Chapter 467: The Cosmos 2

Ava walked inside the large mall.

Since the news about the supernaturals, many people have stopped coming to public places like this. However, she had no other choice. The exit to the plane was near the mall— it was something that Matthew decided.

She sighed and checked the time. It was eleven in the morning. Her next plan was to get some take-outs and then proceed to go to the building where she was supposed to meet the woman named Aliah.

By now, they were able to determine that Samuel was indeed missing. Jude already talked to all of his contacts and everyone confirmed that Samuel suddenly told them he had an emergency. No one knew where he went.

And no one saw him after that.

Soon, Ava received another letter made with magick.

This time, she was instructed to come to a certain address.

She made her way into some famous restaurants that sell burgers and ordered two of their largest ones. The only thing that she missed on Earth is actually all the junk food that she used to eat.

She wanted to have some Mcdonald’s inside the plane but that’s not exactly the priority right now. Because of this, she is planning to frequent Earth to eat all the things that she missed. Fries and burgers and chips. Oh, chips! She also missed...

"Is this seat taken?"

Ava blinked when she saw green eyes that seemed to be even greener than hers. She was already waiting for her order.

"Uhhh... " Before she could answer, however, the man took the liberty to sit down. "What are you doing?"

"You are alone. I do not see anyone taking the seat."

Ava frowned. The man was staring at her as if... he wanted to cut her apart and look at her flesh.

Seeing the pointlessness of the argument, she got up, intending to move to another table when she noticed that the surrounding people stopped moving. She widened her eyes, alarm ringing in her head.

"Sit down..." the man said.

"What are you doing!?" she asked. She didn’t sense any power from the man. He was clearly not a shifter and she didn’t even notice any magick from him so he wasn’t a witch either. She stared at him. The man wasn’t moving. He was still staring at the vacant spot where she sat earlier.

"Sit... down... don’t let me ask again," the man said.

Ava bit her lower lip. "Don’t hurt other people."

"I don’t care what happened to them. I am not of your race and you probably figured that by now."

She sat back and stared at him. For some reason, something about his green eyes irked her. It felt like... she had seen it before. It’s disturbing. The moment she sat down the other people started moving again.

Did he just stop the time?

What the hell was that?

"Who are you?" she asked.

"You are going to do the answering. It’s not the other way around."

This man is a jerk, she thought inwardly.

"What is your name?"

"Ava Woods..."

"How old are you?"

"Twenty-seven..." she uttered.

"Twenty-seven..."

"Look, I don’t know what you are trying to do but this isn’t funny."

"You are one of us..."

"I am sure as hell I am not like you," she quipped back.

"Aren’t you aware that once you go out of your plane, we will notice your existence?" Finally, the man met her eyes. "Plane Owner?"

Her heart skipped a beat. Matthew and even the Shaman warned her about this. But she thought Samuel was more important than those... guardians.

Hold on...

Her eyes widened, her jaw dropped.

The man had green eyes just like the man that Matthew had talked to!

This man is a guardian!

"You— Do you not know what you are?" he narrowed his eyes at her.

"I don’t know... Are you a " she looked around and lowered her voice? "Guardian?"

"So you know what you are."

"That wasn’t an answer to my question."

"Your words didn’t answer mine either."

She pursed her lips in irritation. Now that she thought about it, the man had the same green eyes as hers. Is that the reason why she felt irritated?

She had been too preoccupied with Samuel that she had almost forgotten about her father. The man who just left her. Upon closer inspection, the man before her was actually similar to her father. He looked like the younger version of himself.

Are they related?

"You are not allowed in this realm," he stated.

"I didn’t come here to do something— "

"I don’t remember asking your purpose."

She glared at him. How annoying.

"You shall leave this place and never come back."

"I need to rescue someone." Did this man think she came here to enslave the whole world? "It’s critical that I rescue him."

The man stared at her without saying anything. As if on cue, her order came and the news on the TV nearby changed to the news about supernaturals. Apparently, some government has started their initial extermination plans against supernaturals.

Almost everyone in the fast food chain looked as if soldiers are starting to use some sort of a detection system to detect if someone is supernatural or not. The Chinese were actually the ones who created it. And now, everyone is going to buy those detection tools to kickstart their own extermination plans.

"It seems that this world is going to fall into ruin soon," he said. "Did you come here to change that?" he asked.

"I don’t understand what you are talking about."

The man didn’t answer. Instead, he continued watching the news.

She started eating her food while occasionally looking at the news and then at the man.

"I thought Guardians aren’t allowed to come here?" she asked. "Though, I am not a guardian— "

"You have the blood of one," he answered. "You are one of us."

Again, she nodded without saying another word.

"If guardians aren’t allowed to come here then... why are you here?" she asked.

"I am looking for a man."

Ava’s lips twitched. She had a bad feeling about this.

"Now that I think about it... you might have seen him. I felt your presence at that cave."

When she didn’t say a word, he added. "I am looking for someone who left eons ago."

Guardians are immortals so they live for a very long time unless, of course, someone kills them. Matthew told her that Guardians just like Gods still die. His explanation was quite complicated but Matthew was very confident that he could kill another guardian if worse become worst and they would threaten her.

"Where did he go? The man in that cave?" he asked her.

"How did you know I was in that cave?"

"I can smell your magick. It might have changed its form but... I can still smell you. Your essence stayed the same."

"I don’t know where he went," Ava said. "He told me not to find him again."

"So you have met the traitor."

"I— "

More or less, Ava knew about what his father did. He fell in love.

Falling in love wasn’t wrong. But he actually falls for a mortal witch— Ava’s mother.

"And you said that you didn’t know where he was?"

She nodded.

"Alright."

"You are just going to believe me?"

"Is there any reason for me not to believe someone who cannot lie in my presence?"

Ava immediately pursed her lips. She didn’t even know that she couldn’t lie in his presence. Until now, she still couldn’t feel any magical fluctuations coming from the man. But that might be because he was way.... More powerful than her.

"Very well... finish your food. I will accompany you."

"Huh?" she blinked. Then she blinked again. "What did you just say?"

However, the man didn’t answer and just stared at her until she awkwardly started eating and finish her food.

She got up and started walking and just as the man said, he followed her out of the fast food restaurant.

"What are you doing?"

"I cannot let you do everything that you want in this plane. You do not belong here."

"I said— "

"I wanted to make sure that you are not here to change this realm."

Seeing how serious the guy looks, she decided to just... shut up.

"What are you doing!?" she asked again. "If you want to follow me can you just do it while walking next to me?" The man was creepily following behind her like some stalker. Then he was just staring at her without saying a word.

"I will..." thankfully, he complied and walked next to her. However, he... was still staring at her. The man wasn’t even looking at the road. He just stared at her like a fucking creep!

Irritated, Ava stopped walking.

"You should stop that," she said.

"Stop what?"

"That— staring at me as if I’m some alien!? Can you just stop doing that?" she asked.

"You are such a strange creature..." he uttered. "How did you survive until now? Your body... should have been destroyed a long time ago." he said.
