Chapter 406: The Stupid Lycan 15

Ava continued walking. She thought she was prepared to see what was on the other side but nothing could have prepared her for what she was about to see.

"Matthew?" Ava frowned when she sensed Matthew standing not far away from her. She could see his back and he was staring at something. Slowly, she walked towards him. "Matt— " she wasn’t able to continue her words when she saw the creature in front of Matthew.

"Isn’t that— " It was Dr. Ochea and he looked— a part of him doesn’t look human.

"What have they done?" Matthew asked.

"I— "

"All of them are like that..." Matthew said. However, Ava’s attention was already on the blue rock that seemed to emit some light. It was encased in a glass box not far away from them. Without saying a word, she walked towards the rock.

It was a relic.

And it was calling her.

Meaning, this is one of the relics that Lucas wanted her to destroy.

"Don’t touch that— " Matthew appeared next to her and the two of them noticed the large crack at the side of the box. "They tried to touch it."

"So... "

"That doesn’t belong in this realm."

Ava nodded.

"I am going to destroy it." Her words made Matthew look at her.

"You are going to destroy a relic?" Matthew asked.

"Yes."

"I don’t think someone from this realm had the ability to handle a relic."

"I can," she assured him. To her surprise, Matthew said nothing more as he nodded. "You aren’t going to ask me why I can handle a relic?"

’No."

"Why?"

"Are you going to tell me the truth?" he asked as he offered her a bemused smile.

"I don’t think so."

"Then what was the point of asking?"

Right. What was the point of asking if she isn’t going to tell him the truth? Still, she found this a bit surprising. Was he really going to let her touch it?

"You aren’t a daemon or a demon," Matthew said. "But you have the characteristics of one."

At the Pits, they have already established that she was not a daemon or a demon.

"Are you telling me that only a demon or a daemon can handle a relic?"

"Them and higher beings. Celestials and dragons and my kind."

"Your kind...’

He only smiled in response. "Yes... my kind."

"Very well..." Ava slowly reached out towards the rock that was emitting blue light. Just as she expected, nothing happened when she touched it. She successfully removed it from where it was as a sudden rush of information appeared in her head. These are... memories? They are memories telling her how to destroy a relic! Lucas told her she would know once she sees one.

Until now, she had been wondering what Lucas was. Now, she was quite sure, he is someone powerful, someone, that could even bypass the limitations of the planes.

After absorbing the information, she grip the rock tighter and chanted a spell that doesn’t exist in this realm.

Even Matthew looked surprised when he heard this. Then he watched in fascination as the rock slowly crumbled on Ava’s palm until what remained was a small blue light that was only the size of a marble. Soon, the marble slowly disappeared into Ava’s palm as if her skin swallowed and absorbed its very essence.

"Wow..." Matthew and Ava said at the same time.

"I didn’t know something like that — "

"So you have met him..." Matthew said.

"Him?"

"Nevermind... we should leave. There are no more creatures in this area."

.................

"I am so glad that you are alive Jude," Samuel welcomed Jude with a hug. He smiled and patted Jude’s shoulder after the hug. Then he took him to a tent where Ava and Matthew as well as Francheska were waiting.

"You guys are back?"

"We have been for hours," Ava said.

"I fell asleep because of the medicine," Jude said. "Will someone tell me what happened? I just saw more Trillium personnel arriving."

"They found traces of rogues down there. As well as some creatures that were a product of illegal experimentation. They already took Alpha John into custody."

"That was quick," Jude said. Honestly, he expected this to take a little more time. After all, Alpha John told them that he had many connections inside Trillium. He couldn’t help but wonder if those people abandoned the Alpha when they realized that there was a lot of evidence against him.

He glanced at Ava and Matthew. It was Ava’s idea to use this explosion to get Trillium down here. And it seems that she succeeded. After all, she didn’t really give Trillium another choice. They have to come here because Jude was missing!

What kind of company would abandon someone like Jude?

"Why do you look like that?" Jude’s expression darkened when he noticed the weird vibe inside the tent. Everyone is staring at him as if —

"We just received some news..." Samuel started. "Your father... died."

"What?"

"You have my condolences, Jude. He was a great man. A reliable ally."

Jude wanted to argue. His father wasn’t a great man and maybe he was a good ally to his friends but he was never a good father. No. That man was not really a father. But how come he couldn’t say another word? His eyes turned hot as he turned his head away.

"Thanks," he said. "I have to go back... I think I need some more rest," he said as he walked out of the tent without waiting for their response.

"Is he going to be alright?" Ava asked Samuel.

"He wasn’t as close to his father but I am certain he would be alright."

Ava nodded. She turned her attention to Samuel.

"Do you have a minute? I would like to talk about something."

I believe you already checked it?" he asked.

"Yes."

"Then... may I invite you for some tea after this incident? I believe we have a lot to talk about." Samuel said, his face devoid of any expression.
