Chapter 390: The Relic 4

The lines between Matthew’s brows turned deeper.

"Tonight, I specifically came here to talk to you."

"I don’t have the time," Matthew said.

"I know you would say that— "

"You just heard me. I said I have no time. Take me to your Alpha."

"You won’t even hear what I was going to say?"

Matthew glared at the woman.

"Your highness I think— "

"Are you going to take me to see him? Or not?

Matthew’s words clearly surprised the woman. Her eyes widened but she quickly recovered and nodded. "Please follow me." The woman said.

"Though I am honestly surprised that you still insisted to see my uncle considering that a woman like me asked for a private conversation."

"You are thinking too highly of yourself," Matthew’s short response was akin to a sharp knife.

The woman stopped walking for a few seconds before she continued. His words were indeed a jab to her pride. As someone who was the niece of the Alpha, Jade grew up with everyone practically worshipping her and treating her like a goddess. It wasn’t just because of her beauty. It was also because she was one of the best fighters in this pack. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

And yet Matthew easily told her off.

Not long after, the two of them arrived inside the packhouse. She led him towards the Alpha’s study.

"Alpha, Mr. Graydon is here..."

"Ah... very good. Mr. Graydon, please forgive me for not being so accommodating. I have been very busy in the past few days." The Alpha extended his hand, intending to shake Matthew’s hand.

"Apology accepted," Matthew said. He didn’t bother shaking the Alpha’s hand as he walked past him. He was not here to socialize. Right now, all he could think about was Ava.

"Oh... ah..." the Alpha’s face reddened as he withdrew his hand and turned towards his table. Matthew was already seated on the chair across from his. The man was clearly not showing him an iota of respect and the Alpha concluded that this was because Matthew was looking down on him. "Please take a seat," Alpha John said.

"Is there a reason why you would want to talk to me?" Matthew said without beating around the bush. He could still feel the woman’s presence behind him and it is indeed irritating him. Should he just kill her?

"I know you are upset because I wasn’t able to cater to your needs. After all, you are still a prince." Alpha John said, cordially. It looked like the man already forgot the fact that Matthew disrespected him earlier. Of course, this was not just because the Alpha had a lot of experiences with people like Matthew.

It was because he knew that Matthew is a prince. As a prince, the Alpha thought that Matthew was upset because the Alpha didn’t even acknowledge him when he arrived. He didn’t take some time to invite Matthew to his study. Instead, he talked to Jude.

The Alpha intentionally did this to create a rift between Jude and the Lycan.

And it looked like he was succeeding.

Or so Alpha John thought.

Alpha John smiled. "Please accept this wine as my apology..."

"I prefer whiskey," Matthew said blandly.

"My it looked like you are just like me. Jade, please give us the best whiskey that we have."

"Yes Alpha," Jade said.

"Again, I would like to apologize for everything. There was a little emergency and I was forced to focus on that instead of welcoming you to my simple abode."

Matthew only stared at the Alpha in response.

While Ava was good at pissing people off, Matthew was really good at making people feel awkward. And he was succeeding.

Alpha John couldn’t help but sigh.

"I asked to see you because I wanted to discuss the rogue problems. I believe we found their base not far away from here."

"A base?"

"Yes. We cannot confirm this but tomorrow, you can accompany my people to scout them. Of course, I am not forcing you to do anything. This is only if you want to."

"I would like to think about it. I would have to ask Mr. Caro as well. He could— "

"Mr. Caro is not coming."

"Pardon me?" Matthew asked.

"Mr. Caro needed to discuss some things with me. So unfortunately he won’t be able to come."

"So you wanted me to accompany your people and scout the rogues...

"Yes. That is only if— "

"Alright."

"Oh?"

"Is that all?"Matthew asked. He needed to go back to talk to Ava.

"Yes, Mr. Graydon that is all."

"Good..."Matthew got up.

"You are already leaving?"

"Is there any reason for me to stay?"

"Well..." As if on cue, Jade came back with a whiskey in hand. "My niece just brought us whiskey. It is one of the best in the world. How about having a drink with me? Aren’t you curious about the werewolves?"

"No, I am not."

"Oh... then... " Alpha John couldn’t help but feel exhausted while talking to Matthew. The man was... weird. Yet, he couldn’t deny the fact that Matthew was strong. Even he, whose body had been altered because of the treatment, knew that he would be no match against Matthew.

"I am leaving," Matthew said and without looking back, he left the office, leaving an angry Alpha and an irritated Jade.

"What was that?" Jade immediately complained to his uncle when Matthew left. "I have never met someone so— disrespectful!"

"He is a Lycan," Alpha John said. "Lycans were always arrogant. They always look down on other shifters." He gritted his teeth. Right now, he is determined to become even stronger. Soon, he would have his chance to fight against that man. And...he would make sure to make him suffer before taking his head off.

"Why are you still here? Go and follow him!" he said.

"Follow him!? He — Alpha— I don’t think he would talk to me. He seemed upset. Perhaps it was because we didn’t treat him like royalty?"

"That must be it. Then go and follow him and tell him that he should move to a suite... as the Prince, he deserves one."

"But..." But Jade had the feeling that this wouldn’t be enough to appease Matthew
