Chapter 426: The New King 2

To everyone’s surprise, the knight didn’t hesitate to arrest Margery.

"Matthew— " Drigo tried to remind Matthew that Margery is the previous Queen. How could he just arrest the previous Queen?"

"The Previous Queen instigated a revolt, a civil war, a coup de tat!" Matthew said. "She shall be tried in front of everyone and will be fairly judged. Any questions!?"

This time, no one raised any questions or said anything. Everyone had various expressions on their faces but most of them were just trying to recover from what felt like a storm that hit them just now. The pressure that Matthew showed was unheard of. Most of them were confused as every one of them was Lycans. Perhaps, Matthew’s aura would have obvious effects on other supernaturals like werewolves but on fellow Lycans? It shouldn’t affect them as much as the other’s shifters.

In fact, none of them felt the same pressure from the previous kings before.

"Are you letting him arrest me?" Margery’s squeals echoed, interrupting the quietness that followed Matthew’s questions. However, none of them even dared to look at her. In front of the strong, they felt powerless.

"Ah... the witches who caused chaos just now..." Matthew smiled at the blue-haired witch. "Execute them."

"What?"

Before anyone could react, Matthew suddenly made a move toward the blue-haired witch. In a second, he arrived in front of the witch and used his hand to slit the woman’s throat. Before the woman’s body could hit the ground, Matthew used his hand to grab the woman’s heart and then crushed it in front of everyone. With a smile, he looked at the rest of the witches.

"Do you want to say something?" With a smiling face, Matthew looked like he was asking a normal question. But to everyone else, he looked like death himself. He didn’t just use that intimidating pressure on them, he actually dared to kill one of the witches! Clearly, he was showing them his strength! He was showing them how strong he was!

"No.... Your majesty."

"Wonderful... now... you may leave. Everyone may leave." Matthew said. Almost immediately, the rest of the Lycans and witches left. They didn’t want to stay any longer.

Matthew look at his brother for a few minutes before he shook his head. "Follow me..." he said. The two of them then went to Drigo’s study who looked like a war has descended inside it.

"What— "

"Where is she?" Matthew asked when he saw the Shaman. The only reason why the Shaman would come here is because of Ava.

"She’s trapped." The Shaman answered. Right now, he already looked calm. The bodies earlier were no longer there. Even the blood from the fight earlier was nowhere to be seen. "She used astral projection and— "

"How long!?" Matthew asked.

"For an hour now."

"That’s dangerous," Matthew muttered. He approached Ava’s body, his expression turned uglier. "She’s inside a magick circle."

"I know. I have been doing my best to get a location."

"It’s somewhere east."

Without saying a word, Matthew touched Ava’s forehead. Then his eyes lingered at the ring— the arsunite— that he gifted her. Luckily, it had protected her body.

"Whoever created the magick circle is not from this realm. This magick circle should be from the Shadow realm." Matthew explained. The Shaman nodded in response.

"I will guard— "

"Haaapph!" Ava gasped as she suddenly jolted up. Her eyes flew open. For a few seconds, she tried to catch her breath. Before Matthew pulled her into his arms. He held her against him as his hand slowly stroked her hair. His warmth almost immediately calmed her down. Ava wrapped her arm around Matthew as she stabilized her racing heartbeat. For a moment, she wished she could just stay in his arms for as long as she wanted to. But she knew that there were more things that they needed to do, things that they needed to focus on.

...................

"You what?"Ava’s eyes almost fell out of its socket when she heard what Matthew just told her. "You— you proclaimed yourself a king?"

"Don’t you want to?" Matthew asked.

"No it’s just that... it was too sudden."Also, what about her? She frowned. Drigo and the Shaman left the study to give them the space that they needed. However, before she could ask him where he went, he told her that he just became the King of this plane.

"I had no choice. The Queen— The previous Queen Margery is getting on my nerves. And someone else was behind her absurd actions. That someone might be the same entity who set up a large magick circle a long time ago. They used thousands of witches as the fuel to their magick and just activated it lately. I didn’t notice it when I was here." Matthew was looking outside, his expression grim. He had a lot of things to think about, he didn’t even think that someone would suddenly activate a thousand-year-old magick circle. When he came back, he immediately felt the circle but Ava’s father summoned him somewhere.

Speaking of Ava’s father.... Matthew didn’t even want to think about that man. Even without the information about Ava’s parents, he already vowed to protect her. And that man knew that. He knew that even before he approached Matthew.

"So... you decided to take the throne from Drigo?" Ava asked, she looked confused. They have already talked about this matter and Matthew clearly told her that he didn’t want the throne. He didn’t want to become the King. So... this was totally out of Matthew’s character.

"I want to make this plane our safe place. I can’t let them tarnish it. The Queen is working with occupants of the other realms. And for some reason, they wanted this plane." Perhaps it was because the guardian had no authority over smaller planes like this. Those people wanted to experiment and evolve. They wanted to become more and more powerful. Naturally, they wanted to do it in a plane like this.

"I know," Ava said. "I saw it."

Matthew looked at Ava. "What did you see?" he asked.
