That electric problem didn’t mean anything.
That was the conclusion that they had after all the examinations that they did.
However, Dr. Ochea didn’t agree. For some reason, he felt that something else is going on here. He anticipated that Jude and his people would come and wreck the laboratory. He was prepared with men and ammunition enough to incapacitate even a Lycan.
So, when the electricity had a problem, he immediately thought that they were already inside.
He told his people to kill anyone that they didn’t recognize.
In the end, the electricity came back and upon closer inspection, nothing was missing. Nothing was amiss.
Dr. Ochea couldn’t believe it. He was almost sure that it was the work of Jude and his people.
"Are you convinced now?" Alpha John looked towards the fireplace, he had a whiskey in his hand, a book in the other.
"I am," Dr. Ochea lied. "Though, I still don’t believe in coincidences..."
"Please, Dr. Just accept that you are wrong this time."
Dr. Ochea wanted to tell him that he wasn’t wrong but without proof, his mere opinions are just that... opinions. And everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But the thing is, the other party does not have any responsibility to agree to the opinion of the other.
As a man from the science community, Dr. Ochea was already used to arguments like this.
"I have talked to that Lycan myself and I know he had no interest in this pack. Why would he? We are far from the rest of the world. He must have thought that the rogues were only rampant in the US." Alpha John snorted. "Wrong move..." That would be a very... very stupid belief.
"The man thought that everyone would respect him. He was used to it. So when I didn’t show him any respect, his mood soured. He refused to leave his room and just spent his time with his witch."
"I heard from the other werewolves that Mr. Graydon is very protective of his witch. They believed, he is sleeping with her."
A scoff escaped Alpha John’s lips.
"How stupid," he said. "Was that the reason why he refused to become King?" he looked at the Dr. "Was it?"
"Yes, they think so."
"A pussy?" this time, Alpha John laughed. He couldn’t stop himself. Who would have thought that the Lycan who was throwing a tantrum because of this treatment was actually in love with a witch? He would even throw away a crown just to fuck someone?
How naive!
He had never met anyone as naive as the Lycan!
"And here I thought Lycans also have superior brains. I was wrong." Alpha John snorted. He was so wrong.
Dr. Ochea calmly drank his own whiskey.
"I do not understand why people would sacrifice something like that just for a woman. That man refused to marry anyone and even dared to challenge the rest of the noble families because of that woman. Wasn’t he sacrificing too much because of a witch? It’s not like he could mark her."
Another chuckle escaped Alpha John’s lips. He never expected the Lycan to be this stupid!
However, this conversation somewhat made him curious about the identity of that witch. Was she someone special?
"Can you hand me her file?" he asked. In response, Dr. Ochea got the tablet that contained Ava’s file and handed it to the Alpha.
Alpha John opened it and stared at Ava’s face. "Strange..." he immediately said.
"What is it?"
"Her eyes..."
"Green?" Dr. Ochea shrugged. "That must be because of the lighting. We saw her and her eyes weren’t that green... it was more of a lighter blue than a deeper shade of green.
"Still, I think it’s strange," Alpha John continued reading. "An orphan. Foster house. Adopted. Mother is dead, and brother is missing along with his family. This woman had a tragic life."
"I agree."
"She had been working with Trillium and had quite an accomplishment." The Alpha added. "But no awards or any promotion?"
"Must be one of the crazy ones who prefer to stay in the field than sit behind an office desk with their name plastered on the door," the Doctor said.
"She is indeed very pretty. But don’t you think she’s just a little too... bland?"
"Bland?"
"Well, I was expecting someone with explosive achievements. A woman that everyone would want. A powerful witch, a strong fighter. But this one... is just a killing machine. No witchcraft school. Just some training that only lasted for months. Isn’t that very strange?"
"Hmmm.... Now that I thought about it."
"Do you see any unique thing about her?"
"None."
"Then... why would someone like a Prince would suddenly sacrifice everything for her?"
