"This is pretty good," Ava spoke as she ate the food that Matthew cooked. "What is this?"
Matthew had a smug smile on his face as he said, "Istrian fuži with truffles. A food popular in Croatia."
"You have been to Croatia?" Francheska asked. However, Matthew didn’t even bother to look at her. He was just staring at Ava, smiling.
"Do you want more?"
"How about you?" Ava asked.
"I already had enough." Matthew actually had some but he quickly finished it. Now, he was enjoying his wine in the middle of the afternoon because... why not?
Jude on the other hand had an embarrassed look on his face. The pizza that he ’tried’ to make wasn’t exactly as good as he expected. However, Francheska still ate it without any complaints. Now, he could only watch Ava and Matthew ate something that looked really appetizing.
"This is really good," Ava said. "You guys should— " Ava stopped talking and looked at Matthew. "Shouldn’t you share it so they will know how good your cooking is?"
"No," Matthew answered curtly. "And they won’t need so much food. They are leaving anyway.’
"Actually, I think it would be good to invite both of them to see the locals," Matthew said that this is a mixed community of supernaturals. It wouldn’t be too bad to actually have some company as they walked around the area, right?
That... and she’s a little terrified that she would beg him to fxck her if she spent more time with him alone. Who wouldn’t?
The man can cook and has been acting all sweet. He was making all this effort and her heart was almost melting.
It would be nice to pretend not to like it. But how long would be able to pretend?
Matthew squinted at Ava.
And she avoided his gaze without saying another word.
She’s starting to like him. And it wasn’t just because of the food...
Well, maybe it was partly because of the food.
Partly... frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
Just a little...

"Our small village would always welcome any supernatural who wanted to join us. This is a community without any rules, no packs or covens. Just some supernaturals living everything, struggling to survive and drinking their hearts out." The man who spoke was a balding guy that looked like someone in his late fifties. Though, Ava was certain he was older than that.
Matthew told her he is akin to the chairman in the small village and he— he is a Werelion. Which was pretty obvious because of his large build and robust physique. However, this fact seemed to surprise Jude a lot as he had been quiet since they arrived in the first village.
"What about the criminals?" Francheska asked the question that Ava had been wanting to ask since earlier.
"Everyone is welcome here. Though, criminals do not stay longer. This is not just a village but a community of people that would defend each other. The witches who worked with us are pretty good with some simple magic that would help us solve some crimes. Criminals who were caught were punished according to the older laws of witches and supernaturals. An eye for an eye. It might be a ruthless way but we are using that to warn others not to interrupt our peace."
"Oh, that’s pretty good. I have never heard of witches and other supernaturals living like this before." Francheska blurted out. Her bubbly personality was new to Ava but she thought it was just something that she developed because of the changes around her.
Or perhaps, she was just hiding this type of personality since she had no one else to talk to in that place?
The man named Tanit just looked at Francheska before shrugging.
"We understand. Many supernaturals would find the concept of living together and existing like equals, absurd. However, the ones who were born her genuinely thought that we could exist with everyone, even humans."
"Wait... does that mean humans also live here?"
"No. Not for so many years now. Humans used to live here but they cannot help but hate what they do not understand. However, one day, the community would soon open its doors to humans and exist peacefully with them. Ah... here we are." Tanit stopped at an old house made of wood and brick— just like most of the houses here. This one, however, was but a small one-story cabin with wooden gates that looked dilapidated.
Ava could already smell the herbs wafting out of the house’s windows.
It was a witch’s house.
And this? This ugly-looking house was nothing but an illusion.
"Priestess! We have — "Before Tanit could finish his words, the dipidated wodden gate full of rotting holes opened.
"Come in..." a beautiful voice echoed. "Come inside my simple abode. I have been waiting."
The five of them went inside the gate and into the house. Just as Ava expected, the interior was so different from what they saw on the outside.
The interior was bigger, and definitely more spacious and somewhat modern— a contrast to the old exterior that they saw. It had a large four or five-seater L-shaped couch, a bespoke-looking fireplace, and red marble floors that she covered with some Persian rugs.
All in all, it felt both cozy and luxurious. It looked expensive yet not too intimidating.
"Ava Woods..." the woman appeared from behind them just as the door closed. She was a beautiful brunnete with long braided hair, pale freckled skin, and pink rosy lips. She gave Ava a smile.
"I have been waiting..." she said.
"I’m sorry... you know me?" Ava asked.
"But of course," the woman looked really young, even younger than Ava. In fact, she looked like a woman just out of high school. Somehow, this appearance was the exact opposite of the magick that the woman had. "I knew you were coming even before you were born," the woman approached Ava and tried to hold her hand but Matthew was quick to block her.
"Ah..." the woman finally noticed Matthew and the others. Then she met Matthew’s eyes. "You— You are here? How did you- How come you are here?"
