"You have seen him..." The King sat on an extravagant chair made with the best wood and jewels. A large dining table full of food was in front of him. It would have been a sight to see if... the food was actually cooked.
The smell of blood was thick in the air as the light from the chandelier, reflected against the fresh scarlet liquid that started to seep out of the dish. To someone like King Josiah and Ulva, this is considered a feast.
It was something that the King would only have once a month.
Despite this, the King had a dark look on his face as he cut the raw steak on his plate.
"That isn’t something that the old Matthew would say." The King continued. "Something is wrong... that man might not be Matthew."
"My King, I have done all the preparations for the magick sensor that I prepared in advance. The results are the same. He is Matthew." Ulva answered.
The King used his fork to eat the raw meat.
"I believe we should continue our plan. This time, we are going to make sure that the witch dies."
"I understand."
Ava was like a large thorn that is preventing them from controlling Matthew. According to Ulva, Ava is indeed powerful and that might be the reason why Baba made her stand beside Matthew. Right now, both the King and Ulva believed that Baba was actually the one who was responsible for everything.
Baba trained Ava and even sent her to the Pits to make sure that she would grow into a strong witch. Baba deliberately did that while Matthew is inside this place. She made sure that the world would think Ava is already dead or was hidden by Matthew to keep her safe when in fact, Baba was training her for this very moment. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
Both the King and Ulva believed that the powerful witch behind Ava was none other than Baba!
Moreover, they also believed that Baba was the one behind the scenes. She must have wanted to avenge Julianne and her family’s death!
That was the only explanation why something like this would happen!
"That woman had been thwarting our plans!" the King said. He was extremely in a bad mood. He shouldn’t have allowed Matthew to leave this place! He shouldn’t have let him stay outside for too long and given him the chance to meet Ava!
"My lord, even if Matthew didn’t leave this place, Babaylan would still do everything in her power to let Ava in. I am certain that she had this planned since... Lady Julliane died!" Ulva said.
The King gritted his teeth as he shoved another steak into his already bloodied mouth. As someone who has lived for thousands of years, he was usually calm and very logical. He had long considered himself stoic and smart.
A strategist.
And he had survived for so long because of this.
But the fact that someone like Matthew is now threatening his very existence is making him lose his composure. He dug his teeth into the fresh flesh before gulping the fresh blood that was on a chalice.
"What of Matthew’s mate?" he asked. Matthew cannot find his mate! Or he won’t be able to use Matthew’s body. "Can’t we find another woman to— pretend as his mate?"
"I don’t think— "
"Magick. Make him feel something. He had done it before. We could do it again. All I need is for him to sleep with another woman before he finds his mate and everything should be alright!" Isn’t that the reason why he allowed Matthew to go out? He was scared that Matthew would interact with other Lycan families and find his mate!
He wanted him to sleep around!
He wanted him to find someone before he found his mate!
It has been years since then.
The King was confident that by now, Matthew was ready to marry someone, anyone. Any woman aside from his mate should be alright.
Who would have thought that he would refuse everything that the King offered him?
The King recalled the time when he told Matthew that he would immediately abdicate the throne once Matthew marry someone! Any woman is alright as long as it wasn’t his mate!
Any sane Lycan would have agreed! It was an unbelievably wonderful offer!
But Matthew said no without batting an eyelid.
He insisted that he could find his mate.
Now, Matthew just changed everyone’s opinion when he said that there is no need to choose an heir now since the King is still young and active. This, not only made the King furious, but it also delayed everything!
The King couldn’t just stay in this body forever!
He needed to find a new one as soon as possible.
A body strong enough to handle the King’s fragmented soul and his abilities.
Matthew would have been perfect for that.
"That would require us to let him take the potion," Ulva said.
"Then do everything! Hide It somewhere. Let him take the potion! Since he wanted to find his mate, then we shall give him that!"
"Yes, My Lord."
"Do everything that you can, Ulva. We don’t have much time. I need to move to a new body or I— will die."
"I understand My Lord."
The King harrumphed and took another slice of meat. For centuries, he chose to live inside this plane to hide from his enemies. He did everything he could to avoid contact with the outside world. From changing the rules to changing how the Lycans think. Everything!
He couldn’t just let Matthew destroy everything he had built in the past.
"For this event, I want you to deal with Ava. I am certain that Babaylan would come here once she discovered that we have her precious disciple. Once that happens, prepare the trap. It is time to end these bothersome witches once and for all."
Ulva bowed. Then she smiled without hiding the sinister glint in her eyes.
"Your wish is my command, my lord," Ulva said.
