Ava expected some curious eyes from other people who came inside the door. To her surprise, none of them looked surprised to see all the females inside when they arrived.
In fact, some of them looked like they were expecting it.
Ava pursed her lips. She stared at the champagne and sneered. As someone who could brew potions, she knew that someone laced the champagne with something... not deadly, but surely would make anyone do something that might be against their morals.
She looked at the other women and, just as she expected, most of them were already blushing, eyes almost glassy as they smiled at the various men walking their way.
Slowly, Ava found her way toward the food section. Right now, not many people were looking at the pastries and were very busy talking to the beautiful females.
She got herself one cupcake, smelled it, and frowned. It had an aphrodisiac?
She put it back, then she chose another pastry and smelled it.
Another aphrodisiac!
Was this some sort of group sex party? She blinked until her eyes suddenly met someone’s familiar eyes.

However, before the latter could approach her, Ava saw someone else with Jude. Samuel.
Why was he here?
Jude and Samuel also looked surprised to see her there.
The two quickly approached Ava.
"You look decent for someone who had been rumored to have died..." Jude said.
"Decent?" Ava raised an eyebrow. "It took me five hours to have this look. Decent is not even fit to describe me right now." She avoided looking at Samuel. Instead, she focused her attention on Jude.
"V..."
"I’ve heard good things about you," Ava said. "Head of the North American Trillium Branch."
Jude smiled smugly.
"Isn’t that only because of you?"
"You still owe me one," Ava smiled and stopped Jude when he was about to drink the champagne. "You wouldn’t want that drink if you want to... wake up alone in your bed tomorrow."
"Aphrodisiac?"
"Mild ones... not enough to make a Shifter like you take your clothes off in front of everyone. But definitely enough to make you want to bring someone to your room."

"Maybe because you expected to sleep with someone?"
"I’ve heard about that before," Jude responded. "Shifters... can be very energetic. Humans are totally different from the supernatural. Obviously, a witch who took some potion is quite different, too."
"Sounds like you have had some experience in the past?"
"Are we really going to talk about my sex life after not seeing each other for what? Ten? Eleven months?" Despite Ava’s warnings, Jude still took the champagne. "Most potions don’t work in Werelions," Jude added and got himself another champagne.
"Would you like to go to the balcony?" Ava said. She could feel Samuel’s mixed emotions right now and she knew the latte wanted to talk to her... in private. Obviously, that is not something possible given the current situation.
However, there are ways for them to walk away from curious ears.
"Of course." Jude held his hand towards Ava, but before she could take it, a large man whose belly looked like he was nine months pregnant suddenly interrupted them.
Ava lifted her head and gaped at the man’s size.
He looked like a fucking giant!
She was sure he was seven feet or more than that.
"Caro... you should introduce me to this friend of yours."
"Canete, this isn’t the time for that."
"Come on!" the man elbowed Jude and grinned at Ava. "I am Jose Canete... from a Werebear working with Trillium. How about you?"
"I am — " Ava wanted to say that she was not interested but the man’s loud voice already attracted a few people’s attention so she smiled and said. "I am Jude’s company for tonight."
"Oh?" Jose Canete chuckled. His large stomach seemed to shake as his chuckle turned into a burst of full-blown laughter. "How lucky! It seems that being someone who always attracts women runs in the family, huh, Caro."
In response, Jude glared at the man.
To Ava’s surprise, Canete raised both of his arms and took a step back.
"Alright... calm down. I am taking a step back."
Jude, who was about six feet, was looking up at this giant, and the giant took a step back in defeat. Jude resolved the issue without even using violence! How commendable!
Ava smiled. She was almost proud.
Just almost.
"Shall we?" Jude said and this time, Ava accepted his hand. "You should come with us too..." Ava looked at Samuel. "Mr. Sutton."
With that, Ava and Jude walked out towards the balcony with Samuel in tow.

After a few minutes, they found a suitable location that made Ava set up a sealed place for their conversation. Obviously, Ava knew that this would soon reach Ulva, but she didn’t care. Tonight, she’s going to make that woman regret her actions.
"Where have you been, V? How could you just leave without telling anyone? I was worried sick."
"Worried? Was that the reason why you assumed I was dead?"
"What did you want me to do? You just... vanished. Even that Matthew — speaking of Matthew — Where is he? Isn’t he a Lycan Prince?"
"I wouldn’t know that," Ava said. Then she looked at Samuel. "How have you been, Samuel?" she asked. She expected the man to say something and maybe lie to her... again.

"There were rumors that you died. That someone from Trillium punished you. But I knew you were alive. So I always brought this thing to me knowing that one day, it would find its owner."
Ava hesitated for a few seconds before she accepted the box. She opened it and found what looked like an old coin.
She then lifted her head and looked at Samuel, as if silently asking him what the hell was that coin.
"That — contains the things that Gabriella wanted to tell you. It is a relic, that your father gave her all those years ago."