"Perhaps her pussy’s just a little tighter?" Dr. Ochea said with a straight face. "Surely, that must have enticed the stupid prince, right?"
"Are you seriously telling me that someone like a Lycan Prince would think about how tight someone’s pussy is?"
"Who knows?" Dr. Ochea said.
In response, the Alpha shook his head. No. Something else is going on here.
"We will find out tomorrow." Alpha John said.
"What do you mean?"
"I prepared a trap for the Lycan. If she is indeed a strong witch who is just hiding her strength, it is only right that she would try and help him out. Then we will find out if she’s indeed as bland as her files." Alpha John handed the tablet back to the Doctor.
"A trap?"
"I asked him to accompany some of our Lycans to a small village with suspected rogues."
"And he agreed?"
"Does he have a choice? Perhaps, he just wanted to gain something on this trip. I made sure to show him that I respected Jude more. So he would try and do something about it." Shifters, humans, and witches have something in common. Despite the difference in strength and abilities, they have the tendency to develop jealousy, insecurities, and of course cruelty.
The Alpha already did his best to make the Lycan hate Jude. This would prompt the Lycan to hide things from Jude and do something on his own. That would give the entity the time to... take him.
Speaking of that entity.... The Alpha’s face turned darker.
Until now, the entity hadn’t made its presence known. He wasn’t really that worried about it as it was even stronger than him. However, he couldn’t help but wonder if that entity was causing trouble somewhere. That would mean a lot of cover-ups. A lot of problems!
The Alpha already had too much on his plate!
He couldn’t deal with some more problems right now.
"While this is happening, we are going to do the first round of treatment with Mr. Caro. We should have enough time to take care of everything as discreetly as possible."
"Those rogues just received the new rounds of treatment a few days ago. This means that they are still high from it and are incredibly strong. If they accidentally kill the Lycan— "
"Then it would be better," Alpha John smiled. "Accidents happen. If he dies... then he can only blame himself for being weak. Isn’t that so?"
"I agree..." Dr. Ochea smiled and tilted his whiskey towards the Alpha before downing it all in one go. "I agree."
.................
Until she met him...
Was he talking about Matthew?
Her father’s words echoed inside her head as she stared blankly at Matthew’s worried face.
"Are you alright?" he asked, his perfectly crafted brows furrowed. "Ava?"
She blinked and swallowed her nonexistent saliva.
"I think my father might be alive..." she said.
"What?"
"I think he is alive... and he is inside that cave or room or whatever that is."
"How did you— " Matthew’s eyes landed on the ring on Ava’s finger. "That’s a relic..."
Ava nodded. "From my father. Or at least that’s what Samuel says."
"He left an imprint on that ring?"
"A memory imprint," Ava said, she turned her head away. Priestess Anna said that she is someone that is not supposed to exist. And now that she heard her father’s words, she’s starting to believe that maybe... maybe she is really someone that isn’t supposed to exist.
"He asked Gabriella not to let me learn magick. Not to teach me anything about the witches, about the shifters." Ava added.
"That’s absurd..." Matthew said. "You are a witch."
"A witch who never had any education. I hated magick when I was younger and I thought all it could bring me is... death." Ava said. Now that she saw her father’s relic, she realized that all her life, she had been manipulated. She was manipulated as a child, as a teenager, and maybe as an adult.
If her father is alive then... what if Gabriella is also alive? fгeewebnovёl.com
After all, the body that they found was too mangled.
What if everything was just a lie? Everything about her?
"Hey..." Matthew held her hand and squeeze it. "Look at me." Ava complied. She stared at his silver-gray eyes that somehow gave her the comfort that she needed. She swallowed as she tried to stop the tears from falling out of her eyes.
She wanted to pretend to be strong.
But she couldn’t do it in front of his silver-gray eyes. Unable to stop herself, Ava burst into tears.
Almost immediately, he pulled her into his broad chest and enveloped her in a tight hug.
"Shhhh..." she heard him say as he stroked her hair. She buried her face into his chest as she hugged him back.
"Shhh..." he whispered.
