Ava couldn’t help but shake as Matthew consoled her.
Those eyes....
We’re just like hers! Exactly like hers!
What the hell happened?
Who was that man?
Wait...
Ava’s eyes widened.
"No way..." she said.
"What?"
"There’s no way," she repeated over and over again.
"What’s wrong?"
"Something is inside that... door."
"Did you see it?"
"Him..." Ava looked at Matthew. "I saw him!"
Matthew frowned. "The Alpha is coming. We should get out of here..." sadly for them, Alpha John is coming back.
Ava nodded. Still shaken she teleported out of the room and went back to her room.
When they got back, Matthew immediately handed her a bottle of water from the mini-fridge inside the room. Their room wasn’t exactly as large as Jude’s but it was well equipped with necessitates like a bar and a mini fridge.
"What did you see?" he asked, his expression grim.
"You didn’t see it?"
"No. I couldn’t."
"Couldn’t?"
"That place was designed to hide the detection from people that didn’t come from this realm."
Ava blinked.
"Though, I didn’t think that you would be able to sense anything as it had something that should have stopped any witch from sensing it."
"Copper and iron?" Ava asked.
"Yes," Matthew clenched his jaw.
Now that Ava thought about it... what she saw was different. It’s not something that her magick should have— "I think... I think it was my father." She met Matthew’s eyes.
"Your father..."
"He had the same green eyes as mine and I— I only saw the eyes of the person inside that room."
"So he is still alive?"
"And had been captured." Ava wasn’t sure if it was her father. However, her instincts were telling her that it should be him. But he should be dead! She saw him die. She saw him being attacked by shifters— hybrids. Being torn into pieces. It took her a long time to forget about the screams— his screams. It took her a lot of nights to forget about the smell of blood, the smell of desperation, and death.
So... why was he still alive?
Ava shook her head.
"Maybe I was wrong," she said. "Maybe it wasn’t him. There is no way that it was him. He’s already dead." She lowered her eyes and bit her lower lip. Then she thought of the relic that Samuel gave her. She needed to see what was inside that relic!
She needed to know!
However, before she could ask Matthew to leave her alone so she could check the relic, a knock came from the doorway. Matthew opened it, revealing a woman dressed in a black kimono. She had dark hair and equally dark brown eyes. She looked at Matthew then she smiled.
"Alpha John asked me to summon you."
"In the middle of the night?" Matthew’s face grew even darker.
"Yes."
"I am quite occupied," Matthew moved, showing the woman that Ava was inside his room.
"Oh, the Alpha said it was urgent."The woman lifted her red lips. "I hope you don’t mind."
"You should follow her," Ava said. "I will be fine."
"But you haven’t been feeling well..." Matthew said. Since they arrived, Matthew already told everyone that Ava wasn’t feeling too well and chose to stay inside their room. He also used the same reasoning to avoid the Alpha. After all, Ava was his witch.
"It’s alright," Ava smiled. "I will be fine. I will wait here."
"Alright." Matthew met Ava’s eyes. Seeing her smile, he nodded and left with the woman.
"Please call me Riane," the woman said. "I will be taking you to the Pack House. Please follow me."
Matthew said nothing. How could he miss the woman’s flirtatious glances? He thought of killing her but surely, Ava would disagree. So, he followed behind her. Of course, he maintained an appropriate distance. Not too close, not too far away. By doing this, his urge to separate the woman’s neck from her body lessened.
But it seems that the woman was really relentless. Not long after they started walking out of the guest house, she accidentally stumbled into what looked like a rock and fell toward Matthew. Sadly, Matthew was quick to avoid her.
In the end, her supple body fell on the cobblestone with a loud thud.
She let out a surprised squeal, like a fucking animal that was asking to be killed.
Matthew glared at her.
"You should watch your steps. Aren’t you a werewolf? Why are you acting like a damn mouse?"
"I— "
"Get up," Matthew growled and released his suffocating aura. Almost immediately the woman’s face paled. She trembled.
"What is going on here?" another voice interrupted them.
Matthew turned to see another woman. Dressed in a black suit, the woman walked towards them, her brows furrowed as she stared at Riane who was still on the ground.
"Lady Jade..." Riane said.
"Get up. What are you embarrassing yourself to our guest?" Lady Jade said. She stood in front of Matthew. "I am Jade. I have not seen you before. I presume you are one of Mr. Caro’s men?"
Matthew nodded.
"Please forgive Riane, she’s still a bit clumsy. She just started assisting my uncle."
When Matthew said nothing, Lady Jade added, "Let me take you to the pack house instead."
Again, Matthew said nothing.
However, it looked like the woman named Jade doesn’t really care about this as she started walking towards the pack house. Seeing this, Matthew followed her without saying another word.
"I haven’t seen you join us for breakfast and lunch. Was it because the food wasn’t to your liking?" Lady Jade spoke. "Please feel free to tell me your preferences so I could make some adjustments."
"No need. I am not planning to join Mr. Caro and the Alpha in their breakfast."
"Oh... but aren’t you a Lycan prince?"
Matthew lifted an eyebrow. The Alpha didn’t actually acknowledge that he is a Lycan Prince. Plus, he never showed any interest in him at all.
"You must be wondering why I know, right?" the woman stopped walking and looked at him.
