Drigo Graydon and Kieran Graydon.
Those were the two people that immediately caught Ava’s attention when she arrived at the entrance of the King’s Palace. She had met the two before. Of course, she also met their witches. Erenes and Elizabeth. Surprisingly, Erenes was here as well but Elizabeth was nowhere to be seen.
Ava pushed the thoughts out of her head as she looked at the beautiful woman donned in a red dress.
Margery Bennet Graydon.
The most powerful woman inside this Kingdom, second only to the King.
She looked more beautiful than the image that Baba showed her. Next to her was another Lycan. Tall and beautiful. The woman was blond with foxy eyes. She looked to be six feet. But instead of looking like a model, she looked like a warrior standing next to the Queen.
"Your majesty, this is Ava Woods," Ulva uttered. Before anyone else could speak, Ulva added. "Might I suggest that we take Miss Woods inside the King’s Palace?"
"Of course," Queen Luna Margery smiled. To Ava’s surprise, the woman actually approached her and pulled her in a warm hug. "Welcome. I hope you will love our Kingdom."
The hug left as quickly as it came.
When the Queen let her go, Ava was still wondering why the woman would actually hug her in front of so many people. Maybe it was a part of etiquette but no one else spoke after that. Ulva just led Ava towards a large hall with large chandeliers hanging from its tall ceilings.
To be honest, this place looked like a church. The arcs and the design reminded her of the church that she had seen in Europe. It’s old and majestic. Ava expected to see a dark palace with moss and a sad atmosphere. But this one is actually the exact opposite of that. It’s bright and airy. It’s grand yet not that intimidating.
It had a very friendly vibe that could immediately put anyone at ease.
Ava squinted.
Then she smiled.
So... this was indeed a spell.
A very large spell was created by the large magick circle that was hidden beneath the castle’s marble floor. Whoever made it, wanted to give the impression that this is a very friendly and warm place. But was that really the case?
Ava turned her head to her left where she felt a very unwelcoming gaze.
It was Drigo and the tall woman.
When Ava met Drigo’s eye, she gave the man a smile.
"Only the Queen and I can go inside," Ulva sternly said when they reached another gigantic large door. She didn’t wait for anyone to respond as she waved her hand. The large door opened, creating an ominous squeaking that Ava had heard in some horror movies.
How frightening.
Ava couldn’t help but wonder how many people had died inside this place.
If only she could see ghosts.
That would be very convenient.
"Your Majesty," Ulva bowed at the man sitting on a large chair embellished with jewels and gold. "Your servant Ulva is here to deliver Miss Woods." Just as Ulva said this, the Queen walked towards the vacant chair next to the King. While the King’s chair was large and fancy, the Queen’s throne was smaller. But it didn’t mean that it wasn’t as fancy as the King’s.
The chair was made of velvet and gold and maybe even diamonds as it sparkled against the chandelier which only made the place... brighter.
It was still in the middle of the day and the large windows that surrounded brightened the place. Despite this, they actually turned the chandelier on. She wondered if this was magick or... electricity. If it was the latter then Ava could only say that this might be a deliberate move to make her feel more... welcomed.
It would have made her feel more wanted.
If it was magick then maybe it was just because they have so many witches that could give them the light that they don’t actually need.
Still, it was a very extravagant gesture.
"I can see why my son would like you," a deep voice reverberated in the room. It came from the only man in the room King Josiah Rowland Graydon. Despite being more than a hundred years old, the man still looked like he was still in his early forties. Black hair and bright silver eyes were indeed a reminder that he was Matthew’s father.
Aside from this, the man’s looks cannot be ignored.
Yes.
He looked good.
Definitely better than all of the actors that Ava had seen in person.
"It seems that she’s too stunned to speak?" The Queen smiled as she looked at her man lovingly. Then she looked at Ava. "When we heard that Matthew finally had an oath with a witch, we were ecstatic. That’s the reason why we immediately sent an invite. Sadly, things happen. I can only hope that you didn’t hate us for being too... bothersome. Please understand. We only wanted to know the witch that our future King trusted."
Ava blinked.
"Bothersome? Your Majesty must be jesting. How could I even think that the King and Queen of the Lycans are bothersome? Though I am young and still ignorant, I am well aware that the King and Queen are like the sun and the moon of the whole Lycan Kingdom. How could I, a mere witch, can hate the sun and the moon? That would be akin to hating nature."
Silence.
Then there was more silence.
Ava blinked as she maintain a cordial smile on her face.
Was that... too much?
Baba warned her that while the King was a very direct person, the Queen loved to hide some insults in her words. She’s a scheming bitch that hides behind her smiling face and kind words. Meanwhile, the King was not as talkative but he is just as scheming and deadly.
So... Ava immediately found a solution to give them a headache.
But instead of being speechless. The three other people actually looked... shocked.
Was there something wrong with her acting?
