Chapter 417: Killing a God 9

The man in the robe started to chuckle before he ended up laughing so hard that his shoulders started to shake. Then he shook his head. Ava expected him to say a word, something, anything.

But the man didn’t.

Instead, he used the liquid and injected it into one of the tubes that were connected to Ulva’s brain.

"You are silly," the man said. "Everything is in order. There is no way that whoever it is that you want to save you would successfully come to your aid."

"Silly?" Ulva lifted an eyebrow. Despite all this, she had a calm expression on her face. "I wonder about that too..." she said, her eyes on the ceiling.

Ava couldn’t help but frown. If that liquid was supposed to be the witch’s weakness then... how did the man hold it? The man was a witch and Ava could clearly feel it too! Why isn’t it affecting him?

After a few seconds, all of the liquid was successfully inserted into the tube.

"This will be the last one. Once successful, we will start processing your body. I cannot wait to cut you up." The man cackled as if he was saying something so lighthearted. "Oh.... I think your magick would be enough for our plan."

"Plan?" Ulva lifted an eyebrow. "I would rather die than help you create a portal."

Portal?

Ava’s heart thundered against her chest. What portal?

"Ah... it would have been lovely if we could find a dream walker to help us out but... your magick should be enough. Soon, we will have two other powerful witches..." the man said.

"What do you mean?"

"I would rather die before I tell you anything," the man said, sarcasm apparent in his voice. Then he scoffed and took a few steps away from Ulva.

Ulva was about to say something when her body started trembling, her eyes turned white and bubbles started appearing in her mouth.

"You— " the man clicked his tongue. "You bitch!" the man said as he hurried towards the machine where the tube was connected to and pressed something. It was like a switch button and it seemed to work as Ulva immediately stopped moving.

"Someone come!" the man said. Almost immediately, men and women wearing white protective coats walk inside. The fact that they looked like astronauts was another surprise to Ava. Then she quickly realized something...

All of them were witches!

Why were they wearing protective lab coats and complete gear?

Was it because of the liquid?

Is it really true that it could harm witches?

If it is then....what about the man wearing the robe?

"Save her..." the robed man said. "That damn woman tricked me! She poisoned herself using some ancient forbidden magick. Bring her back." The man said. Then he left the room.

For a few seconds, Ava was tempted to stay there and watch Ulva. She was curious about that spell as she didn’t actually feel that something was wrong. But right now, she was more curious about that man.

So she promptly followed him out and into what looked like an office that had glass walls that displayed a lot of laboratories. And when she says laboratories, she meant people inside a rectangular box full of the same liquid. All of them have tubes connected to their bodies as they stay inside the box.

On the monitor, Ava could see their vitals which showed they were alive.

Soon, she realized that they didn’t just keep adults in those boxes but also kids, teenagers, and even toddlers. There is even someone that...

Ava’s eyes widened when she spotted a small baby. Her eyes landed on the baby’s name and were surprised to see that it only had the last name. Jones.

She bit her lower lip as she recalled Broody, her ex-boyfriend’s, missing wife who was pregnant. Was she overthinking things?

Was it really just a coincidence?

She looked at the other names and was horrified to see Amelia on one of the boxes! Broody’s wife and child are here! She thought inwardly. Her heartbeat had accelerated so much, it was the only thing she could hear.

Sadly, she couldn’t do anything now as she was using her astral body, her magick is limited.

"How is it?" the man spoke. Ava realized that he was talking to someone who was hiding in the dark. The thing is, she didn’t even feel that person’s presence.

"I failed..."

Ava’s eyes widened. This was the woman who was sent to take her!

"I can see that."

"You don’t understand..." the woman said. "She was not there."

"I didn’t sense her leaving this plane."

"I know but she wasn’t there. When I tried to sense her, I couldn’t It was as if her presence just vanished into thin air."

The man sighed. "I am disappointed."

**THUD**

"Please give me another chance," the woman said. "I fought with someone powerful and was able to use the devil’s dagger. He was a powerful witch, more powerful than anyone I have ever met but he was dying. I didn’t hesitate to use the dagger on him."

"Dying?" the man scoffed. "The Shaman is dying?"

"Yes, sir. That is the only reason why the dagger worked on him."

"No. The only reason why a devil’s dagger would work on him is if he had a fragment of a celestial inside his body. A witch with a fragment of a celestial, eh?" the man chuckled. "It’s funny how I didn’t even sense a dream walker inside this plane."

"A dream walker?"

"All of them had fragments of celestials. However, the ones that we cannot sense are... dream walkers. Very... very special creatures."

"Then... shall I capture him instead?"

"No..." the man said. "There is no use for that..."

While Ava couldn’t see the man’s face before the robe, she could feel that he was smiling, beaming at the woman.

"The devil’s dagger should kill him soon. We don’t need to do anything. All we need to do is... wait. Wait for him to reach his weakest point then we take him."

"We?" the woman had a look of surprise on her face.

"Of course... did you really think that you would be able to fight against him again?"
