Chapter 336: Head and Body

"Mother, please calm down. You are not making the situation any better!" Drigo said. His mother had been pacing inside her quarters since Ulva threw them out of that room. Her hair was a mess, her face visibly distressed. "Calm down. You are making me dizzy."

"You are not going to tell me what to do!" Queen Margery hissed. "This— I’m sorry. I wasn’t supposed to say that. I just— "

"Hey... you can leave us," Drigo told him and his mother’s witches that were standing not too far away from them. The two women bowed and promptly made their exit.

"I don’t think we can solve this by doing that, mother," Drigo said.

"Did you see him?" Queen Margery uttered. This time, her face looked horrified. Drigo immediately thought that it was because of what Matthew did.

"The King had always— "

"It was not about the King! I am asking you! Did you see how he slaughtered those... lowly animals as if he was killing ants!?" Margery’s eyes widened. "He made it look like he was stepping on ants while dancing. He made it look so easy. Did you see what he did back then?"

"So this was about Matthew? Not because of how father kicked us out?"

"Of course, this is about Matthew! How could someone like him possess that power?"

"He has the strongest— "

"No." Margery shook her head. "No. It’s not that. I know power when I see one and Matthew just showed me what real power is. He might even be stronger than Ulva."

"That’s impossible. Ulva has lived for centuries. She has served more than five Kings. She’s the strongest ally that we have."

"No." Again, Margery started shaking her head. She approached the table and finished a glass of tea. "That was different. Matthew was a wolf. A Lycan. His ability cannot be compared with someone like Ulva."

"I don’t understand." Drigo feigned ignorance. He wasn’t about to add more fuel to the fire in his mother’s eyes.

Drigo understood his mother’s concern. The Queen wanted him to become the next king. She wanted him to secure the crown.

But with Matthew’s power, Drigo’s chance of sitting on that throne had just become more blurry than before.

After what happened, some of their allies immediately changed their opinion.

Those people might not be obsessed with bloodlines but they bow down to the strong. They would bow down to the real Alpha.

And someone as strong as that definitely deserves to be called Alpha.

"You don’t understand," the Queen’s lips shook, tears pooled in her almond eyes. "You don’t understand everything."

"Mother— "

"That monster would kill you. He will slaughter us!"

"Mother— "

Margery started shaking.

"He would definitely punish me. He would kill you too. If — the moment he had the chance he would—" Margery suddenly held Drigo’s arm. "We need to leave."

"What?"

"We have to leave! Now! No... we need to find a place to hide. We can’t just go to the outside world. Matthew would surely find us. We need to go somewhere he can’t go. A plane. Like a pocket plane. We can definitely start anew. We can then— "

"Mother, what are you talking about?" Confused, Drigo supported his mother. He couldn’t understand his mother’s panic.

She was the current Queen of the Lycans!

Why would she act like this just because of a prince?

True! Matthew is strong but how could he defeat someone who has mated with her mate.

The King and the Queen were mates!

Of course, they are stronger than most Lycans!

So what was making his mother so scared?

"What are you talking about? Why would we leave?"

"I— " Margery’s face turned pale as her eyes shifted to the space behind Drigo. "I— "

"She wanted to leave because... she killed my mother."

Matthew’s voice.

Drigo immediately turned around and put his body in front of his mother.

"Why are you here?" Drigo asked. He didn’t sense Matthew or anyone coming inside his room. As a Lycan, he had really strong senses and could easily detect another warm-blooded creature near him.

"To talk," Matthew said. "Am I not allowed to talk to my... older brother?"

"You are not welcome here!" Queen Margery spoke. Despite the fact that she was already as pale as a sheet of paper, she still chose to move and show herself in front of Matthew. "And how dare you accuse your queen?"

Margery tried to extend her dominating aura. It was something that could easily intimidate a younger and weaker Lycan.

As the Queen, Margery was always used to everyone bowing before her. But this wasn’t just because she was the Queen. It was because of that invisible pressure around her. It was suffocating and definitely intimidating to anyone weaker than her.

"I have talked to Ulva," Matthew calmly approached them. Both Drigo and Margery took a few steps back.

"I already said, you are not welcome here!"

"Sit down," Matthew ordered as he took his seat. He gestured towards the other two vacant chairs that surrounded the table. Then he lifted his eyes and smiled. "Or I will make you sit."

"You— "

"It wouldn’t be pleasant," Matthew said.

"We will sit down," Drigo said.

"What are you— "

"Let’s go, mother." Drigo dragged her mother towards the chair. He had witnessed Matthew’s strength earlier.

What was the point of fighting back?

If Matthew really wanted to kill them. Then they would have already died a few minutes back.

"So what do you want to talk about?" Drigo said.

"You have no right to just barge in here and demand a conversation! You and your— "

"Do you really want to die?" Matthew’s words hindered the queen speechless. "No. Let me be more specific."

Matthew leaned closer and smiled.

"Do you want your head to roll on that beautiful carpeted floor?"

The Queen’s mouth parted in surprise.

"And by your head..." Matthew added. "I mean just your head. Your body would be outside. Does that sound enticing? If it is then... by all means... continue talking."
