Chapter 67: Second Prophecy

Ava choked on the wine, she was sipping.

A What?

"What did you just say?"

"You are my mate. If I become King, you will be my Queen."

"That would bring nothing but chaos." She’s a witch. A WITCH!

The Lycans would never accept someone from her kind to be their Queen. Chaos would surely ensue.

Now that she thought about it, they had been having sex but they hadn’t really talked about being mates and its possible effects on the current supernatural world.

"Isn’t it time that we talk to Baba?" she asked. "She might know something, anything."

Matthew pursed his lips.

"You are hiding something from me," Ava said when she noticed his fluctuating emotions. "She called you," she assumed. It was the only reason why Matthew was acting like this. "Did she?"

"She did."

"When?"

"The day... after you fell unconscious."

"And? Did she say something?"

"The second rock tablet lit up."

"A second prophecy?"

"We are not certain."

"What did it say?" she asked.

"The light will weep with molten fury, a surrender shall awaken a new entity."

"Surrender?" Ava frowned. Was it the marking? But what entity?

"It might be the marking. We are not sure. There were no records that this happened before. Baba assumed... you would die."

"I didn’t."

"Exactly," he smirked and started eating his food. "Which means...she knew nothing. What’s the point of seeing her?"

Ava was speechless.

Wow.

She didn’t really know what to say.

Was this man serious?

She squinted.

Was it really just because of that? Or because of something else?

"Eat..." he said. "You need the energy," his eyes glinted gold. Then turned back into silver as if nothing happened.

Seeing this, she shivered inwardly. Then she smiled.

"You really know the best way to distract me..."

"Of course." A smug smirk appeared on his face.

...

Lycans can fuck like rabbits.

Yes.

And the fact that their stamina is already above average, means that they could do it all night.

At least Matthew was kind enough not to do it all night.

He stopped at three.

In the fucking morning.

She glanced at the time.

It was already eleven.

The note on her bedside table told her that Matthew already left. He had another meeting.

After his apology, he informed her that his people would be helping Ava with her things. She was going back to the mansion and would be living there until... goddess knows when.

Matthew didn’t say and to be honest, she wasn’t that interested to ask either.

She glanced at the ceiling.

"Mates... huh."

The concept was weird, foreign.

And until now, she almost couldn’t believe that the marking actually worked. So, what would happen now?

She got out of bed, her feet landed on her familiar rug.

She missed staying in this room.

Memories of her past clouded her gaze.

Her familiar quilt caught her attention.

Gabriella made it.

Snorting, she walked towards the bathroom and took a quick bath before going downstairs.

She planned to pack last night but Matthew unexpectedly changed her schedule.

"Hm?" Ava spotted Simon standing outside of the house. She met the man’s gaze and decided to ignore him.

She knew she was being petty.

However, her expression soon changed when she felt various emotions swirling towards the house.

She looked outside again and this time, she saw a car.

European plates.

A man and a woman got out of the car. Their black long coats reminded her of Matthew’s. They were perfectly tailored and seemed to match their honeyed skin. While Ava couldn’t hear what they were saying, she didn’t miss the disgust in their eyes.

She squinted and waved her hand, the smell of something burning filled the house before it disappeared as quickly as it came.

Seeing them strutting towards her house, she turned to the kitchen.

She decided to watch them try to get inside her house with a coffee in hand and a smirk on her face.

.....

Almeru de Cene was, was and will always be Matthew’s best friend.

That was what Almeru told himself ever since he was a kid.

While Matthew didn’t acknowledge this fact, Almeru was adamant and had been telling everyone about his self proclaimed promise to himself.

"Simon!" Almeru’s sky blue eyes brightened when he saw Simon respectfully standing outside of the two story cabin in front of them.

"Sir Almeru." Simon respectfully smiled. But Almeru didn’t miss the awkwardness in the man’s eyes. "May I know why you are here?" Simon asked.

"I came to see the witch that pledged loyalty to Matthew...Ava Woods was it?" Almeru glanced at the house as he cleared his throat. Despite trying to say those words just like how an American would say it, his British accent was still pretty obvious. He lifted his chin, his aquiline nose scrunching as he examined the small cabin. He could smell a person inside, a woman. And definitely a powerful witch.

"May I know if the Master..."

"Nope. He doesn’t have to know. I came by my own decision. Now...call her so she can welcome us."

"I’m afraid I can’t do that."

"Hm?" An eyebrow shot up.

"Master told me not to wake Miss Woods up."

"It’s noon Simon. Who sleeps until noon?" the woman whose eyes were as blue as Almeru scowled. "Does she think she is so special just because she is Matthew’s witch?"

"Miss de Cene..." Simon greeted the woman with a curt bow. "I’m afraid, I don’t have the authority to answer your question."

Miss de Cene stumped her foot. "Brother..." she whined.

"Relax Aira.... How could a mere witch disrespect us?" Almeru said. "Simon announce our arrival." Almeru tugged at his coat before he put his hands behind his back, the action looked relaxed and extremely elegant. After spending a year in the caribbeans, Almeru had started to hate the snow. Staying out in the open was making him uncomfortable.

When Simon didn’t answer, Almeru looked at the older man."Now...Simon?"

"Sir de Cene, I sincerely apologize but Master specifically instructed me not to wake Miss Woods up."

Seeing the older man’s serious expression, a crack appeared on Almeru’s perfect face.

"Do you want me to repeat my words, Simon?" Almeru said.

"No sir." Simon straightened his back as he met Almeru’s eyes. "But the master told me to guard the house from unwanted intruders as well." A dangerous glint appeared in Simon’s eyes. "Mr. Almeru should be aware... I am willing to die just to do My Master’s bidding."
