expected?" the man chuckled. "To the people inside the Pits, this place is dirty. They won’t dare tell you the truth about it."
"What does that mean?"
"This place is a small realm. We call it a pocket realm. It’s just about a hundred miles in diameter. It’s like a large town. Unlike Earth, this place could only feel the heat of the sun for six hours. The rest is dark. That Arena is like a portal that would produce monsters that you have to defeat if you want to leave this place."
"Monsters?"
"Yes. If you want to leave this place you have to kill monsters. The first fifty floors will have fifty different monsters. After that... you have to fight your way to the top."
"Top?"
"The hundredth floor."
"And I assume there will be no monsters starting from the fifty-first floor?"
"Yes. Starting from the fifty-first floor, you fight against other people from Earth and The Pits."
"And I have to beat ten people to get out?"
"Kinda. You will be given a choice on every tenth floor. You can leave if you want to or gain more rewards as you continue."
"Continue?"
"You seriously have no clue?" the man looked at her. "Nevermind, you must be really new. Yes. You will get rewards every time you win and you get to own that seat."
"A— seat? Like a ranking?"
"Similar. But every floor starting from the fifty-first floor is like a pocket dimension with its own realm. Small ones. However, they are equipped with everything. Mansion, servants, money. This is why some chose to stay."
Ava turned quiet.
For some reason, this setup reminded her of an online game and maybe some Japanese Anime about games and dungeons.
How strange.
"Who created this place?" Ava couldn’t help but ask.
"We don’t know."
"So... what do you know about this place?"
"Ah, this lady... our lives just revolve around the Arena. My job is to bring the survivor to the infirmary and tell you about what you are supposed to do. Then, you can collect your price and pay me."
"Pay?"
"Oh... you thought this was for free?"
Ava looked at the man, speechless. She thought the knightlike man was just trying to help her. Who would have thought that this isn’t actually free?
But then again, the man is just trying to survive, right?
She frowned and thought of how the Shaman told her to bring gold.
That old man....
Does he know about this Arena?
After a few more minutes, they finally arrived in what they call an infirmary. Apparently, this place is only for the ones who had little to no wounds. The ones for the fatally wounded were nearer and much more accessible.
A priest examined Ava and made sure that she is fine before asking for a payment. Even though Ava didn’t need any potion, the priest asked her for one gold as a fee!
Ava could only sigh inwardly.
She couldn’t really tell them, no, right?
After all, she had a feeling that she would frequent this place in the future.
"Alright, you can get your reward there." The man pointed at the man behind a counter. freewёbnoνel-com
"How would they know that I defeated that monster?"
"Oh... they know everyone here. You are new and you were able to get out of the first floor. It means, you survive and killed that monster. People who die wouldn’t even have the chance to register here."
Ava nodded and quickly made her registration. Then she asked the man to take her to the second floor.
"Aren’t you going to rest? Aren’t you hungry?"
"Oh..." Ava shook her head and showed the man the potion that she made. "I’m in a hurry." She opened the cover and almost immediately, the man’s face turned ugly.
"What the hell is that thing?"
Ava didn’t answer. The potion that she had been making doesn’t have any pleasant smell. And that was intentional. She was supposed to take them only if she needed them.
And right now is the perfect opportunity for her to take them.
Without hesitation, Ava finished the small vial and immediately felt her exhaustion change.
"I am fine now. We should leave." She needed to leave this floor. After all, she had yet to resolve her issue with that lunatic Josef!
"Are— Are you sure?" the man asked. "You should take a rest to recover, the second floor wouldn’t be as easy as the first."
"Yes," Ava nodded. Fighting in that place is better than dealing with Josef!
