"What?" Ava frowned. "How did he end up missing? I thought he was in that plane?"
"We lost contact with him a couple of minutes ago." The shadow answered inside her head.
"And that doesn’t happen?" she asked.
"Never."
Ava frowned. She looked at Baba. "Something is wrong."
"What— What happened? And what is that?"
"I don’t know."
**BANG**
"I have sensed someone... or something" The Shaman deadpanned when he saw the shadow. "That— thing— where is Matthew?" he asked Ava.
"The Shadow just told me that he is missing."
"It lost connection to its master?"
Ava furrowed her brows. It looked like the Shaman know something about this shadow. "Yes," she answered.
"What happened?" the Shaman asked Ava.
"It said— can’t you ask him?"
"It would only communicate to whoever it was guarding."
"And that’s me," Ava said.
"Yes. Meaning, only you can hear its voice."
Ava nodded.
"Tell me the last time that you felt his presence."
"It vanished right after he went inside the plane."
"The Lycan plane?"
"Yes."
"And it immediately vanished right after he went in?" freewebnøvel.coɱ
"Yes."
"Then... we should go find him."
"No." This time, the Shaman approached the shadow. He examined it. "No. We are not going to follow him inside."
"Why?"
"He must have fallen into a trap. What would happen if those people are in there waiting for us? We cannot have them capture us after they captured him."
"I refuse to think that they could capture Matthew," Ava said. "He is strong."
"But he has a fatal weakness."
"A weakness?" Ava looked at the Shaman. "What weakness?"
"You should sit down. I need to tell you something."
...
"There is this belief that everything is birth by chaos. A large explosion that created powerful gods. And these gods created more gods until one of them created their own version of the world." The Shaman started. "Again, this is nothing that we, humans can confirm because we have no proof aside from the existence of other realms and planes and powerful celestials whose abilities were far more powerful than anyone." She then looked at Babaylan.
"Do not say another word out of your mouth Babaylan," he warned
"I know." In response, Baba started serving both the Shaman and Ava tea. The shadow on the other hand disappeared into Ava’s shadow, surprising her. She immediately tried to use her magick and just as she expected, she couldn’t sense anything in her shadow.
"Let me continue. The chaos birth gods like ... the Gods of Underworld, Earth, Love and Attraction, Darkness and Shadow and Nyx, the goddess of the night, and many other gods that belonged to the other realms."
Ava frowned. Why was he talking about Gods?
"I believe that Matthew might be a remnant of those Gods."
"A remnant?" Ava asked.
"No. That would be wrong. Calling him a remnant would mean that he doesn’t know who he is. A remnant of a god is not really a god. It is just a normal creature usually blessed with the luck of a God." Baba said. She looked at Ava. "I have read about this from the library. Humans are created using the image of a god. Each of us has remnants of a God as we were created to look like them."
Ava nodded. Right. She heard something about that from one of her Christian friends in the past. Sadly, those people cut her off when they couldn’t convince her to go to their church and convert to their religion.
"I always thought he might be a demon... hold on... does he have the remnant of a demon god?"
"No. He is not a demon. There is no way that a demon would be able to walk in our realm as if... he owned it. If demons get inside our realm, their abilities would be limited. Their control would be weak, prompting them to succumb to their desire. Demons live off desire. Be it sex or murder or gluttony. Demons are known for that. Matthew on the other hand does not have the quality of any demon."
Ava nodded. So, he isn’t a demon. Then what is he?
"But a demon God would have stronger control," Baba said.
"Why do you insist that he is a demon?" the Shaman asked.
"Well... my mother..."
"Your mother knows nothing! That relic might have belonged to a demon but the one who used it wasn’t one. Matthew is not a demon."
"You seemed so sure about it," Ava said.
"That’s because I asked him if he was one."
Ava blinked. Well, at least the Shaman dared to ask him. Ava on the other hand had been having doubts but refused to ask him anything as she was too scared to know the truth. She knew it sounded absurd but that is the truth.
"I believe he is one of the Gods from another realm," the shaman said. "That is the only reason why he was able to come here with that power is that he is a God. He is slowly traveling into dimensions to collect the rest of the remnants of himself."
"But again, these are mere conjectures. I have collected some information about the first few gods that I encountered during my travels. Matthew was using most of the abilities that they can use. But this shadow... is different. Not many gods have their own armies of shadows.
"So.... "
"The God of Darkness and Shadow. Erebus. I think that is Matthew."
"And the weakness?" Ava was more interested in Matthew’s weakness simply because he didn’t want other people to hurt him. If she knew about his weakness then maybe she could prevent anyone from using it.
"It’s the light."
"Light..."
"Some argue that darkness is just the absence of the light and that is partly right. But one thing is for sure... the weakness of the darkness is... the light."
Ava frowned. She recalled Priestess Anna used some weird light when she fought against Matthew too.
"I am wondering about something..." she said.
"What is it..."
"How does someone kill a God?" she asked.
