"Ava, ever since you arrived here, have you met Broody?" A blond woman with brown eyes asked her. The woman’s name is Kath but they used to call her Cat as she liked to meow while... having sex.
Watching the woman smirk at her only reminded Ava of the things that happened in the past. Kath or Cat was one of the famous girls that liked Phil.
While she didn’t do anything to Ava, she also didn’t do anything to stop the bullying.
"No." Ava answered.
"Why?"
"Why should I?" Ava countered effortlessly. Marylis asked her to join them when she found her in her car earlier. They wanted to play truth or drink. A game that they used to play in highschool.
She tried to decline but Marylis was pretty insistent.
Honestly, Ava was starting to not like her sister in law. She was already irritated and preoccupied with what Jude said.
And now Marylis wanted her to interact with a couple of people.
And by a couple of people she meant women and men who Marylis knew. Marylis insisted it would be good to socialize and maybe find someone else to spend some time with.
In short, she wanted Ava to find a man she could go home with.
"Kath, Broody left Ava. Obviously, she wouldn’t want to meet him again." Another woman giggled. "I always thought Broody was the kind type. You know, the type that would build a family with someone?" The woman’s name was Abigail. She was Kath’s friend. A married woman who married a thirty eight year old man the moment she graduated highschool.
No judgment there.
But Ava didn’t like this woman.
Ava stared at Abigail’s oversized boobs as she started to wonder how heavy they were. Was it still possible to run if your boobs were bigger than your waist?
"She’s right. Broody left me," Ava smiled. "I don’t want to see him again."
"Oh— " Abigail dramatically gasped. "That’s devastating...isn’t it?"
"I thought we were going to play a game?" Marylis interjected.
"Oh... yes... " Abigail said. "Sorry about that." She eyed Kath and giggled. "Kath will start. Go Kath spin the bottle!"
Of course, Ava wasn’t exactly surprised when the bottle ended up being pointed her way.
She couldn’t say she expected it but...
She sighed inwardly as she wondered if she was the only oddball who didn’t enjoy other people’s company.
"Is it true that you still like Broody?" Abigail immediately asked. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"Nope." Ava answered almost immediately. Really? What kind of question was this? She couldn’t help but feel a little irritated. She had been irritated all night.
Was that even healthy?
There’s just too much in her head right now.
The Hybrids, Amore and Jude pretty much topped her list.
And then there was Samuel’s location which she already sent to Matthew.
And right... Matthew.
The walking sex god.
Her sex god.
Broody and Matthew were miles away from each other. In bed.
And maybe people would call her pervert but she was just stating facts.
Broody was boring. The type that would pump in and out without thinking of satisfying his partner.
It was that bad.
While Matthew was different.
Since they met, she had come on his tongue or fingers countless times. And it was heaven.
Her cheeks suddenly turned hot.
"Then why are you blushing?"
"Hm?" Ava was quick to lift her eyebrow. What the hell are they talking about?
"Maybe I should just go..." Ava said.
"Come on... you were lying, you should drink."
"I’m driving." Ava reasoned. This was the best reason to avoid a drink. To her surprise, she heard a voice behind her.
"I can drive you home?"
Ava froze. Then her face turned ugly.
The voice.
It was none other than Broody.
"Why are you here?" Ava hissed.
"I was invited." Broody’s gaze turned towards Abigail. "Am I not?"
"Of course you are!" Abigail said.
"Who invited you?" Ava said. "I don’t remember doing that. You know since this is basically my party?"
"Ava..."
"Ava how could you— "
"Oh please Abigail. Did you forget why the party was held?"
Seeing their reaction, Ava smiled.
"Did you?"
Her eyes met Marylis’s pale face.
And right then and there, she knew.
The woman...
Intentionally did it.
Her chest raised and fell. If this happened in the past, she would have exploded by now. The lights would have flickered and the windows slamming.
But she was different now.
True.
She was still angry.
But she didn’t feel the need to destroy things anymore. No. She felt calm. Collected even.
Was that even possible?
"V... calm down. We are just here to have fun." Marylis said in a gentle voice.
Fuck.
She hated this woman.
"And he was just offering to drive you home. He knows where you live. The man was just trying to be nice, you know." Abigail added.
"She’s right V. You should loosen up and let him take you home. This is your night, you know?" A voice said.
Ava squinted. Did these people think she would let it pass?
Madness!
"Why are you here Broody? Your pregnant wife is still missing and you are here partying?" Ava asked, sarcasm laced her tone. "I mean... "
"I just came to welcome an old friend."
"Old friend who?" Ava asked with a smirk on her face. Since Marylis wanted her to be angry then... she will show her what anger is.
However, before she could say another word, the front door opened.
The coldness from the snow outside made everyone shiver.
She turned towards the door and immediately froze when she saw a very... familiar silhouette.
Matthew.
What’s he doing here?
Ava gulped when she noticed the invisible pressure coming from Matthew.
Everyone who saw Matthew also seemed to freeze. And this time it wasn’t from the snow. It was the dominance that his gaze held.
"There is no need to drive my woman to our place." Matthew said coldly. His gaze landed on Ava. "I am perfectly capable of doing that."
