"The news is crazy," Francheska couldn’t help but utter when she read the news. "I always knew they would react like this. Did they really think all of us are monsters?"

"Aren’t you curious about the attacks?" Ava asked, ignoring Francheska’s question.

To her, it was only natural to fear what you don’t understand. And usually, people react that way

But she wasn’t here to talk about that.

Today, she decided to visit Francheska at the hospital. Next to her was Jude. Apparently, Jude didn’t receive many injuries because of Francheska. She actually protected him like a knight in shining armor. This was also the reason why Francheska had to stay longer inside the hospital as Ava and the rest decided to find a way to heal the ugly scars on her back and arm.

It has been days since that explosion and her scars aren’t showing any signs of healing. Moreover, the chaos started outside of the plane. It seems that the ones responsible for the attack decided to add fuel to the fire by actually releasing some rogues and hybrids and stronger supernaturals, letting them wreak havoc on various places.

The news stated that many countries already declare their support in hunting the supernaturals. Of course, the media and many agencies took advantage of everything and were able to provide many events that were caused by the supernaturals. Obviously, this made more and more people angry.

Sadly, Ava and the rest couldn’t stop it even if they wanted to.

The only thing that they could do right now is to accept more supernaturals inside the plane. Their plans had been good so far. There were times were they caught someone who tried to bring Afliusium inside. Luckily, the plane cannot detect the presence of Afliusium but again, this only happens if Ava was inside the plane.

Because of this, she cannot just leave the plane even if she wanted to.

After a few more minutes, Ava and Drigo left Francheska and Jude and they went to see Matthew who had been busy creating some magick circle that would ban any humans from going inside the plane unless they have a special object that he created. It would be akin to a key and not many people would have one.

"I want to go to the realm," Ava said.

"What?" Matthew lifted his gaze and frowned at her. "Why?"

"I wanted to find out more about the people from the nightmare realm. I believe I can track them."

"No."

"What?"

"You can’t leave the plane. Especially not when you are the only one that could detect Afliusium."

Ava pursed her lips. She had been debating inwardly. She felt like everything happened because she imprisoned that person from the nightmare realm. And now, a part of her wanted to take responsibility for what happened. If only she could find them she thought inwardly.

However, Matthew was also right. She can’t just leave this plane as she was the only one who can detect the Afliusium. They can’t let that substance in. They cannot let it create more problems inside this plane. Because of that, Ava was forced to back down and just continue using her magick to try and reinforce the security of the plane.

As the owner of the plane, she could make it move based on her will and guard the plane against more powerful individuals who wanted to enter it. Right now, she had been studying seals.

The Shaman told her that as the owner of this place, she could create seals that would imprison everyone that would attempt to come inside the plane— especially if that someone is from the higher realms like... the celestial realm.

"Your majesty... we found this note... by the door," One of their trusted knights approached her slowly after knocking on the door. She had spent her morning with Francheska and now, she was spending more of her time trying to replicate a seal that the Shaman taught her.

Ava was well aware that even now, her knowledge was quite lacking so she is still studying to know more, to understand the cosmos.

"We cannot open it," the knight added. "But it was addressed to your majesty."

"What?" Ava accepted the small note that was folded to look like a square. She could feel a weird magick around the note.

What is it? She asked herself inwardly.

For some reason, she could feel something else inside it.

Was it... a trace of some relic?

While she was tempted to open it, she decided to check for any mechanisms first. She didn’t want to complicate things by opening some sort of illusion trap that would trap her somewhere.

After realizing that magick was only used to seal it, she opened it. Almost immediately, her face changed.

It was actually an invitation.

A woman named Aliah wanted to see her.

And if she wouldn’t go.... She is going to make sure that Samuel will become the strongest Hybrid that Ava would have to kill in the new future.

"What the fuck?" she cursed as she flipped the letter over and over.

Who the hell is Aliah?

Wait... the letter somehow reminded her of that stuff that happened at the climax of some books or movies. The leaders knew that this is going to be a trap. But they still had to come or else, their loved ones would suffer.

Moreover, they cannot tell anyone about it!

Isn’t that a bit too cliche?

Without batting an eyelid, she got up and took the letter to Matthew. Sadly, when she got there, the letter somehow vanished on its own.

Of course, even if the letter was no longer there, Matthew still believed her.

"You cannot leave this plane..." Matthew said.

"She’s going to experiment on Samuel," Ava said. Though Samuel had done some things in the past, he was also the one who gave her the relic that her father left. The least that she could do was actually keep the man safe.

"We don’t even know if she really and Samuel."

"That’s simple, I just have to visit Trillium with Jude. I can disguise myself and— "

"No."

Ava frowned. "You are hiding something."

This time, Matthew pursed his lips and said nothing.

But that was enough to confirm her suspicion. "What is it?" she asked. "What are you hiding?"

Again, Matthew said nothing. He stood there for a few seconds before letting out a sigh.

"I was looking for the right time to tell you," Matthew said. "I wasn’t just hiding it because I want to."

Ava frowned. "What is it?"

Matthew clenched his jaw. "It’s about... your father."

"My father?"

Matthew held her hand and pulled her towards the couch.

"It would be easier if I show you..." he uttered as the two of them sat on the couch. "Do not resist. It might be a little uncomfortable but I promise you, it will not be painful."

Though still confused, she nodded. Obviously, she knew that Matthew won’t do anything that would harm her.

Not long after, Matthew held her face and kissed her.

Ava’s eyes widened not because the kiss surprised her. It was because of the things that suddenly filled her head. This time... she felt like she was watching a movie. Soon, Ava saw Matthew’s encounter with her father.

The minutes turn into hours.

When she opened her eyes, she realized that it was already dark. She was alone and a small lamp was the only one illuminating the room.

She got up.

Did she just... fall asleep? No. She was certain that Matthew showed her something. In fact, she could clearly remember everything that she saw.

Then what the hell was that?

"I didn’t know it would affect you that much," Matthew suddenly appeared from the dark. Ava stared at him. He was wearing all-black clothes that would make him almost invisible in the dark. But this wasn’t the reason why she couldn’t sense him.

It was because of who he was.

Ava pursed her lips. She had so many questions... so many things that she wanted to know. Strangely enough, she didn’t know what to ask.

"After all this..." Matthew leaned against one of the columns. "Would you like to travel the realms with me?" he asked.

"This isn’t the first time that you asked me that," she asked.

"I am almost certain that this isn’t the last time either."

She frowned. The God of Darkness and Shadow. She wanted to know why a God like him would come to Earth. She wanted to know why someone like him stayed.

Was it just because they were mates?

For some unknown reason, she felt her chest constrict. Just thinking about it made her struggle to breathe.

Mates...

She chuckled.

Once again, she’s starting to think too much about things. She was originally a shallow person. She doesn’t like to overthink everything.

"Only if you tell me everything about you," she decided to use a more direct approach. "When we travel. After all... traveling is kinda boring."

Matthew looked at her for a few seconds. Then the seconds turn into minutes. He said nothing.

And she waited...

"Alright," he uttered. "I promise to tell you everything."

She beamed. Now... isn’t it time to talk about the elephant in the room? "What about Samuel?" she asked.
