"What was that?" Francheska’s voice came echoed inside the room before Matthew could open the door. By now, the two children inside the room were awake, shaken by the incident.
Matthew immediately held Ava.
"Are you alright?"
"I am," she answered. Her eyes were focused on the two children.
"What was that?"Alpha Ramrin said as he arrived along with his Beta along with Jude arrived. Matthew and Francheska arrived first as they were actually faster than Jude and the werewolves. However, they also heard the scream and felt that sinister presence as they neared the room where the two children were sleeping.
"What the hell— " Jude cursed, he looked at Ava. "That was different..."
"Have you felt something like that before?" Francheska turned towards Jude.
"No. Have you?"Jude asked Ava. Jude didn’t really spend a lot of time in the field.
"No," Ava answered.
"It must be the witches!" Ramrin said. "That sinister feeling... it should be the witches!"
"I agree! They must have wanted to take our children and women!"
"Sammy, gather everyone. We need to make them pay."
"That village must be working with the witches and rogues! I wonder what benefit— "
"That is not a witch," Matthew’s words immediately got Ramrin’s attention.
"What?"
"It’s not a witch," Matthew said. "Something like that... cannot be a witch."
"But— "
"How did you know it wasn’t a witch?" the Beta said. "You are a witch yourself! How can we trust your words?"
"I— "
"You can trust mine." Matthew looked towards the Alpha. "As a Lycan." With that, Matthew gave them a taste of his suffocating pressure. It didn’t even take a few seconds before the two struggled to breathe. The Beta fell on his knees, clutching his chest.
"Stop— cough-"
"Matthew stop that," Ava held Matthew’s arms. Of course, she knew that the only reason why Matthew revealed his identity is that they doubted her. He wouldn’t want anyone to look down on Ava. A warm and cozy sensation spread on Ava’s chest.
Right after she said it, the pressure disappeared.
"A Lycan!" Alpha Ramrin couldn’t help but exclaim after calming himself. This was the first time he actually met a Lycan! He thought that Matthew had this weird air around him and he assumed that he was some trained bodyguard that was supposed to guard Jude Caro!
Who would have thought that he is actually a Lycan!?
"Please forgive us... we didn’t mean to offend you." Alpha Ramrin immediately apologize. As an Alpha, he had his own pride. However, that pride is useless in front of Matthew. At the end of the day, survival is still the most important thing.
He lowered his head and look at his Beta. Sammy was weaker than him and so, it took him a long time to recover just from the immense pressure that Matthew gave them. It might be embarrassing but this isn’t actually the time to act high and mighty.
He signaled him to apologize.
Sammy nodded and didn’t even dare to get up. He knelled in front of Matthew and started apologizing for what he said.
"At ease gentlemen, we are not here to threaten you. We are here to help." Matthew said.
Hearing this, relief flooded inside the Alpha’s chest. He was initially happy that the Trillium finally made their move. Right now, he was over the moon! The Lycans and the Trillium are working together!
It was the Lycans! The Mighty and illusive Lycans!
Seeing his reaction, Ava couldn’t help but look at Matthew. As someone who had worked with Trillium, Ava knew that the Alpha’s current reaction was not because of the organization but because of Matthew’s presence. She knew that Lycans are considered very rare in the outside world but what kind of reaction was this man have?
It looked like he was about to kiss Matthew’s feet!
"Then what about that creature?" Francheska asked, interrupting the weird vibe inside the room. "What was that?"
"We will tell you everything after we finished gathering all the information. But I can assure you. It is not a witch. There is no witch in this realm that exudes that smell and killing intent." Matthew said. "Ava will create another barrier for now. It is a thin barrier that is not meant to stop the rogues but to inform us that someone breach the area."
Matthew then looked at Ava. "Will you?"
Ava nodded. She didn’t have to ask him why he was insisting to create the barrier. She knew he would tell him soon. Her attention focused on the other people coming their way. There were some women and some stronger werewolves. They must have heard that loud voice earlier.
"Alpha... what is going on?" A brunette asked. She looked at Matthew and the rest before looking at their Alpha.
"Lyle, go ahead and take care of the children. We will continue talking at my office."
"No," Matthew said. "There is no need for that. I want you to give us a room. Ava needed to cast the barrier now. She won’t be able to fight while making the spell. We need something that faces the East and is large enough for a magick circle."
"I— "
"Alpha, are you going to let a witch create a barrier around us?" another woman asked.
"This is only temporary. Sammy will explain everything. I am going to take them to the guest room." Alpha Ramrin immediately complied. But since there were only three rooms available, the Alpha apologized and asked them if one of them would want to have his room instead. He told them he could stay in his office so someone should use his room.
"No..." Matthew said. "Three is enough. I will share a room with Ava."
"Two is fine," Francheska said with a cheeky smile on her face. Almost immediately, everyone looked at her.
"Jude and I will also stay in one room," Francheska added. "Mr. Caro is an important figure at Trillium. It is only right that he has his own bodyguard. Isn’t that right, Mr. Caro?"
