Chapter 384: Insurance Policy 3

"A breakthrough?" Alpha John lifted an eyebrow surprised at Dr. Ochea’s words. "How? I always thought they were looking into the wrong specimen or the wrong body." Experimenting on witches was different since witches usually don’t have a strong physique. They are on the weaker side of the spectrum.

Moreover, experimenting with magick is very very difficult and more complicated. At least for Alpha John. This is why he and his team are looking into supernaturals with stronger bodies to create the perfect one. They have been focusing more on increasing the strength of the body.

When he heard that those people chose to experiment on a witch, he laughed. A witch of all people!? How could they be so stupid? Again, witches only have magick, not an indestructible body. So, he watched as they failed and failed and failed to find the perfect witch, the perfect specimen.

But now, Dr. Ochea just told him that one of their witches showed signs of waking up after being in a coma for more than twenty-five years. He had so many questions.

They injected the witch with different types of blood from other species to see if she would survive. From Demon blood to the blood of the daemons. Even people who received essences from both demons and angels!

It was bizarre.

He heard this had changed the countenance of the witch and ruined her body.

Now, the question is.... Did it make the witch’s body stronger?

"Sadly, after waking up, she fell into another coma. However, this one is different as they recorded some positive movements in her brain. They have been discussing things such as the witch might be a dream walker and is currently doing some astral projection. Of course, these are mere conjectures. However, we are going to fix this issue very soon."

"What do you mean?"

"We are planning to conduct some experiments and use some of our new tools to sense a dream walker."

"Finally some good news." Alpha John smiled. It had been so long. It is time to finally have a tool that could detect those people. "What about the rogues?"

"We have sent new batches to the US and Mexico. They are undergoing some testing to see if this batch is stronger than the other."

"It should be... right?" Alpha John said as he arrived in his office.

"Yes. It should be."

"Good. Tell them to create as much chaos as possible. The world needed a villain for them to recognize a hero. It is our time to finally reveal our existence to the world."

Dr. Ochea said nothing. He only gave a curt smile and followed Alpha John toward the secret door at the back of his bookshelf.

The two of them walked in silence in a dark hallway.

Contrary to the hallway that they traverse earlier, this is not only darker, but it also lacked all the other things that were used to furnish the other. There was no concrete on the pathway. There were only rocks— like a typical cave.

It was hot and the sound of an underground stream echoed.

The two of them walked for a few more minutes before they arrived in front of an iron door. The door opened and they walked in.

Inside the door was a prison— a bland one at that.

The room was circular. It was made like that to stop the one inside from trying to kill himself by bumping his head into the edge of the copper and bronze that was used around the room. The only source of light was a small bulb with a dim light that wasn’t even enough to light up the whole place.

"Aren’t you tired?" Alpha John said. He stood by the door and watched as Dr. Ochea put some stale bread on the floor. They were old and moldy, yet the one inside grabbed them without saying anything.

"Look at you..." Alpha John said. "You no longer look like the man that you used to be. Long dirty hair and goddess you smell awful. Aren’t you tired of staying in this place? Ten years is ... it’s a bit long, isn’t it?"

"Kill me," the man said in a hoarse voice. Upon closer inspection, one would notice the toilet and inside the room. There was also water from a nearby crack in the walls. The man with long matted hair sat next to the toilet as he started eating the bread without an iota of care that it was already moldy or that he there were people inside the room watching him with ridicule.

"How could we kill a smart man like you?" freewebnoveℓ.com

"I would never give you what you want."

"All I am asking is for you to work with me."

The man snorted as he finished the bread.

"You are not just a powerful witch, you are really smart and someone who should understand the reason why we wanted to do this. How could you refuse when we have the same goals?"

"Kill me," the man lifted his head and looked at Alpha John, showing his determined green eyes that looked like gems under the lighting of the room.

Surprisingly, the man didn’t look angry. In fact, he looked calm— too calm. His eyes were devoid of any emotion that a man should have after being imprisoned for years.

"I can’t do that."

"It’s either that or you watch me die. Suit yourself." Finished speaking, the man suddenly lay on the cold floor and turned his back against them.

Seeing this, Dr. Ochea and Alpha John frowned and look at each other. Then they closed the door and started walking back to Alpha John’s office.

"It took us years to find him hiding in the Mourning Pits. He had been here for more than ten years. Who would have thought that he would still act like this?" Dr. Ochea said. "Should we just kill him?"

"Kill him?" Alpha John snorted. How could they kill someone who knows everything about that witch that the other group had been experimenting on? They were lucky to capture him alive! There is no way that he would kill someone as valuable as that!
