For the first time since they came here, Aliah didn’t receive an answer from her son.
"Nero?" she said. "Do not— I told you to stop trying to prank me!"
Prank — a new term that she just learned because her dutiful son would always use it on her. For some reason, Nero found it entertaining to watch her get upset over something that he just made up for the sake of annoying her.
He would laugh and laugh and laugh until she used her magick to silence him!
"This isn’t funny, Nero!" she hissed, extremely irritated at her very own son. "Where are you!?" she asked.
"Nero, answer me!"
"Nero!? This isn’t funny!"
"If I see you— "
"You better not come!"
"You know what? I am tired! You better not see me again!"
Her unsightly expression turned even uglier as she finished her wine and poured herself another glass. Nero had been spending too much time on Earth instead of staying here! He had been enjoying everything too much!
The gadgets that this world has to offer and even the way of living in some of the cities that he liked to frequent. Women, gambling, and alcohol had plagued her son’s systems. And she quite not like that!
"Someone!" she called out.
"Madame?" a man wearing a white lab coat immediately went inside her office.
"Nero had one of those... phones, right?"
"Yes, madame."
"Then track it."
The man immediately brought a laptop and started tracking Nero.
"Madame this— "
"What?" she asked. "Where is he now? Don’t tell me he’s in Vegas or in Seoul? Was it Tokyo?" Those are the places that her son loved to frequent. Though, she never understood the appeal of spending some time with those unintelligent beings!
"I— Madame— I couldn’t find him."
Almost immediately, her eyes narrowed. "You couldn’t find him? Was it possible that the phone was damaged?"
"No. That’s not possible. I believe.... He is not in this realm."
Realization hit her, she immediately got up. Something must have happened to her son!
After a few minutes, she arrived at the secret door inside her room. This would lead her to another hallway. After a few more seconds, she finally arrived. She opened the door of the room where she kept her most priced possession and secrets.
Using a drop of her blood and a spell that only her kind knew, she entered and room and looked at the lamps on top of the table. There were five of them, and the most noticeable one was the fifth lamp. Its light was... about to go off!
These lamps had the life essence of her son, Nero!
She approached the lamp and touched its golden handle. This is a simple technique that would let her know where her son is. Aside from this, it would also send a secret signal to her son. She is coming.
To her dismay, the technique didn’t work this time. Usually, things like this only happened if someone already owned the plane that her son was on. This technique doesn’t work on the restrictions that the owner of the plane set themselves!
She bit her lower lip to stop herself from trembling. Anger rushed through her body like a flood.
They captured her son! She thought.
She slowly put the lamp down and looked at the other things inside the room. Weapons and ancient texts and other lamps whose light long perished. All of these weapons were things that she brought when she ran away from that place.
She thought it would remind her of her past, but it only made her more and more bitter over the years. Because of this, she stopped coming here! In fact, this was the first time in twenty years that she had stepped foot in this place!
She clenched her jaw as she looked at her son’s lamp another glance. Then she turned around and left the room.
"What is the status of that woman?" she asked the head researcher. She is currently inside the lab, staring at the woman’s blank expression.
"She did not have any episodes since she woke up."
"Does this mean her memories are long gone?" she narrowed. How could someone who grew up inside this facility have memories that they could hold on to? This was because of a single mistake that they had made more than twenty-five years ago.
This specimen had escaped, and it took them more than a year to find her in The Mourning Pits!
The woman actually stayed in the place knowing that they wouldn’t dare come to that place because demons and daemons hated them. As demons and daemon’s enemies, the mourning pits are the worst thing that they could visit.
They never expected that woman to simply vanish! They thought she would come back once she realized that the outside world was different from her sheltered life. They were wrong.
Not only was she able to escape them for more than a year, but it also looked like she established a memory that she was still holding on to now.
She already used all types of spells that she knew to try to make the woman confess, but everything failed. For some reason, the woman managed to bury that memory deep into her consciousness! And this was the reason why they are having a hard time with their summoning!
They needed someone with a powerful body and magick. But the most important thing is that the body shouldn’t have any memories of her past— the body should be a blank canvas.
With the specimen’s memory, the summoning is simply bound to fail.
And they cannot fail this one!
No!
They already found the perfect body, the perfect specimen. Aside from this, the celestials can no longer wait. Earth was bound to become theirs. It was bound to fall into their hands. Humans and everyone who was born on that planet were bound to worship them.
"We need to do the experiment..." she uttered.
"What?"
"We cannot use her, so let’s use other bodies."
"But— "
She looked at the man. "I need warriors."
"But we cannot guarantee that this will— "
"They took Nero."
"Madame that— "
"They took my son!" The only ones that could easily defeat Nero were either the owner of the plane or... someone like them. Now, she knew that owning a plane is very rare, so she immediately concluded that the Lycans have an ally who was like them!
Yes. That was the only reason why Nero was defeated.
"We do not have enough— "
"I will take care of that," she said, her eyes cold. "You need bodies? I will give you bodies."
"What are you planning to— "
"A war..." Aliah uttered. "Let’s create a war!"
