"You look like you haven’t had any sleep for a week," this was what the Shaman said when he saw her walk inside the office where he was staying. The Shaman had been staying in the facility studying the things that those robed men had left. After seeing Ava’s appearance, he stopped reading the documents in his hand and leaned back, observing his apprentice.
"Matthew wanted me to become the Queen." Ava sat opposite the Shaman.
"And?"
"Do you think I could become one?" she asked. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"Does it matter?"
"What?"
"Do you think my opinion matters?" the Shaman said. "This is between you and your mate."
"Matthew needed to stabilize his rule," Ava said. "This plane needed to recover."
"From what?"
Ava said nothing. Instead, she rested look at the ceiling. The Shaman was right. She hadn’t had an iota of sleep last night as she thought about Matthew’s proposition.
"Aren’t you going to marry him?" he asked.
"I am."
"But you didn’t want to stand by his side now that he wanted to have this plane?"
"Uhhh... it’s not like that."
"Then what is it?"
"I just thought... people might not accept it."
"And... that matters how?"
"It would cause more problems for him."
"Again... that matters how?"
"Matthew won’t be able to— "
"To what?"
"I— "
"I never thought my apprentice would one day fear other people’s opinions. And treat it as if they matter," the Shaman chuckled.
"I— "
"Are you marrying other people? Or... Matthew?" he asked.
"Matthew..."
’Then why care about other people?"
Ava frowned. She actually hoped it would be that easy. But it wasn’t.
"What are you working on?’’ she changed the topic.
"Ah... this is the DNA of the creature that we found. They do not belong in this world. Surprisingly, they managed to use a human’s DNA in its body."
"They added a human’s DNA into that creature?"
"Not just any human. They were able to add a shifter’s DNA and a Witch’s DNA. Without it, these creatures won’t be able to survive in this plane as it had a different environment than their realm."
"Really?" That is indeed interesting. Not long after, Ava decided to visit Baba who was dissecting some creatures that they found inside the facility. She decided to make herself busy for now. However, a part of her already made a decision.
"We weren’t sure where they actually came from but we believe they are from different realms and were surgically combined to try and create a stronger vessel," Baba said. "Unfortunately, we weren’t able to dig deeper into this matter as most of the paperwork was lost and some were destroyed by the portal."
"The portal?"
"Yes, the one that they used to move out of this place. They used about fifteen witches just to become the fuel of the portal. When they used the portal, the witches immediately died, drained of their powers.
"That’s messed up," Ava said. And sinister. Truly sinister. How could they treat the witches’ life as if they were mere animals that they could slaughter anytime!?
"It is more than messed up.

"They let us go," Patriarch de Cene had a dark look on his face as he sat in his study. In front of him were two other people both of them are considered elders in the de Cene family. "Now that noble families are avoiding us." Actually, what Matthew did was worse than arresting him and making him look like the victim of Matthew’s anger.
Matthew let them go. Then he just ignored them.
What was he trying to do? After declaring himself the new king, he raided the facility then instead of detaining him, he let the de Cene family go. Now, he couldn’t help but overthink things. He hadn’t had any sleep since it happens. He spent his nights wondering what Matthew will do next time. What was his plan? What about his family? Does he know something? If he does then... why let him go? He had been wracking his brain on what to do next but couldn’t come up with anything.
Idwal and the rest fled, leaving him to fend for himself. Even the previous Queen had been arrested. This meant he was literally alone.
"The new King just sent an invitation to everyone. There will be a celebration in the palace. All the noble families are required to join the event." One of his subordinates said. "Should we just— "
"No," the patriarch said. "He is intentionally doing this to try and isolate us. The other families are already avoiding us because of what he did. What would happen to our children in the new future!? We cannot let him continue to act like this!" If this happens, no one in the noble family would let their family marry into the de Cene family.
That cannot happen.
"But we need to teach him a lesson," the de Cene patriarch narrowed his eyes. His eyes landed on the drawer where he kept the dagger that was gifted by Idwal. That dangerous blade was safely hidden away from everyone’s eyes because of how dangerous it is not just to the victim but also to the user.
"Find someone disposable..." he said. He needed to teach Matthew a lesson and he is going to teach him before this event!
They weren’t able to do anything about the coronation. This time, they are going to make sure to put the man in this place.

After a few hours inside the facility, Ava started walking towards the large garden. She had thought it through and realized how silly she actually was. Why would she even think about what other people thought of her and Matthew?
So what if she’s a witch?
So what if Matthew was a Lycan!?
And so what if they are mates?
Why was she so concerned about other people’s opinions!?
She was indeed very silly. She wanted to find Matthew to apologize. She needed to tell him how sorry she was to even doubt everything. At the end of the day, she wanted to be with Matthew. Other people would never matter.
"But just as she was about to reach the palace, a sharp dagger suddenly pierced her chest. Ava wasn’t able to react on time. Before she knew it, her body was already on the ground. Then her consciousness left her.
