Chapter 408: The Stupid Lycan 17

"I apologize but I don’t know."

Ava frowned.

"Gabriella tried to inquire about your mother but your father never said anything."

"So... my father is he a witch?"

"A Warlock."

"A Warlock?" Ava lifted an eyebrow. A powerful man who practiced witchcraft.

"That’s all I know. He is a warlock who saved Gabriella in the past. A powerful one at that. However— "

"However?"

Samuel hesitated for a few seconds. "I believe you already knew about the existence of multiple universes and realms, right?"

"Right."

"There are well-known realms like the demonic realm, shadow realm, spirit realm, and the celestial realm."

"Yes. I have heard of that."

"Gabriella and I believed that he might not be of this world."

"He is not from this realm?" She recalled the last time she saw him in that underground prison. He was very calm, despite being in chains. It was as if staying there didn’t give him any discomfort at all. But he left, right?

She couldn’t help but wonder about his location now. And why would he refuse to see her or even talk to her? A little explanation would have been nicer.

"Listen Ava..." Samuel said. "There is a reason why your father didn’t want you to learn magick. He didn’t want you to learn about the supernatural world overall. And that is because he was hiding you from someone— something. He may be out of this realm but he cared for you. He didn’t want them to find you." ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

"And that’s supposed to make me feel better," Ava said. Not knowing her enemies would never make her feel better. She might not be someone that loves to plan but knowing who wanted her dead is going to keep her asleep at night!

"Do you have anything else to tell me? What about Phil? What is he?"

"Phil is collateral damage. We didn’t intend to have them take him but we weren’t able to do anything. We have to avoid suspicions so... we gave them Phil." Samuel had a sad look on his face. And honestly? This only pissed her off.

Collateral damage?

A kid as collateral damage?

And they did it all to protect her.

She gritted her teeth. She used to believe that she was a very pragmatic person. She knew that they did it because of her but a part of her still couldn’t accept the fact that she was the reason why Gabriella and Samuel chose to ruin her brother’s life.

"Gabriella knew she made a mistake. So... she told Phil everything."

"What did you say?"

"Gabriella told Phil about it. I mean not about you. She would never do something that would betray your father. However, she told him about the experiments.

"When?"

"What?"

"When did she tell him the truth?"

"Right after he came back from the military."

"So Phil knew about everything even before Gabriella died?"

"Yes."

She pursed her lips in response. A part of her had been bugging her about Phil’s actions in the past but she chose to ignore it. After all, he was her brother. But now...

"And why would I believe you?" she asked him.

"You don’t have to. I am not going to burden you with another lie. This is the truth that I know. Gabriella was only protecting you. I know you do not like how she did it but at that time, it was the only."

"And why are you helping Gabriella?" Ava asked.

"She— You might not believe this but— " he smiled. "Gabriella was the wife of my brother."

"The man who— "

"The man who abused her. I am the same man who introduced her to my brother knowing how missed up he was even back then. I owe Gabriella a life away from him. A happy life after everything that she had been through."

Ava was speechless. He didn’t know anything about Gabriella’s ex-husband. All she knew was the fact that he financially and physically abused her. Gabriella always said that she wanted to help women because of her past experiences. But she never really told her the details of her marriage. Of course, Ava didn’t ask her anything as she knew recalling a past abuse can be very traumatizing.

"I have to go now..."

Samuel nodded without saying anything. Ava left the cafe and walked for a few seconds. After making sure that there were no cameras or no one was around her, she teleported.

The next time she appeared, she was already inside Baba’s secret base.

"You are here?" Baba asked. She was standing near Ava, waiting for the person that would show up. This was a part of her security measures. The moment someone teleported on that first point, she would immediately sense that they are coming her way. So, she would come out to welcome them. Or even kill them, if they were enemies.

Ava nodded. She immediately notice that Baba was actually looking at the vacant space next to her. "Where is he?" Baba asked.

"He has something to attend to." Since that fight with those creatures, Matthew had been acting weird, to say the least. It was as if he discovered something horrible. However, he didn’t tell her anything. He only told her that he is leaving for a few days to tie up some loose ends.

Baba nodded. "How have you been?" She then led Ava inside her study.

"I am good. How’s Phil?" she asked.

"Well, the Shaman had been doing some research and I think we found something that could help him. A couple of days ago, we gave him some potions and he had been sleeping a lot since." Baba led her to where Phil was staying.

"What was noteworthy is the fact that— "

Ava gasped when she saw Phil. "The hairs... disappeared?"

"Yes. We were able to make the hair disappear. However, he still couldn’t comprehend human language and couldn’t communicate. As you know, this is the work of science. So it is taking a bit more time for us to find the cure."

"There is a cure," Ava said."And that’s what is important." However, before she could ask Baba to take her to see Baby Gabi, a shadow appeared behind her.

Baba immediately took a step back and magick sparked in her fingers.

"Mistress..." the shadow’s voice echoed inside Ava’s head. "You must come... I believe master is in danger."
