BRAZIL
"Why would they send a letter like this!?" the Priestess of Blood Oasis had a dark look on her face. "The Lycans must have wanted to insult us!"
"Priestess calm down," the Priestess’s Sol Zodiphyte and assistant, Carmela handed a cup of newly brewed tea to the woman in red. "We do not know their intentions yet. I believe we should talk to other covens about it."
"This is an insult! We lost a lot of sisters because of a lycan! How could they even have the audacity to invite us!?"
Carmela turned silent.
"They must have wanted a war! They wanted to tip the balance and make us react to their news and once we do something about it, they are going to declare war on the witches!" The Priestess added.
"The New King must have wanted to enslave more witches!" Not many witches knew that the Lycans had been enslaving witches for centuries. Only the Priestesses and important leaders knew of this simply because they didn’t want to create more trouble for the shifters.
The older witches didn’t want to create a hostile environment against the shifters.
This isn’t cowardice.
This is something that they chose to do to make the younger witches safer from humans. After all, an all-out war would eventually attract the attention of the unsuspecting human population.
But this?
This is too much!
"We need to go to their plane!" The Priestess said. "That witch must be killed!’
"But Priestess, what if the Lycans were just waiting for us to react and do something like that? What if they just wanted to antagonize us so they would have a reason to declare war against the witches!?" Carmela reasoned. Almost immediately, the Priestess’s face morphed into an ugly scowl.
She knew that her Sol Zodiphyte had a point. Killing the next Queen of the Lycan is going to cause some trouble. But how could they allow something like this to happen?
They even declared that Ava Woods was the Lycan King’s mate!? How is that even possible!?
"I believe we should first observe. We shouldn’t do anything careless. The Lycans are cruel and strong. We don’t know if this is just a trap that they set so they could have a reason to kill the witches."
The Priestess nodded at Carmela’s words. She had been too hasty, she thought inwardly.
Her Sol Zodiphyte was right. Before going to the plane of the Lycans, they needed to observe and gather more information about this letter!
...
LYCAN’S PLANE
Jude, Francheska, and Samuel had a different reactions on their faces.
Jude was clearly angry about the matter. A mate!? How could they just say that Ava and Matthew were mates? Even if they love each other, they couldn’t just lie like that!
Meanwhile, Francheska had a curious gaze toward Ava and Matthew. As someone who had read a lot of books, one of her favorite troops in romance was called; forbidden love. A witch and a Lycan were definitely a part of that troop.
Even though Matthew is her brother and Ava is one of her favorite people in this world, she couldn’t help but start thinking about the secrets that they held.
A Lycan and A witch are definitely a unique and powerful pair. She wanted to know how it came to be! Right now, Francheska looked like a curious doctor who wanted to cut some people up just to know what was wrong with their bodies.
Meanwhile, Samuel looked confused. He was staring at Ava and Matthew since they arrived on this plane, not a word left his mouth. He looked like he was about to ask questions but couldn’t.
Seeing the three people almost made Ava laugh.
"How?" Jude asked. Because his father died, he and Francheska spent some time away from the couple. Then this happened. "How did you become mates?" he asked.
"I don’t know."
"How did you know you are mates?" Francheska asked.
"I— "
"It just happened," Matthew answered. "You will know once you found yours... "
"Really?" Francheska had an expectant look on her face. Obviously, Matthew’s words and Francheska’s reaction made Jude frown.
"Really."
"So... mates... how does it work? Can you hear each other’s thoughts? Can you feel each other’s feelings? Tell me." Francheska said, ignoring the sharp gaze from Jude. "Do you have each other’s power? Maybe you got each other’s abilities? The reason why— I mean— Do you think this is the reason why Matthew was stronger than the rest of the Lycans!?"
However, before they could answer, Samuel said. "You do know that this might create more trouble for you, right?" he said.
"We know," Matthew answered.
"And yet, you still sent out letters and even invite them to your wedding?"
"We also invited them to come here if they wanted an explanation."
"Many of them would think this is a trap."
"I can see that," Matthew said.
"And do you think that would be a good thing?"
"Yes."
Silence filled the room for a few seconds.
"You are creating more trouble. This is going to change the current status quo outside of this plane." Samuel continued. He is the only human in this room and the oldest too. He had a lot of experiences inside and outside of Trillium. Moreover, he cared about Ava and Gabriella.
"The witches are going to punish Ava," Samuel said. "They might want to bring her out of this plane."
"So, they are going to stop my wedding."
"That is why they are going to think of this as a trap. If they stop your wedding then you will have a reason to declare war against them. Many of them will be confused and might prepare for an all-out war."
"I didn’t ask them to come here because I want them to raise their concerns about Ava and I," Matthew shrugged.
"Then?"
"I am going to reveal something to them."
"Something?"
Matthew smirked. "Something more... interesting."
"What?"
"A common enemy."
"Then what about the wedding?"
This time, it was Ava who answered.
"We will elope," Ava said.
"What?" the three other people voice out at the same time.
"We will marry in a small town. And we want to invite the three of you... as our witnesses together with Baba and the Shaman." Ava smiled at everyone.
