"What is happening here!?"Drigo raised his voice when his very own knights suddenly started fighting the other knights. Lycans against Lycans. Witches against witches and Lycans against witches.
It was pure chaos.
Soon, the smell of blood filled the area. Blood had dried the pathway to his palace.
"Your highness... we need to leave," Erenes uttered. "Now."
"I— "
"I told you this would happen Drigo." It was the previous Queen Margery’s voice. She walked towards her own son. Surrounded by chaos, Margery looked like the queen of chaos herself walking towards her enemies. She smiled at Drigo. "Now you finally got what you wanted. The witches wanted to revolt and when the Lycans accuse them of targetting them, chaos immediately started. You should have known better my son."
"What have you done?" Drigo asked. He could no longer remember the reason why the fight started. All he recalled was the fact that the witches started throwing their magick and the Lycans immediately retaliated. The witches whose loyalty was still with the Lycans also joined the fight and now, there were more than twenty people fighting in front of him. Luckily, Erenes was with him protecting him from everyone else.
"Nothing...." Margery shrugged, a beautiful smile on her face. "This was something that you already know. I warned you long before you even raised your concern. Free people are chaotic people. They would want more and more and demand that you give them more. Now... as sad as it is... I would like to say I told you so."
The lines in between Drigo’s face turned even deeper when he saw his wife, the current Queen joined the fight.
"Please send the Queen to her palace. Everyone who would do anything against the law... take them... "
"As expected," Margery said. "You are still as weak as ever. You need your mother to rule this place."
Drigo narrowed his eyes. He always knew that his mother wanted more power but to actually say that he was incapable of ruling because of his proposition? That’s absurd.
Margery smiled at him. Then he raised his hand and gestured something. Almost immediately, a large number of people started approaching the King’s palace. Many of them were following the noble head of their families.
Surprise registered on his face when he saw his allies with them.
He thought he was able to convince some of the noble families. At the end of the day, his mother still won. She was able to convince everyone to revolt just because of what he wanted to do! How could his own mother do this?
Betrayed, he looked at Margery. As much as he wanted to make her understand that this is what he needed to do to be able to rule this plane, he couldn’t. He frowned. He knew that his mother would regret this but—
"The King is ill!" Margery said. "Please take him to his own chambers! The new Queen will take over the duties! All hail Queen— "
"Actually.... That’s wrong." A loud voice interrupted them. Everyone turned towards the man walking behind Drigo. "The King is ill..." The man who was walking towards them was none other than Matthew. He was calmly approaching them, a smile appeared on his face. "Therefore... I, Matthew Graydon will be replacing him."
"What?"
"What is he— "
"Your highness Matthew... "
"How is he here!?"
Murmurs and whispers filled the place. For a moment, it drowned Margery’s thoughts. But she quickly recovered. "How dare you try to usurp the throne!?" Margery said. "Knights!"
"Oh shut your trap!" Matthew said. Then he sent out his aura to everyone nearby. Almost immediately a suffocating presence wrapped around them. Their breathing turned shallow as the intimidating aura hit them like a large boulder. They struggled to breathe.
Surprisingly, the aura didn’t just affect the weaker Lycans and witches but even the stronger ones like Drigo and the head of the noble families felt it. Some of the weaker Lycans fell on their knees, some paled their faces lost all their colors, while some felt like every bone of their bodies had been crushed to small little pieces.
Even the Queen felt like her body was about to fall to the ground to worship Matthew.
"So....’ Matthew stood next to Drigo. "You were saying?" he looked at Margery. "I am willing to hear you now."
"I— cough— cough— " Margery tried to say something but no words would come out of her mouth. She paled, her face started looking like a white sheet of paper.
"How about you... brother?" Matthew looked at Drigo. "Are you going to give me your throne?"
"Y— Yes." Drigo nodded. Beads of sweat can be seen on his forehead."Yes. I am."
"Great!" Matthew beamed. He looked at the Queen then toward the people who were still struggling to breathe. "Any objections?" After Matthew said this, the pressure doubled. The people who were already kneeling on the ground fainted while the head of the nobles fell. Someone even started trembling on the ground. "No objections!?"
Matthew smirked when the current Queen fell to the ground. Someone tried to assist her but that Lycan also succumbed to the bone-crushing pressure from Matthew.
"Wonderful!" Matthew beamed. Almost instantaneously the pressure disappeared. Relief flashed in everyone’s eyes. Even the previous Queen Margery felt like a large block of rock had been lifted off her shoulders.
"I don’t want anything extravagant. I want the ceremony with the nobles. This will happen in two days." Matthew dragged his eyes toward each and every head of the nobles including the patriarch of the de Cene family. "All of you... shall be there. Not being there means you aren’t going to accept my authority and in my book... that means death."
"D— death!?" Margery frowned. "What are— "
"Arrest the previous Queen." Matthew interrupted her. He looked at the knights that used to belong to Drigo. These knights had been serving the King for generations. They were trained to only listen to the King’s orders.
"Take her to the dungeons," Matthew added. "If she refuses... kill her." Matthew smiled, a sinister glint appeared in his eyes. "Now.... " He roamed his eyes towards the Lycans and witches who were fighting earlier. "Do you have anything that you want to ask?"
