How could someone bleed without any visible wounds?
Ava snorted as she watched the man who was flailing his arms as he ran around the stage.
He was already too deep into her illusion, unless someone hit his real body outside and he fainted or died, he wouldn’t be able to get out of it.
Or at least that’s how normal illusions work.
"Hey... it’s an illusion..."
Ava smirked when she heard one of the Lycans behind her.
"That— Isn’t that forbidden?"
"It’s not."
"No. I mean... why is he bleeding? She must be doing something to his wolf."
"Impossible. Munoz is strong. How could she do something to his wolf?"
"But— "
"Should we stop the fight?"
"They signed an oath. No one can stop it aside from... "
Ava looked at Matthew who was also intensely staring at her. He still looked pissed. And she could feel his suffocating anger.
One thing that Ava noticed was actually the fact that Matthew’s emotions became clearer since the marking. Even if he was blocking her ability to read his mind, she could clearly feel his emotions. And it had gotten stronger.
Ava blinked and her gaze turned towards another person. It was another Lycan. Simon.
"You have questions..." Ava said. She could feel the man’s curiosity.
While everyone else was scared of Ava, Simon was curious. Isn’t that amusing?
"Mr. Munoz is one of the strongest Lycans that we have. He is a noble warrior of the empire." Simon said, he side eyed Matthew and seeing that their master was still staring at Ava, he continued, "May I know why is he acting like that?"
"He is fighting against someone inside his head."
"May I know who?"
"Himself." Ava grinned and looked at the man.
"So, the illusion will be broken once he beats himself?" Simon asked.
"No. Another one will just arrive to fight him."
"Then, how is he going to break out from the illusion?"
"Simple... " Ava looked around. "If he dies inside or... runs out of energy." The man might be strong but he can’t really spend all of his time moving around like an animal who was fighting against someone invisible.
"I can smell you!" the man named Munoz yelled. "Show me yourself you fucking witch!" Blood flowed out of the man’s lips. He carelessly wiped it. And yelled. "Show yourself, you coward!"
"So... if he is fighting against someone inside his mind then... why is he vomiting blood?" Simon continued. A wound or injury inside an illusion should not implicate the physical body of the person, no? After all, illusions were just inside someone’s head.
How could he vomit blood without sustaining any injuries?
Ava only smiled in response.
"I don’t know." And that was the truth. This wasn’t the first time that she used illusion but this was the first time that this happened.
In the previous instances, her illusions wouldn’t last long. It was only used to protect a small space or to act like a trap or just to trick her enemies. It was especially useful in creating traps. This was because casting an illusion is not only taxing to the body of the witch. It was also a long and arduous process. It would suck all of the witch’s magick and would leave the witch in a weak state.
Because of this, illusions are casted by two to three witches. They did it to lessen the burden of the spell.
Of course, Ava did it alone in the past.
She was too egotistical, too crazy and immature for a fight.
She wanted to survive and she was willing to use everything at her disposal to live another day.
But the marking changed everything.
Not only did the spell not take a toll on her body, she also performed it as easily as creating a fireball.
Her magick pool located in her navel had grown. In the past, it felt like a small compact ball. But now, the pool felt like a sea. Magick coursed inside the sea.
"Miss Ava?" Simon’s words interrupted her stupor. "Why is he vomiting blood?"
Ava only smiled. "No idea."
Her words weren’t that loud but everyone heard her.
"You know Simon... some witches can be dangerous because of their experience and magick. But some... there are just some who are dangerous because... they are untrained." She wasn’t really trained as no one wanted to train her in Trillium. Samuel personally hired a teacher to teach her basic spells.
At that time, she thought it was because she was just some girl who arrived at that school to become one of them. But after Jude’s revelation, she understood that someone was trying to stop her from growing. Someone wanted to stop her from learning.
And Samuel knew this. freёweɓnovel_com
She gritted her teeth as irritation made its way into her head.
She snapped her finger and almost immediately, Munoz screamed before coughing up a mouthful of blood. The thick smell of blood immediately filled the room. Everyone’s expressions worsened.
She could feel them glare at her, some even thought of attacking her from behind.
She turned towards the source of the animosity.
It was a woman.
Must be the man’s lover, Ava thought before smirking at the woman.
Then she turned her attention back to the convulsing man.
Yes, Munoz started convulsing on the floor. He was hugging his stomach, blood continued flowing out of his mouth.
"What are you doing!? You are killing him!" the woman finally said something.
"Oh?" Ava only smiled, her dress danced even without the wind. "I thought we were having a Death match..." Ava didn’t hide the sarcasm in her voice. "If you think I misunderstood something feel free to stop the match and be my slave."
"How dare you!" the woman growled, her eyes turned red as fangs appeared on her teeth.
"Ivana! Calm down! You can’t do this!" the woman next to Ivana and another man immediately held her arm.
"How dare you treat a Lycan like that!"
For some reason, that statement made Ava really really angry.
"Tsk... so noisy."
