Chapter 308: Curiosity

"I have reasons to believe that whatever they are doing to these people were related to Demons and Daemons and maybe even people from the Nightmare Realm." Shaman Gaas calmly said as if what he just said was not enough to make Baba speechless.

"You are saying that— "

"That whoever started this experiment might be connected to the demonic realm."

"And?"

"Well since you thought Matthew might be from that realm, it is only best that you know." Again, the Shaman shrugged.

"You think I was wrong?"

The Shaman looked at her. "Do you know what a relic is?"

"What kind of question is that?"

"Relics don’t just belong from the demonic world. Anyone who had a strong spiritual body could easily create one. Someone from the nightmare realm or perhaps the celestial realm could make one. When you told me that Matthew is someone from the demonic realm, I had my doubts."

"Why? My mother said— "

"Relics are created to hide someone’s soul. Someone who had a strong spiritual body could divide their soul and hide them inside relics so if someone destroys their physical body, they still had a chance of moving into another body."

"Spiritual bodies are very hard to achieve."

"For someone from this dimension, yes. But there are various ways to do that in other dimensions."

"You are saying, Matthew, might not be from the demonic realm?"

"Think about it," the Shaman said. "If you wanted to hide your soul, are you really going to announce that you are from the realm where you came from? Wouldn’t that defeat the purpose of hiding yourself?"

Baba frowned. She turned silent and for a moment, she just stared at the parchment.

"I prefer to focus on this formula," Baba uttered. She too wanted to gain more knowledge, but there are things that she could not understand in this world. The cosmos is a mysterious thing and she had learned a long time ago not to mess with the cosmos.

There are things that she wanted to ask the Shaman, things that she wanted to clarify. But she was well aware of how dangerous it would be for someone like her to try and explore what is beyond her perception. The Shaman wasn’t just called a Shaman because he was a simple witch.

And even Babaylan, the guardian of the library of knowledge was well aware of that.

"Look at this..." the Shaman suddenly passed her another parchment.

"What am I looking at?" she asked. It was another type of script that she couldn’t understand.

"Ancient records from Mesopotamia."

"The place of the first civilization?" Why would the Shaman study this? Was it related to Matthew?

"I don’t understand..." Baba stared.

"As the Guardian of the Library, you are supposed to know every language that ever existed on Earth."

"I know every language that ever existed on Earth. Sumerians, Babylonians, Assyrians, and even Archaic. But this... this isn’t a script that originated from this plane."

"Actually, it is something of this plane. Though... only a group of people was aware of it. This one is considered a secret script only for the people who wanted to use their human body and make them the avatar of a higher being."

"An Avatar?"

"Yes. Since the beginning of time, humans had been curious. Eve ate the apple because of her curiosity. Lilith, Adam’s first wife left the Garden of Eden mainly because she wanted to explore the world and be more independent. When this group of humans started experimenting on humans, it was mainly because of their curiosity which turned into the thirst for power."

The Shaman continued. "Look at that script and use Babylonians but backward. And this..." The Shaman held his palm and showed what looked like some new script. But upon closer inspection, Baba realized that they were translations.

She quickly used it on the parchment and her expression changed.

"They wanted to summon angels?" she asked.

"These were older accounts."

"Angels cannot use a human’s body. A human body would explode. It happened in Sodom and Gomorrah in the past. Isn’t that why the angels gave their essences to humans?"

"Again, this was in the past. If those old folks wanted to summon angels what’s stopping them from summoning someone from the other realms?"

"Do you have anything else to confirm this?"

"No. All of the other records magically vanished. As if... someone burned them. No traces whatsoever. Without these ancient texts that I had hundreds of years ago, I wouldn’t have anything that talks about these experiments."

"So you are saying that these people still exist?"

"Groups of people and yes. They exist. I refuse to believe that the keepers and the people who worked for Trillium could pull this off on their own. Someone else is behind them. Someone who wanted to be anonymous. Someone who wanted to use them."

"And you are telling me this because?"

"Because you have access to the library of knowledge which contains all the records of humanity’s achievements. You are going to get the rest of the information for me."

"And in exchange?" freewёbnoνel-com

"I might help you hide the fact that Matthew— who was from an upper realm— was able to descend into a body who was clearly weaker than him."

"Upper Realms..." Baba mumbled.

"If you care about him, you should be able to find this information. After all, I am doing this for Matthew and Ava."

"Ava? You really wanted me to believe that you are doing this for her and not your personal curiosity?"

"My curiosity isn’t as important as the fact that Ava... might be one of the people that they have experimented on."

Baba almost choked on her own saliva when she heard the Shaman’s words.

Sadly, a part of her wasn’t that surprised to hear that. Then she thought about the prophecy. Ava should be the child of the moon while Matthew was the child of malice.

"These people..." the Shaman added. "What do you think are they going to do once they realized that Ava is the mate of someone who successfully descended into a vessel?"
