Chapter 369: Missing Children 6

"A Lycan?" one of the pack’s delta asked. "I have never heard of a Lycan before."

"Are you certain the Lycan is strong enough to protect us?" a woman from the back said.

"Yes," Sammy answered. "We have seen him use his abilities. He is far stronger than all of us."

"But I thought Lycans were mere legends?"

"Are certain it is a Lycan? It could be an impostor."

"I agree! We need to— "

"What about the witch?" the woman who spoke was Lyle, she was the Alpha’s daughter and the next Alpha of the pack. She had brown hair and attractive blue eyes. "Witches cannot be trusted, right?"

"I know. When I heard that they are with a witch— "

"Enough— " Alpha Ramrin said. "That witch just saved two of our children. We do not know what is going on. However, they have created some barriers that would — "

"Father, my apologies but I am not comfortable knowing that a witch is inside our pack house," Lyle said. She looked at the rest of the pack members and added, "We all know how tricky it is to deal with witches. They are treacherous and powerful. We cannot let them stay."

"I agree. I heard that Trillium doesn’t accept weaker witches. She must be really strong. What if— "

"Are we even sure that they are from Trillium?"

These people haven’t interacted with anyone from Trillium before. Moreover, their contact with the other supernaturals had been limited because they tend to avoid witches and hated them.

Having someone from an important organization visit their small pack was new— it was something they never expected to happen.

"Enough!" Alpha Ramrin said. "Mr. Caro is someone important. He is going to help us. For now, we can only trust them. Or would you rather I gave them Lyle so they could impregnate her with that Alpha’s child?" His words created a suffocating silence inside the meeting room. All people looked grim.

"This is all my fault," Lyle said. "You should have just agreed to marry me off that man. It shouldn’t matter. It is for the safety of our pack."

"You are the future Alpha of our pack! How could you say something like that?" someone from the back said.

"I agree... Lyle is the future Alpha. But she also has responsibilities. If the Alpha agreed to marry Lyle off then Rock Growlers would have sent stronger warriors to protect us." One of the Delta said. "I’m sorry Alpha Ramrin but we should have married her off. Then maybe... maybe my child is still with me."

"Noel! How could you say something like that?" Betta Sammy glared at the Delta named Noel.

"Did I say something wrong?" Noel asked. "If she went to see that Alpha John and at least agree to spend the night with him then Rock Growlers packs would have accepted us and sent people to protect us! Whoever took my child would never have attacked that night!"

"Noel go out..."Alpha Ramrin said, his face had turned ugly, his gaze sharp. "I understand that you lost your child but without a future Alpha, we will be left with nothing. Now, leave this hall at once. I don’t want to see you unless you have cooled down!"

Noel looked at Alpha. Unable to take the Alpha’s gave he got up and ran out of the room.

"Anyone else who thinks that we should have given them our next Alpha?" Alpha Ramrin looked at everyone. Seeing that no one else dared to meet his gaze, he sighed. "The times have changed. Smaller packs like us have been targeted because they know we cannot defend ourselves. But Trillium had finally come. The Lycan will save us! Trillium will save us!"

"Now that seems a bit too much," Jude’s voice interrupted the Alpha. He walked in with Francheska along with Ava and Matthew.

"Mr. Caro..." Alpha Ramrin greeted but his eyes were actually glued on Matthew. "What about the barrier?"

"We were able to make it," Jude said. "Everyone should go back to their houses."

"We decided to let everyone stay inside the pack house until we sort things out." Alpha Ramrin said.

"Good." Jude acknowledged. "Very well since you have decided to stay in one place, we will take our leave."

"Mr. Caro..."

Jude looked at the brown-haired woman who called him. "My name is Lyle and I am the future Alpha of this pack. I would like to talk in private?"

"Lyle... what are you doing?"

"Something that I should be doing as the future Alpha," Lyle looked at her father. "Please father..." she pleaded.

"That is not up to me." Alpha Ramrin looked at Jude.

"Alright. You can follow me."

Lyle immediately followed Jude but was surprised when Francheska also walked inside Jude’s room.

"I would like to talk in private— " Lyle said.

"I am his guard," Francheska said without looking at Lyle. "You just met him, Miss Lyle. I hope you don’t mind me thinking that you wanted to use your body and face to seduce him so you could harm him, right?"

"What?"

"Francheska..." Jude’s eyes widened. Seeing this, Francheska just shrugged.

"Just like in the novels," she explained.

"I would never— I would never harm Mr. Caro." Lyle’s face was so red, she looked like a tomato.

"Right... " Francheska said. "It’s still better to be careful, right?"

Jude’s mouth was still open as he looked at Francheska. Then he gave an apologetic look at Lyle.

"My apologies Miss Lyle but Miss Francheska has always been good at her job of making sure that I am safe. You can say whatever it is that you want to say."

Lyle frowned as she hesitated.

"I just... I just wanted to ask you if you know that I may be the reason why Rock Growlers won’t help us."

"The reason?" Jude sat down. He looked at the coffee table near the couch. His eyes landed on the gin that wasn’t there earlier when they left the room. He knew that someone must have placed it inside when they left for a couple of minutes.

But the question is...

Why?

For some reason, he started to grow suspicious. He then looked at Francheska who was intently listening to Lyle’s answer. He wondered if he was starting to overthink because of Francheska’s novel references.
