"Kill them," Ulva said. "No." Her eyes narrowed as she stared at the mirror in her room. "Burn them while they were alive. Yes. Burn everything on that place!" She gritted her teeth in anger. She didn’t even notice the silence on the other side of the communication device as she was still very angry about Ava.
Her blood was boiling and all she could think of was burning something to appease her anger.
"Say something!" Ulva hissed. She just lost one of her most promising apprentices. She should have grieved but she was always reminded of Ava’s smirking face. That woman thought she had won! And Ulva couldn’t accept that.
"Priestess, I believe we may have a problem," the voice on the other line said.
"Problem? What problem? Was it too hard to kill an infant?"
"No. They— They escaped."
The word escaped rung against her ears and she frowned. "What are you talking about? How come I just heard of this matter now?"
"All of our people had been guarding the premises, we have detained all the employees inside this mansion including the butler. However... when we checked them again, they already vanished from the underground facility."
"How is that possible?"
"We— We don’t know but everything inside the room vanished as well."
"Useless!" Ulva uttered. "You are all useless! How dare you let them escape?" she fought to urge to teleport to that place and personally punish them. "You assured me that the place had antimagick set up. How could they leave without anyone noticing them?"
"We placed an antimagick device all over the place but it won’t be enough to stop powerful witches."
"Such as Babaylan..." Ulva hissed. "Babaylan you... " The woman had been ruining her plan over and over again! She even dared to train another witch like her!
"Priestess, what are we going to do?"
"What else? Leave that place and meet with the others! Useless!" Ulva ended the communication and marched out of her bathroom. Unable to control her anger, she started throwing vases and expensive lamps against the walls of her rooms.
Ava dared to embarrass her! That woman actually dared to declare war against her!
"You will regret this Babaylan!" she hissed. "You will regret sending your apprentice here!"
........
"ACHOO!" Baba frowned. Was someone talking badly about her? She shrugged and continued reading the potion recipe that she just received from the Shaman.
"Witches don’t get sick," Shaman’s voice echoed behind her. "Perhaps someone was cursing you."
"I can’t take of anyone who would hate me," Baba answered without hiding the sarcasm in her voice. She turned around and looked at the Shaman from behind her thick eyeglasses. "The formula that you gave me was too small, who would read something like this?"
"It was an honor to receive something like that from me. If you don’t want it— "
"I want it." Baba interrupted the Shaman. "Though, I am still wondering why this language and script never existed on Earth. I am not going to ask questions as I know you would never answer them. But thank you for letting me translate it so I could make medicines."
"Don’t flatter yourself Babaylan, I wouldn’t share it if it wasn’t for Ava’s brother."
Baba snorted. Then she stared at the parchment of paper in front of her. While this type of writing does not exist on Earth, the Shaman was kind enough to give her the translation. Of course, she still had to manually translate each word before she could read everything.
"These are all ancient words," Baba noted. "Words that shouldn’t have existed in this... plane."
"Good guess. Sadly, I am not going to answer any more questions."
Baba rolled her eyes. That wasn’t something new. The Shaman was very powerful but, he is also a selfish character. He wouldn’t help anyone or do anything especially if it doesn’t directly concern him. Right now, it is reasonable to say that the only one that could make the Shaman act was his only apprentice, Ava.
"To use this magick on someone like Ava’s brother," she continued to murmur. "I have never heard of this before. Are you certain this would work?"
"No."
"What if the spell is broken?"
"I wouldn’t know that. I have not tried creating this potion before."
"Then— " Baba lifted her head. The Shaman was directly sitting across her. Just like her, he was reading some old parchment. "Are you saying that you are going to give this medicine to her brother without even knowing if it will work?"
"Yes."
"You— "
"Isn’t that better than doing nothing?"
"How could you— "
"Whatever they did to that child’s body was enough to ruin both his body and mental capabilities. Not one potion in this plane would be able to remedy what they did."
"So, you just decided to find an old parchment and use it on her brother? What if it harms him?"
"Babaylan," finally, the Shaman lifted his gaze and looked at her. "Phil had been like that for months. He sleeps, eats, and acts like a beast. He doesn’t even recognize his own son. Do you think he would want to continue living like that?"
"I— "
"One of the reasons why I sent Ava to the Pits was to gather some information about demons and daemons in that world."
"Demons and Daemons." Of course, Baba had read about them from the Library of Knowledge. She thought of doing more research about them but the sources are limited plus, the only ones that could freely go to their realm were dream walkers. There is a reason why dream walkers had been hunted for years.
"How is that possible? You cannot bring anything back from that place." And this was common knowledge. Everyone who knew about the Pits knew about this.
"I have my ways," the Shaman shrugged. "The fact that you cannot do it doesn’t mean I cannot do it."
"You— " This man’s tongue was really sharp. Sometimes, Baba wanted to slap his mouth with a chair or something bigger.
"So, why are you telling me this?" Baba asked. What’s the point of telling her some random information and not telling her the whole thing?
