Chapter 319: Public Property

"And why are you here?" Drigo was the first one who notice Ava the moment she walked inside the conference hall.

"Your Highness," Ava smiled.

"Answer my question.’

"I am here to participate."

"A slave has no right to participate in this conference."

Ava smiled. "His Highness Matthew cannot come so he asked me to participate in the conference in his stead."

Drigo narrowed. "Where is he now?"

"He told me not to tell you," she answered without batting an eyelid.

Drigo frowned. He looked around and suddenly held Ava’s wrist and pulled her to the side.

"I suggest you leave now."

"I said, I am here as his highness— "

"I don’t care. Leave. You are not welcome here."

Ava sighed. She rolled her eyes inwardly.

Then she walked past him.

"What are you— " Drigo held her arm. He used enough force to stop her from walking but not enough to hurt her. "I said leave!"

"Your Highness... " Ava touched Drigo’s arm. He flinched and let go when he felt the electricity coming from her fingers. "If I were you... I wouldn’t touch me."

"You— "

"Because I’m not scared of you." Ava took a step toward the prince.

"Listen..." Ava said. "And listen well."

Drigo’s face got even darker.

"I am not in a very good mood." Last night, Ava did everything she could to remove the ring that Matthew gave her. To no avail. The ring didn’t budge nor showed signs that the magick she used worked on it. Right now, the ring was sitting like a queen on her finger. Because of that, Ava woke up groggy and definitely irritated. "I wanted to burn someone. Kill them and all."

"You— are threatening me!?"

"No. I’m just saying what I wanted to do. How could a small little witch like me threaten a powerful Lycan like you?" Ava narrowed. "That sounded a little too far-fetched, right? Your Highness?"

Just as Drigo was about to answer, his surroundings suddenly turn dark. It was pitch black.

"What— "

"I took away your sight. I could take away the others too." Ava’s voice echoed inside his head. He flinched. His first instinct was to fight and kill her. But when he tried to move his limbs, he realized something.

He couldn’t feel them.

His whole body felt numbed and he couldn’t move them!

"Hmmm..."

"I said, I could take away everything. Touch, smell, taste, sight, and hearing. Right now... all that is left is your hearing. I mean..." Ava chuckled. "I wanted you to hear my voice not just the echo of my words inside your head."

Drigo’s heart started to drum against his face. This must be an illusion! He thought!

How could a mere illusion make him like this?

He immediately tried his best to get out of it. He closed his eyes and tried to call his wolf. He would risk everything just to get someone’s attention even if that means, showing his wolf to other people.

Since Drigo hasn’t found his mate, he couldn’t actually control his wolf and would avoid transforming or antagonizing it. This was one reason why he usually avoid confrontations with people stronger than him... like Matthew.

However, this didn’t mean that he couldn’t summon the strength to—

"Pfffttt..."

Drigo snapped out of his stupor when he heard Ava’s giggle not far away from him.

"What are you doing, your highness?"

Drigo’s eyes flew open. He soon realized that his senses were back. He turned towards Ava who was standing not far away from him. She was smiling at him like... like a damn devil.

"If you were tired, I could easily call your witches and take you to your rooms," Ava said.

"Husband?"

Drigo’s mood worsen when he heard his first wife’s voice. He immediately turned and smiled at the tall blond woman approaching them.

"Mi Amor..." he smiled.

"You are sweating. Are you alright?" the woman was not as tall as Ava yet Ava could clearly see her perfectly formed muscles from the tank top that she was wearing. She looked casual and beautiful with her simple ponytail and cargo pants. In the middle of everyone else who was wearing suits and casual attire, the woman sadly looked out of place. And this immediately gathered everyone’s attention.

"What are you doing here?" Drigo said as he used a handkerchief to wipe his sweat.

"What are you talking about. I am the commander of your army. Shouldn’t I join this conference?"

"Then what are you wearing?’ Drigo asked.

"I just trained. I didn’t bother changing. I thought you like me wearing something like this?"

"No. I— I like it. But there are other people here."

"Oh..." the woman turned around and smiled at everyone but frowned when her gaze landed on Ava. "What is she doing here?"

"I—" Instead of answering, Drigo held the woman’s hand and moved her away from Ava. Of course, Ava immediately cast a spell to listen to their conversation. She wasn’t exactly eavesdropping when the matter is about the security of the Lycan right?

As to how she knew this was about the security of the Lycans?

She didn’t.

She was just following her gut.

"Didn’t I tell you to at least change into something decent when you are with me?" Drigo said.

"But— "

"I know you love training but— " Drigo’s gaze suddenly turned gentle. "I can’t let other men watch your body."

Almost immediately, the woman blushed. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

"Is this really the time to be jealous? I am here to join the conference because I am coming with you when you fight against the Hybrids. And what is that woman doing here? She’s our witch. She can’t be here."

Ava couldn’t help but react when the woman said the word ’our’.

Did they think she’s some sort of public property?

"I am just trying to ask her why she came when you arrive."

"Then you should kick her out. It’s embarrassing to have her with the others. She’s nothing but a mere witch who had been sleeping with a prince."

"I know. However, she just told me that she’s Matthew’s representative. Apparently, that brother of mine decided not to come and send his witch instead!"
