Chapter 444: The King and Queen of Lycans 4

"With all due respect, I think it is better If we talk to the new King." The Patriarch of the de Wylmot family said. "I know you are the current Queen but this concerns the welfare of the future Lycans."

"His Majesty wanted me to address whatever it is that you want. He specifically told me to join this meeting in his stead," Ava smiled at everyone as she made herself comfortable. They are currently sitting at a long rectangular table and Ava was sitting on the head of it. On a normal day, this might be enough to upset any of the Lycans inside.

But this isn’t just a normal day.

Ava rested her chin on the back of her palm as she smiled at everyone. She already knew that not many people would want her to become King but because Matthew already showed them his strength many of them would be reluctant to say a word.

"Let’s give the Queen the benefit of the doubt. We have already accepted her as our queen." The patriarch of the De Qin family from China spoke. The old man with long white hair was pretty well known for being Matthew’s supporter so no one was surprised when they heard him speak. "His majesty wanted changes and I don’t see anything bad with those things."

"Old man, we are just concerned about the future of the Lycans in the supernatural world." The patriarch of the de Alferez family said. "We are not trying to doubt the new Queen. However, many of us believe that this issue should be addressed to the King himself."

"His Majesty had some things to attend to," Ava said. She eyed Drigo who was silently standing next to her. Matthew asked his older brother to accompany Ava today. "That’s the reason why Advisor Drigo Graydon is with me instead. " That’s right, Matthew declared Drigo as the new advisor.

It wasn’t really a surprise to everyone as Drigo was hardworking and had been trained to rule this plane for years. What surprised them was the fact that once again, Drigo agreed without any fuss.

"Alright, since Her Majesty wanted to hear our concerns then I would like to start." Patriarch de Alferez said. "What is going to happen to the witches who abandoned their masters? Are they going to receive some sort of punishment for what they did?"

"Patriarch, His Majesty already gave the witches freedom to leave the plane and their masters. However, there are some processes that they needed to do to be able to leave." Ava said. "A witch cannot just leave their master— or their family’s masters just because they want to. The Advisor will soon give a handbook that would contain all the new processes that they needed to do."

Since Matthew just declared it without proper documentation, Drigo had to come up with something almost immediately for it to be legalized immediately. After all, there were still processes required to create a law. And since the changes that Matthew created aren’t considered small changes, they needed to create a lot of documentation as well.

The meeting started off with the nobles asking about the witches and soon, they started asking about Matthew and Ava’s plans. Now that the witches were given a choice to sever their ties, what would happen to them? Can they just completely cut contact and move to the realm of humans? Isn’t that something that would affect them in the long run?

The witches were maids and servants. Undeniably, their magick made the Lycans’ lives more convenient. Without this magick, the Lycans would find it hard to do a lot of stuff. For instance, teleportation or tracking magick.

In the long run, the Lycans would suffer.

"The Lycans are considered the strongest shifter. However, you are making the witches fight your battles. You have become too reliant on magick." Ava said. It was entertaining how these people look down on witches yet they use many types of magick. Especially in this plane.

For instance, there is no electricity in this plane so they use magick to create electricity and enjoy the light and many other things. They also use their servant’s magick to create teleportation portals and many others.

Actually, Ava knew that many witches would still choose to stay with their masters. Despite all the changes that have been made, many witches were actually very loyal to their masters as their families had been serving the Lycans for years. Plus, there are now proper compensation and benefits for the witches. Once they realized that the witches outside of the realm cannot freely do their magick and are actually scared to do it because of the humans and other shifters they would surely change their minds and stay.

All Ava and Matthew wanted is to give these witches an equal chance to do what they want. Freedom.

Of course, other things needed to change. For instance, taxes. Once the witch decides to stay on this plane and earn money through various ways, they are now liable to pay taxes.

It was just like a normal government. And Ava was just a little excited when she read about the changes that Matthew wanted to be done. She knew she wasn’t Queen Material but something about building a new nation excites her.

The meeting concluded and everyone walked out of the meeting room with a little more clarity and understanding about the things that Matthew wanted. But this didn’t mean that the problem has been solved. Matthew literally changed everything. From the punishments to the taxes and even the access of each family to the plane.

Right now, each family has a house inside the plane and properties in the human realm. Many of them are living a very good life on Earth and even own businesses. Each of them has their very own access to the plane. But... Matthew wanted to change that.

While it might sound like a small change, the old foxes inside the room immediately understood something.

Matthew wanted more control and authority. While that might be normal for some Kings, the Lycan community was already used to the previous King’s lack of involvement in their lives.

But in the end, many of them actually agreed to all of Matthew’s requests.
