"Where is he?" Alpha John asked one of the medical team that helped him earlier. "Mr. Caro! Has anyone seen him?"
"No... I believe— "
"Asked them to find him. Prioritize Mr. Caro at all costs!"
"Alpha your leg— "
"It will heal very soon! We need Mr. Caro!" the held the medical personnel’s collar. "Go and tell them to focus on Mr. Caro..."
"But your leg is still bleeding."
"Don’t mind me! Find Jude instead! Now!"
"Yes, Alpha." The medical personnel nodded and excused himself. Not long after he left the tent where Alpha John had been treated, the Alpha once again struggled to get up. Something sharp hit his head and legs. He lost consciousness but his people were able to save him before the collapse of the facility.
But it looked like Jude didn’t make it.
Damnit! He thought inwardly. How could it be like that?
If something happened to Jude...
"Hey!" he called out. Almost immediately, one of the younger medical personnel walked in. "Hey!"
"Alpha..."
"What about Dr. Ochea?"
"We— haven’t found him as well."
Hearing this, the alpha’s face turned even uglier. Dr. Ochea was the core of their experiments! He cannot die! No... that Doctor knew the ins and out of that laboratory. He should be hiding somewhere! That’s right. He is just somewhere hiding.
"Find him!"
"Yes, Alpha." The medical personnel left. This time, Alpha John ignore the pain and the numbness in his head as he found a bandage and bandage his own wound. Then he walked out of the tent and found himself outside of the now collapsed pack house.
What had to happen? He couldn’t help but asked himself as he stood there frozen, unable to comprehend what he was looking at. How could the pack house and the facility collapse?
Just what the hell happened?
"Alpha!" one of his gammas approached him. "We found at least seven deaths so far. Twelve had light injuries like bruises and cuts and five people had fatal injuries. So far..."
"What about Mr. Caro or Dr. Ochea?"
"There were no signs of them."
"Continue."
"Two of the houses that belonged to the pack were destroyed. Completely destroyed. It was because the facility was directed below these two. The others were still fine."
"How about the kids and the others?"
"They were fine. The ones not inside those two-pack houses were fine."
"Good. Give me an update every thirty minutes."
"Yes, Alpha. Oh... the humans from the nearest town must have heard the explosion as they sent three firetrucks to try and help us. I have informed them that it is nothing but a small accident and that everything is fine."
"Alright." He gestured his gamma to leave him as he continued staring at the pack house that he had built over the years. The facility was—
"Alpha... we receive another piece of news."
"What news?" he turned towards his beta.
"The group that went to the mountains... we lost contact and there is a possibility that the rogues attack them."
He frowned in response. Not everyone knew about the attack in advance so it is only understandable that he would receive news like this.
"What about Riane?"
"We cannot call her either. We are currently sending reinforcements."
"Send two people to check on them. The rest should focus on rescue operations of our people at the facility." Riane and the others were attacked by rogues but this was already planned. Riane can take care of herself. But she is a bit dramatic. So there is a possibility that she just purposely turn off communication to make it more dramatic.
That was the niece that he knew.
So right now, their focus should be on rescuing Jude and Dr. Ochea. He could take care of Riane and the rest later.
Speaking of Riane...
He thought of the entity who had suddenly gone missing.
What could have happened to him?
Did it perhaps try to possess Matthew and failed?
Impossible! Even if Matthew is strong, he is still vulnerable to soul attacks. He is still a creature from this world. He is unlike that entity. So where could he be?
The timing was just too much of a coincidence.
That entity actually left and then the facility suddenly had an accident!?
He tried to wrap his head around the thought of the entity betraying him. But why? And how? No. That’s simply impossible. That entity had been attached to him for years. There is no way that he would leave and betray him now.
So where could he be?
After a while, he started walking toward the small tents that housed the injured and started checking on them. Of course, many of them saw the bandage on his head and legs and actually thought that he went to check on them despite the injuries that he sustained when he only went there to talk about the incident and to assure them that they could always talk to him if they spotted something out of the ordinary.
"Are you certain you saw Mr. Caro running towards the exit?" he asked when one of his employees told him that he saw Jude. "But the lights were already bad. The debris was all over the place and I thought he would be able to survive. After all, he is a werelion. He is strong— even stronger than me." The one who told him this was a woman who worked in one of the laboratories at the facility.
Just as he was about to ask more questions, he heard someone call his name.
"Alpha! Alpha.... We have an urgent matter!" one of his people said.
"What is it?"
"They found Lady Riane and she is— "
"What!?" Alpha John asked, irritated. Did Riane over do her antics this time?
"No, she— "
"Alpha, you should come with us! Lady Riane and the others are here and— " another one came inside the tent.
"And what?"
"She’s fatally injured!"
"What?" Alpha John frowned. This— This isn’t part of the plan! He gritted his teeth as he followed them outside of the tent. The possibility that Riane only did it for attention was almost a hundred percent. Or at least that’s what he thought.
Until he saw her niece’s mangled body without limbs.
