Chapter 306: Declaring A War

However, if Ulva says no. Ava would insist to use her spell and obviously, everyone would see what really happened here.

It was a trap!

The worse was... Ava gave Ulva the chance to decide for herself. Was she going to save her apprentice? Or save her reputation.

The question shouldn’t be that hard.

The obvious answer is her reputation.

But soon, the other witches would hear about what happened here. That would be terrible.

"Alright..." Ulva uttered after a long pause. "Since Miss Mildred wanted to climb into the Alpha’s bed then we should let her do that."

"Priestess?" Mildred looked at her with tears in her eyes. Ulva gritted her teeth before she avoided her apprentice’s gaze. In fact, Mildred grew up with Ulva. She started working for her when she was five and Ulva taught Mildred everything.

How could it be easy for Ulva?

She felt her chest turn heavy.

But then she met Ava’s eyes.

Almost immediately, the grief that she felt vanished.

"Very well... since the Priestess wanted Miss Mildred to be with the Alpha then we should as the King and Queen too! Your Majesties— "

"Wait, I believe something is wrong here." Mildred interrupted Ava.

"Miss Mildred?"

"Why would the Alpha suddenly do that to me?" Mildred asked.

"What are you trying to say, Miss Mildred?"

"Someone must have poisoned the Alpha! That’s right. I have admired the Alpha since I met him earlier. I never thought that he would suddenly do something so disrespectful. So, I believe that someone must have used magick on him!"

To Mildred’s surprise, everyone’s expression in the room turned from ugly to horrible. It looked like they had swallowed a lime.

Mildred blinked. She didn’t understand what happened. She thought bringing up the magick would do her any good. It would surely show that it was Ava who influenced the Alpha into acting like this!

But this....

What is going on?

"Miss Mildred, are you saying that witch deliberately attacked Alpha York just to do this?"

"I— " Mildred blinked. She understood everything now! She had just dug a deeper hole for herself. "No. I didn’t mean that. I just thought that— " It actually sounded like she just want to drag someone else with her. Someone like... Ulva.

"My... it seems that Miss Mildred didn’t understand what she was saying. She must have drunk a good amount of alcohol?" Ava smiled. Then she waved her hand the wooden door that was destroyed earlier moved. They floated into the air and soon attached themselves together until it looked like they were not broken or had been broken just a few minutes ago.

"Isn’t it best to leave the newlyweds... alone?"

"Newly— What are you saying?"

"You came here to enjoy a night with the Alpha. Why not just do it now? A little mishap shouldn’t be enough to satiate your thirst... right?" Ava asked. One of the Werewolves sneered while another chuckled.

"I understand. I think Miss Woods is actually right. We are intruding on something sacred," One of the Alpha said. "Aren’t we here to enjoy ourselves? Isn’t that right, your majesty?

"I agree," the King said without an iota of emotion on his face. "Do what you want."

"I— " Mildred’s face turned pale when she felt Alpha York’s sharp eyes. His gaze felt like daggers against her skin. "Priestess?" Sadly, Ulva was already walking away from her. "Priestess, may I talk to you?" Mildred tried to yell but Ulva ignored her.

"Priestess?" Mildred tried to follow Ulva but when she tried to step out of the door, an invisible shield appeared, preventing her from leaving.

"Enjoy your night, Mildred. You finally got what you wanted." Ulva said.

Then she closed the door with a loud bang.

For a few minutes, Mildred stood in front of the now-closed door, tears running down her cheeks. Then she blinked and slowly turned around. However, before she could even see the Alpha, she felt something hard hit her body.

Then her gaze turned blurry.

Slowly, her consciousness left her.

.......

"You won," Ulva stood in front of Ava, holding a glass of wine. "I underestimated you. It won’t happen again."

Ava snorted at that. "Twice," she responded. "I already won twice, Priestess."

"Are you declaring war on me?"

"You did that when you invited me here." Ava fired back. She narrowed her eyes then she smiled. "Matthew told me to defend myself if anyone would try to scheme against me. He even gave me permission to kill someone."

"Why pretend that you are weak?" Ulva asked.

"Isn’t it fun? Being underestimated is definitely better than being feared. If people fear you, they tend to avoid you. But people who underestimate you would do everything to assert whatever advantage they have against you. To me... that smells like fun. Don’t you think so too?"

"You are not here to have some fun."

"Matthew told me to enjoy myself. As his witch... I would do everything that he tells me to do."

"You— "

"Ah... look at that... the Alpha’s that Mr. York wanted me to convince earlier was walking our way. We were talking about rogues and the sudden increase of Hybrids lately. Do you want to join our conversation?"

"Miss Woods, we were just looking— oh— Priestess Ulva, we didn’t see you. Are we interrupting something?" An Alpha with a bald head and a funny-looking smile asked Ulva. Obviously, the man was lying. Ulva was wearing a red gown that looked beautiful against the chandelier inside the hall. She was very noticeable.

The two men were actually mocking Ulva because of what happened earlier!

"No, you are not. I was just leaving." Ulva gritted her teeth as she forced herself to smile. "I really hope that you would enjoy your night gentlemen. Have a good night as well Miss Woods."

"Are you sure you didn’t want to join us? I was just telling them about Matthew’s initiative for his fight against the rogues. It would be a very interesting topic."

"No need," Ulva answered before she walked away from Ava. This is not over, she thought.
