Now that Ava thought about it, she actually remember this woman in one of the gatherings in this place. She should be one of Drigo’s wives. Though she wasn’t too sure which wife it was.
Drigo had multiple wives and most of them were from noble families. And those families were the ones backing him now.
Seeing the pointlessness of the conversation, Ava turned and started walking towards the chairs that were made to look like a traditional classroom arrangement with everyone facing the person discussing in front. The elevation in each row made it possible for everyone, including the people at the back to see what was in front of them.
She sat down and ignored everyone’s gazes.
Most of them were from the Lycans and shifters. However, what she found interesting are the few ones coming from the witches up front.
Amore.
And the council members.
Those folks really came here to discuss Hybrids?
As if on cue, Amore raised her head and looked at Ava.
Their eyes met and for a few seconds, Ava felt the anger radiating from Amore’s body before it completely disappeared and was now replaced by pity.
What was that about?
Then, Amore turned her head away.
Again... what the hell was that about?
Ava turned her gaze to the other witches, meeting their eyes and making them turn their heads away.
Not long after, everyone started taking their seats as Ulva walked in along with Jude and the other people considered high-ranking and executive. This includes the Alphas of the five most powerful packs in each continent and head witches and other people that she didn’t recognize. Though, Ava was confused about why Amore and the other witches weren’t included. Was it because of the investigation?
Ava smirked. They are trying not to attract any more attention and hoped not to antagonize the shifters who had been victims of Hybrids. What do you think will happen if Ava would antagonize them instead?
"Thank you so much for coming," Ulva said as everyone else took their seats. "This is the second..." Ulva made a sudden pause when she saw Ava not far away from her. "Miss Woods... I don’t remember asking you to come for today’s conference."
"Because you didn’t," Ava answered casually. "I came here was his highness Matthew’s representative."
"Now, I don’t remember his highness Matthew informing me about this matter," Ulva faked a smile. "Did I miss anything?"
For some reason, Ulva immediately reminded Ava of some teachers that she had way back in high school and college. Strict, sarcastic, and passive-aggressive.
"Why would his highness Matthew informed you, Priestess?" Ava asked and didn’t miss the surprise gasps and chuckles from everyone else.
"Very well, since you insist on coming here then... why don’t you enlightened about his highness’s knowledge about hybrids and rogues."
Ulva was clearly trying to test Ava to embarrass Matthew and made it look like she didn’t know anything. The question is why?
Ulva never showed hostility towards Matthew. In fact, the woman seemed to favor Matthew over Drigo.
So... why?
What changed?
"Alright..." Ava got up and walked towards Ulva.
"You can stay in your seat."
"No need," Ava said. "I would rather watch everyone’s faces when I’m speaking."
Ava’s arrogance was something that Ulva never expected. She knew the woman was tactless and careless. But not to the point of being stupid!
In fact, the past incident was enough proof that Ava wasn’t as dumb as she thought. The woman was very smart and that itself was scary. The fact that she is as powerful as most of Ulva’s apprentices was another reason why she was trying to be careful towards Ava.
At first, Ulva thought Ava would shy away from speaking because her words would only make people look down on her lord which was Matthew. So, Ulva dared to say that!
Who would have thought that Ava wouldn’t hesitate to do something like this in front of everyone?
"Pardon me but... aren’t you only a witch working for a Prince? I don’t see why you should stand there and speak about the Hybrids?" Someone from the back said just as Ava was about to reach Ulva.
"I agree. Let’s not waste our time. Little miss, please go back to your seat and let the older folks discuss this matter. Since his highness, Matthew asked you to join then just sit down and take notes instead."
Of course, Ava didn’t stop.
Obviously, Patriarchy was still a thing everywhere. However, this belief was worse in the shifter community. Most shifters think that witches just like to use tricks. That they could kill them because they have weaker bodies.
While this was mainly because of the bloodshed that happened in the past, there were still some shifters that thinks witches are weak because they were women. The mentality that they are biologically stronger because they were men was rampant and while Ava partially agreed that men are physically stronger, she had issues with men who like to shove this fact in her face.
"Coming from a witch who had killed both Hybrids and rogues in the past..." Ava started. "I’d say, I am more than qualified to talk about hybrids in front of everyone in this room."
"Kill a Hybrid?"
"She used to work for us," Jude said. "An officer with a clear track record of achievements."
"And by achievements you mean... a pile of bodies." Someone said.
In response, Jude smiled proudly. "She was trained by the best. It is not surprising that she would have a pile of bodies. Especially if... they are Hybrids and rogues, right?"
Luckily, Jude’s words were enough to shut most people up.
Did Jude really have to say that? The answer was no. Ava could handle these men.
But Jude was clearly trying to act like this because he wanted her to come back to Trillium!
Ava gave Jude a warm smile.
"Very well... I believe she’s qualified to tell us about what she knew about Hybrids and Rogues," Ulva said while smiling inwardly. She never expected Jude to actually tell everyone that Ava used to work for them. The seed has been planted. All she needed to do was watch them grow.
