Chapter 383: Insurance Policy 2

Jude never liked his father.

And hearing someone call him smart just like his father has always been one of his pet peeves. He used to ignore those comments and over the years, he stopped feeling anything.

Or so he thought.

Hearing those words in this situation isn’t helping him at all.

"There are a dozen werewolves outside..." Ava’s voice suddenly echoed inside his head. "This place was surrounded by cameras and that Alpha is watching you."

Jude clenched his jaw.

What was he supposed to do?

He heard a snap and the next thing he knew, Ava was already standing next to him. He looked at her horrified.

She couldn’t fool the cameras. How could it be possible to use magick even when they have —

"What are you doing!?"

"We have seconds... " Ava said. She then made a hand gesture and the next thing he knew one of the glass walls near him broke into tiny pieces. The kids inside screamed. Then they stopped moving.

"Illusion..." Ava said.

"What are you talking about?"

"Listen to me." Ava looked at him. "They are alive. This is all an illusion. Tell them you strangled them."

"How did you— "

"I cannot fool the cameras. But I know how to destroy one." As someone who worked with Trillium, witches are taught some spells that could create some disturbance to avoid the detection of cameras and other electronic materials like CCTV and even a phone.

Trillium wanted to keep the supernaturals safe. It is only natural that they create a spell that could hide them from people. If not for this spell, technology would have caught them by now.

"What?"

"Why do I have to fool them when I can just cause some electrical disturbance?" Ava rolled her eyes. Then she pushed him towards the room. Sadly, before he could complain, Ava already vanished.

A hiss echoed and this time, the werewolves that Ava was talking about barged into the space.

Jude lifted an eyebrow.

"What is going on?" he asked when he spotted Alpha John among them. Alpha John didn’t answer. Instead, he narrowed his eyes toward Jude then started looking at the destruction and death before him.

"The camera’s stopped working." Alpha John said. This time, there was no longer a smile on his face.

"And?"

"The timing was very suspicious Mr. Caro. I may not be someone from trillium but I know suspicious when I see one."

"Alpha John, I did what you just told me to do."

"I can see that," Alpha John said.

"And I would do it all over again," Jude said. "If that is the only thing that is stopping me from becoming stronger. I would do it all over again."

Alpha John lifted an eyebrow. Then he smiled.

"Escort Mr. Caro back to the guest house. We are going to check what happened. Then... I am going to call you once we are done. I hope you understand there are— "

"Certain measures..." Jude interrupted him. "I know and I completely understand." With that, Jude followed one of the werewolves outside.

"What do you think?" Alpha John asked one of his subordinates as he stared at Jude’s lonely back.

"I can see his ambitions but that was just too suspicious..." his subordinate was one of his trusted aides inside this laboratory. While he was dressed in all black just like the rest of his people, this man was actually a doctor and has a pretty high position inside this facility.

Everyone calls him Mr. Frankenstein because of the huge scar on his face but the Alpha calls him Dr. Ochea.

"I know..." Alpha John said. "Examined everything. I don’t want anything left untouched."

"Yes, Alpha."

Alpha John narrowed at the kid’s body. There were three of them and he didn’t need to touch them to know that they were all dead. There were no heartbeats and they have indeed stopped breathing. He looked at the other kids and smiled when he saw the fear in their eyes.

The children were taken by that entity and he had been slowly consuming them for his own entertainment.

Speaking of that entity it has been hours since it left and it hasn’t come back yet. He couldn’t help but wonder if he found entertaining prey this time.

"We are leaving," he said. "Clean everything. Dispose of the bodies... properly." And by properly, he meant grinding their bones and mixing them into the soil that would fertilize the flowers in his gardens.

"Jude Caro is a good addition to the team. I have read his information and I knew how he screw his own father to get that promotion."

"I know," Alpha John said. "He wouldn’t trust anyone. But he would trust their ambition. Greed is something common to most people but not everyone dared to satisfy their greedy hearts. Jude Caro will be very useful for him, especially now that he wanted to start increasing his presence inside the US.

"Have you talked to the other Alphas in the US?" he asked.

"I have." Dr. Ochea said as they started walking towards the door that would lead them to the laboratory.

"And?"

"Well... they have confirmed that the Lycans agreed to work with the werewolves to catch the rogues."

"And? What’s with that look?"

"Alpha Trystan said something... about that Lycan."

"You mean Matthew Graydon?"

"Yes. He said... he is freakishly strong. Too strong. He told us not to attack him or something suspicious."

"Strong? Eh? Isn’t that normal? He is a Lycan after all. And a prince at that."

"Well... this time, he said it wasn’t normal as he was stronger than the rest of the Lycans. He said Mr. Graydon was supposed to become the next King of the Lycans but he refused and give the position to his brother instead."

"The next King of the Lycans?" Alpha John smiled as he wondered if that entity wanted Matthew because of this. That entity was adamant that he wanted Matthew’s body. Was it just because he knew that Matthew was strong? Or did he know he was supposed to be the next King of Lycans?

"Very well... tell me about the results of the recent experiments."
