Chapter 405: The Stupid Lycan 14

"Hey! What — are you going to leave me here? Mr. Caro! What are you doing? Please save me! I can’t be here— "

"Mr. Caro! Please— " the woman’s pleadings fell on deaf ears as Jude and the other started to walk away without even sparing her another glance.

"I will tell you!" the woman said. "I will tell you everything! Just please!"

The three of them stopped walking and turned towards her.

"What is on the other side of the ruins?" Jude asked. "And let me tell you. Miss Woods can detect lies. So you better tell us the truth."

"It is sector X, the secret where we do experimentations for the research."

"So, there are creatures in there?"

"Yes," the woman nodded. "If you— If you really wanted to leave then please take me with you. Even if you don’t want to rescue the Doctor just please don’t leave me here."

"And why is that?" Jude asked.

"Please Mr. Caro... I will tell you everything. I can — I can even show you where they keep the secret files."

"Secret files?"

"Of the experiments. The creatures that we experimented on and the results."

"She’s not lying," Ava said. "She is too desperate to lie. Plus if she is lying I can just remove her legs and we can leave here to die."

The woman shivered at the nonchalance in Ava’s words.

"Where are the documents?" Matthew asked.

"It’s on the other side of the ruins...."

"So you really think we would let you lead us to where there are dangerous creatures?" Jude snorted. "You really think too lowly of us..."

"No. I am not lying. The experiments are there so— we keep the file in a vault inside Dr. Ochea’s office."

"Really?" Jude lifted an eyebrow.

"Really. I am not lying. I would never lie."

"Alright..." Jude looked at Matthew and Ava. In response, Ava raised her hand and started to remove the ruins. It took her at least thirty minutes to finally remove everything, creating a pathway just enough for one person to pass by. They realized that the whole pathway that would lead them to the Doctors office collapsed. Meaning, she had to create a new pathway through the rocks, debris, and some electrical wires.

After a while, they started walking toward the Doctor’s office.

After about twenty minutes of walking. They finally found a clearing. And what they saw made them speechless!

The woman wasn’t exactly lying when she said that this is where they do all the experiments. Tubes with unknown blue liquid welcomed them. They were large and they were from the ground to the ceiling. However, because of the explosion, some of them broke.

Some of the creatures inside were still in the tube, clearly, they are already dead. Abnormally large bats, tigers, wolves, and snakes were inside the tube.

"This... what were you studying?"

"The genes of animals and humans," the woman answered.

"You experimented on animals? I always had the impression that you only used shifters and humans."

The woman nodded. "We wouldn’t be able to understand anything in this world if we miss the genes of animals. In fact, their genetics are very important for our evolution."

"Evolution..." Jude muttered.

"Yes. Evolution. That is the next step for us."

"What kind of evolution are you talking about?" Ava asked.

"A stronger and — "

"SHHH— " Matthew signaled them to stop talking. He raised his palm and shook his head. Everyone immediately looked at Matthew and then towards the dark hallway in front of them.

"Something is out there..." Matthew said with a low voice. The part that they were in still had lights on. However, it was pretty obvious that beyond this, the lights were already broken or flickering on and off, which only reminded Ava of those horror movies that she hated when she was a kid.

"Maybe it was the Doctor?" the woman said before she said in a loud voice. "Dr. Ochea!? It’s Mimi! I am here with — hmmm"

"What the fuck are you doing!?" Ava hissed. She gritted her teeth and used her magick to silence the woman. In response, the woman named Mimi widened her eyes as she stared at Ava. She opened her mouth her eyes morphing into horror when she realized that she couldn’t say a word out of her mouth. She doesn’t have a voice anymore.

’Shut it,’ Ava mouthed. What the hell is wrong with this woman? Ava thought. Why does it seem like she’s a bit stupid? Wasn’t she supposed to be like the Doctor’s assistant?

**GRRRR**

Ava frowned when she heard that growl. She looked at Matthew who was already looking back at her. Was it a Hybrid? That type of voice was too loud for a werewolf! She extended her senses and discovered that someone or something was indeed on the other darker part. This one... is clearly isn’t human.

Another growl echoed. This time, it sounded closer. And Ava didn’t like that.

"We should get going..." Matthew said. "We need to leave this place."

"Why? What is it?" Jude asked. "What— " he stopped talking when he met Matthew’s angry eyes.

"Fuck!"Matthew said. "Take them out..." he looked at Ava. "I will meet you outside."

"What?" Ava was about to ask him more questions when Matthew already ran towards the dark. Gritting her teeth, she held Jude and the woman before they vanished. They reappeared on the surface.

"Take care of her." Ava snapped a finger in front of the woman, making her forget what just happened now.

"Please don’t tell me you are going— "

"I am going."

"Ava— " Jude tried to hold her arm. "He told you that he will meet you here."

Ava only stared at Jude, a blank look appeared in her eyes.

"Take care of her," she repeated. She gave Jude one last look before vanishing.

When Ava appeared again, she was already back in the area were there with the tubes. Without hesitation, she followed Matthew in the darkness. She used her magick to enhance her sight and she succeeded.

She stopped walking and examined the bodies of an unknown creature that littered the floor. There were at least three bodies all without their heads, their chests were hollow. Did Matthew do this?
