Chapter 387: The Relic 1

However, this question raised another issue.

The treatment started fifteen years ago. That was a very very long time. Meaning, these people had been planning this longer than that. Perhaps it might have started even before Jude was born! He narrowed his eyes. "I see..."Jude said. "So this project— "

"Has started even before I became the Alpha."

And that was a long time ago.

"So..." Alpha John said. "How about we start with the introduction to the laboratory? We will do some testing to see if you qualify for the next round of treatment. I would also show you some of the research that we just started."

"Alright."

The two of them went to the same entrance where Jude had his insurance policy test. However, the Alpha took him to the other side of the hallway. After that, Alpha John introduced him to various people including Dr. Ochea and his assistants. According to Alpha John Dr. Ochea is the current head of the project in this region. Again, this emphasized that there were other laboratories not just in the US but also in Europe and all over the world.

After doing a series of tests, Alpha John said that he is going to inform him when would be the next treatment.

"I thought you are going to destroy the facility?" Jude said when he arrived inside his room. It didn’t take too long for Ava to show up behind him.

"During your treatment." Ava walked past him and sat on the seating area in his suite room.

"Why?" he followed her.

"Because we need to steal his files."

"How come I am not that surprised to hear you say that?"

Ava rolled her eyes in response. Why does it sound like she’s this supervillain stealing files from people? She’s not. This was her first time stealing files. Well... maybe the first time that she informed someone about it?

"Are you going to stop me?"

"No. Please feel free to do what you want."

"You look defeated." Ava chuckled. "I haven’t seen you with that look before."

"No— I— "

"Was it because of your father?"

"Yes," he answered. "I just didn’t think he would actually— " he sat opposite Ava and let out a sigh. "You know I always thought that he was just some ass, you know?"

Ava pursed her lips in response. Well... she has no adult male figure in her life so she really couldn’t say anything about it.

"My mother stayed..." Jude said. "Despite the abuse. She stayed."

"She’s a werelion, right?"

"A passive one," Jude said. "At that time, I never understood why she would let him hurt her. She’s strong and ... I have seen her fight. I know she could fight."Another sigh left his lips as he leaned back and close his eyes. "Now, I understood... She didn’t do it because she was a coward. She did it because of us... for her cubs."

Ava said nothing. Parents sacrifice something most of the time. And sometimes, they tend to just do it without even any explanation. Again, she thought of the relic that Samuel gave her. She was certain there was some sort of explanation for that relic. But... would that satisfy her?

Or make her more curious?

Should she just listen to it?

"You should talk to your father. Get some closer or something."

"My father and I... were never close," Jude said. "I don’t see myself talking to him about... I mean not like that."

"I know," Ava said.

"But we are not here to talk about that," Jude said. "I want to talk about that research."

"What about it?"

"You heard it, there are other groups out there. If we could— "

"Finally!" Ava interrupted him. "If I didn’t hear those words I would have already blown up that space."However, Alpha John said something about the other teams. If she could find information about those teams then... Ava would have lesser problems. Plus, there is something else that seemed to beckon her in that place. Something that she thought could help her with her deal with Lucas.

The relics.

She wondered if there were some relics in that lab. If there is then... are they perhaps using it in the experiments? She had so many questions!

"Anyway, I am leaving. I haven’t had any sleep." Ava said and she disappeared before Jude could say another word. When Ava appeared again, she was already inside her room. But just as she was about to head towards her bed, she felt two strong arms hug her from behind.

"Where the hell have you been?" she asked, irritated. The smell of musk and lemon filled her senses. She could also smell some fresh aftershave. Did he just take a bath?

Ava frowned. But before she could ask any more questions, she smelled a tinge of... blood around him.

"The King is dead," Matthew whispered, his voice a little hoarse.

"What?"

"And they framed Ulva."

"It was the Queen," Ava uttered. No one else would have the guts to frame Ulva but the Queen.

"Previous Queen."

"And?"

"Nothing..." Matthew said.

"Ah!" Ava let out a surprise gasp when Matthew suddenly lifted her like a princess and walked towards the bed. He carefully laid her down and lay down next to her. Matthew lie down on his side and used his palm to support his head as he faced the irritated Ava.

Then he smiled.

"What’s wrong with you?" she asked.

"Do you want to become Queen?"

"Hm?"

"My Queen."

"I— "

"Do you want to rule the Lycans?"

"I don’t think that is going to happen. I am a witch." They would never allow her to rule. Plus... a Queen? She never saw herself as someone that would rule a plane."

"That place is definitely safer than this realm. The people from the Shadow realm are here. They have planned to occupy this realm and are now slowly influencing the events in this world. I think it’s time that we build a place just for the two of us, no?"

Ava said nothing but a part of her actually agreed.

"But what about... Drigo and the rest?" she asked.
