It was said that animals are very sensitive to disasters.
Some scientists suspected that these animals are sensing some electromagnetic fluctuations that would occur minutes before a disaster. However, the thing that is happening in the village where Priestess Anna lived had nothing to do with electromagnetic or anything that can be explained by science.
It had something to do with the mist that slowly covered Priestess Anna’s house. And while not many supernatural could see it, animals can.
So, they chose to run away and find shelter.
The dark mist might be invisible to some supernatural but someone like the Priestess could easily sense it.
She looked up from the book that she was reading, her gaze immediately focused on the man sitting across from her.
"Why have you come?" she asked. "I never told her anything."
"I am well aware."
The Priestess closed her book. "You are not welcome here."
"I know," Matthew responded. As always, he was wearing black, a sinister smile plastered on his face. "You know very well why I am here, no?"
"I have no intentions of telling anyone about what I saw or what I will see."
"Oh, I am not worried about that. After all..." Suddenly a dagger appeared in Matthew’s hands. "You won’t live for long."
"I have never done anything to offend you."
"You are not from this realm," Matthew said.
"You must understand. I am trying to hide from them. This place is the safest— "
"You cannot hide from fate," Matthew uttered.
"Hypocrite! Aren’t you doing the same?"
"Am I?"
"You— " Seeing Matthew’s nonchalance, fear started to sprout in the Priestess’s eyes. "You cannot kill me. If Ava knew— "
"Funny how people your kind love to use someone’s fear against them," Matthew said. "What was it... nightmare?" he scoffed. "You are not where you belong."
"And so are you— "
Matthew pursed his lips.
"If you kill me your enemies will know where you are. Selene will know. And she— she will come after her."
"Then she would die."
"You are no longer as powerful as you were in the past."
"I am both the shadow and the dark. Created by chaos itself." Matthew said. "If you think any one of them could stop me, you are wrong."
"If the gods knew— "
"Screw the gods," Matthew hissed.
Priestess Anna swallowed. For a moment she stared at the anger on his face. Then she smiled.
"No... your majesty..." Priestess Anna said. "Screw you!"
A loud bang echoed just as the mist that covered the house disappeared.
Matthew narrowed at the shadow that appeared behind the Priestess. Before he knew it, a large battle axe that was double Matthew’s size flew towards him, destroying everything on its way.
A strong wind pulverized the area where Matthew and the Priestess were sitting. However, the barrier that surrounded the place was able to stop it from destroying the whole village. Right now, the thing that happens inside the barrier, won’t affect anything outside of the barrier.
"Summoning a titan’s avatar." Matthew scoffed. "How naive..."
"I had no choice!" Just like Matthew Priestess, Anna was able to avoid the axe. "It was the only thing that could stop you."
"Stop me?" Matthew snorted. "A mere titan who had been expelled to the underworld?" With that, a large mist suddenly wrapped around the shadow’s whole body.
Priestess Anna didn’t react to this. Instead, she opened a box and showed it to Matthew.
"We may not be able to stop your physical body but someone like you cannot use your darkness when there is light!" A blinding light suddenly came out of the box.
Matthew jumped back.
The wind intensified just as Matthew struggled to see. The light...
Darkness only exists because of the absence of light. Many would argue that he is powerless against the light.
However, that is not the case.
He opened his eyes which had turned red.
"Preposterous!" Matthew’s voice echoed. He knew then... this was a trap.
It was a trap to imprison him.
They are not giving him the chance to fight back and defend himself as they use the same tricks that they use in the past. Menoetius the titan of anger was only but a distraction.
Matthew should have seen it from the start.
This whole thing was nothing but a trap!
Matthew heard the chanting...
Just as it happened a thousand years ago.
Priestess Anna must have been working with other witches to make him weak. Not dead. No... someone like him wouldn’t die. They just wanted to keep him weak so they could drag him to another plane and imprison him... again.
He gritted his teeth.
He had been so arrogant.
And now, he was about to pay for it.
Matthew let the darkness seep out of his body.
"Ultimate Darkness!" he shouted in a dialect that any mortal have never heard before. A mass of shadow appeared and slowly covered his body, creating a cocoon-like defense around him.
But it was not done.
After it covered Matthew’s body, the darkness morphed into different weapons and attacked Menoetius, the giant shadow that was just standing not far away from him. This was not the real titan that Zeus had sent to Tartarus.
This was nothing but an avatar!
Meaning, he could defeat it.
But it might not be that easy.
The witches that had been hiding earlier slowly surrounded the dark cocoon, they formed a circle and held their hands together as their eyes turned white.
Matthew could feel the curse intensify.
The darkness that tried to attack the witches failed. There were more than thirty of them and he couldn’t just use everything that he could and sacrifice his physical body again.
No. He needed another way.
"You damn witches!" a voice echoed.
Matthew blinked. She thought she heard Ava’s voice.
"I’m going to burn you alive!"
Again, Ava’s voice echoed. Then it was followed by a loud explosion.
"How dare you hurt what is mine?" Ava screamed.
....
Ok so this is but a glimpse of Matthew’s real nature.
Here’s what we have so far.
1. He is born out of chaos. He is the darkness. And he called the titan: Menoetius which is base on greek mythology. So if you research about this you will know who or what he is. hehehe Then I guess you will also guess who Ava is. XD
