Chapter 391: The Relic 5

Meanwhile, Ava immediately opened the velvet box that Samuel gave her when Matthew left.

She sat at the edge of the bed staring at what looked like a ring with a blue diamond-like stone. It sparkled against the dim lighting as if it was luminous. Strange.

She didn’t know any blue stone that looked like a diamond yet had a luminous property.

Wearing the ring, she closed her eyes and opened her mind. This is going to be the first time that she would use a relic like this but she was familiar with its uses because of the things that she gained from the Shaman.

"Eve..."

Ava trembled when she heard her father’s voice. Eve? He was calling her Eve?

"If you are listening to this then it means that... Gabriella already found you. I don’t know the circumstances you are currently in. However, I would like you to know that whatever it is that is happening, you must trust that Gabriella would never harm you."

The voice stopped them a vision appeared inside her head.

"No magick?" The words were spoken by Gabriella. She was frowning as if she was staring straight at her. Then Ava realized that this is the memory of the person talking to Gabriella.

"Yes, no magick," he heard her father’s voice.

"She’s a witch and you don’t want me to teach her magick?"

"I don’t want you to teach her anything."

"Are you insane? She wouldn’t be able to defend herself from them!"

"It is the only way for her to stay safe. No magick. No shifters. She should grow up like— like a normal human."

"Both of us know that she is not normal. She would never be normal."

Her father let out a sigh. "You must promise me G. You are not going to teach her anything of the supernatural."

"How— I don’t understand. If you want her to be safe then why not teach her how to defend herself?"

"It is you who do not understand. Eve is a very... very special child. She cannot learn magick at a young age. She won’t be able to control it."

"Are you telling me that she could learn magick only when... she’s older?"

"At least when she turned twenty-one."

"That is too late. Why not let her join a school? Or anything that— "

"No school. Please G. Not any school. They would immediately know it’s her. She needs to be at least twenty-one before she learns how to control her magick."

Gabriella stared at him. She narrowed her eyes. "You can’t hide her forever. I understand that you wanted to keep her safe but..."

"Please..."

Gabriella sighed in response.

"Alright," she said.

"Thank you. I know I could trust you."

"You are just leaving her like this?"

"It’s the only way. To trigger her abilities."

"You are going to torture a young child’s emotion just because you wanted her to awaken her magick?"

"It is the only way."

Gabriella glared at him. "You keep on saying that you wanted to keep her safe but you wanted her to awaken her magick at this age then you refused to teach her anything. Do you want her to die? Trillium would hear about it!! A child who cannot use her abilities has a higher chance of harming another child. Do you want them to take her?"

"Then you join Trillium."

"What?"

"You have to join Trillium. To hide her."

"Are you out of your mind? Trillium is— they are looking for you!"

"What better way to hide from them than to actually join them?"

"You— " Gabriella looked like she was at her wit’s end. "You should be thankful I am someone that would honor my promises."

A sigh escaped her father’s lips. "I know you would honor your promise."

"We both know this is not the right thing to do," Gabriella said. "That poor child... I cannot even..."

"It is for her own good."

"Torturing a child for her own good..." Gabriella didn’t hide the sarcasm in her voice. "She is your daughter. How could you even do this to her?"

"Again, I have no choice. If you let her join a school, they would immediately know it’s her and they would take her and... I cannot let them do that to her. I already failed once, G. I cannot fail again."

Then the vision vanished. There was only blackness as the voice spoke.

"If you have the same ability as your mother then you should know that people are going to come after you. Trust Gabriella. She knows how to protect you. I would trust her with my life, Eve. I hope you would do the same."

Once again, the vision changed. This time, his father was watching the small Ava on the bed. She was sleeping, peacefully.

"I’m sorry Eve... I really do..." he said as he lowered his face and kissed Ava’s forehead. "I would do everything to protect you. Even if that means... I wouldn’t be able to see you again." He stroked her hair and added. "Yes. It’s better this way. We shouldn’t see each other again."

A loud bang echoed. ƒгeewebnovёl_com

Ava felt warm tears flow down her cheeks. She knew what happened next.

That room... she knew that room.

It was when... it was when they killed him.

Her chest started to feel heavier and heavier.

"You can trust Gabriella until you meet him," the voice added. "The dark one..." it said. "You must trust the darkness itself. He will be your savior."

Slowly, Ava felt like water filled her lungs. As if she was... drowning. She struggled to breathe.

The dark one?

Matthew?

She wanted to ask the voice. But she knew it was for naught. Not long after, her vision went black.

"I love you, Eve. Always... remember that."

"Humph!" Ava jolted up, beads of sweat appeared on her forehead. She felt like she drowned and got pulled out of the water. Her chest raised and fell as tears slowly ran down her chest.

Her father... might be alive.
