Chapter 78: The Bloody Wife

Tip number one.

Don’t fuck someone in an elevator unless you don’t mind contaminating the place. Cum smells and leaving that smell in an elevator sure is awkward. At least she could use her magick to get rid of any residue.

Ava could only lower her head after they left the elevator.

Funny how embarrassment kicked in too late. Embarrassment and lust were like thunder and lightning. For some reason, lust always came first. Then the embarrassment.

Ava could only smile at herself.

She didn’t even know how she had become so bold. But she kinda liked this side of her.

"Hm?"

Ava looked around.

"Matthew?"

Matthew was no longer walking beside her.

A dream?

Right, she remembered going back to her room for a hot bath. She doesn’t remember sleeping. Not at all. Did she fall asleep in the bathtub?

She looked around.

Just like every dream, this one started with her being inside a foggy area,

She was currently dream walking!

Ava decided to see where this was going.

In the past, dream walking was something that was triggered by her emotions, her anger. But this is different.

She closed her eyes as she continued walking forward.

She couldn’t hear or smell anything.

As usual.

Soon, her feet landed on a rough surface.

Opening her eyes, she realized that she was walking on the sand. She squinted at the sun. It felt hot; the sand felt hot underneath her bare feet.

She continued walking and found a palm tree.

"Hm?"

Ava frowned, then she started smiling.

What are the odds?

What are the odds that she would come inside Romeo Mclary’s dream? The dream of the man who killed her mother.

The man a few feet away was sitting on what looked like a picnic mat. Fruits and sandwiches can be seen next to him. He was smiling. He looked relaxed and happy.

Ava frowned.

The man was looking at the sea.

Soon, Ava immediately realized that the man wasn’t just staring at the shore. He was staring at another woman walking toward him.

Green eyes, pale skin, and a beautiful smile. The woman’s hair looked just like Ava’s. It wasn’t blond or brown, but a mixture of two. But her eyes were not as deep as Ava’s. Now that the woman was near her, Ava could clearly see that her eyes weren’t exactly green. It looked blue, sky blue. They looked like the sky.

And it was beautiful.

The woman was beautiful.

The woman stood in front of Romeo. She gestured for him to accompany her to the shore, but Romeo shook his head. Instead, he pulled her towards his lap. The woman let out a surprised squeal before she giggled. Her sweet voice echoed inside the dream.

Was that Romeo’s wife?

Ava decided to walk closer.

"The sun is too hot," Romeo said, his voice gentle, his eyes almost looking like they were hazy. "You should stay under the shade."

The woman pouted in response.

"I love the sea."

Romeo chuckled before giving the woman a quick kiss. "I know. But the sun would damage your skin."

"Would you stop loving me if I don’t look as pale?" the woman asked.

"What?"

Ava squinted. Isn’t this the perfect opportunity to have her revenge?

She had thought of walking into Amore’s dream. But that would be too risky. She also thought of going inside Romeo’s dream, but... for some reason, she couldn’t do it. She thought it was because she was too emotional, too angry.

After all, emotions could affect someone’s magick.

She smiled and soon watched as Romeo kissed the woman again.

"Of course I do."

"Then...." The woman smiled. "What about if my face changed?"

"Huh?"

Before Romeo could say another word, the woman’s face slowly morphed into another person’s face. It was the face of the fourth victim. The woman who went missing from Valdez.

"Would you still love me if I look like this?" the woman smiled as Romeo paled.

"You— "

"What?"

"You are not— "

"Romeo? What are you talking about? This is me... your wife."

"I— "

"So you won’t love me. I should have known..."

"That.... No!"

Ava watched as Romeo’s face turned even paler.

"What about this face?" It was the face of the second victim.

"What is happening?" Romeo asked. He looked around as if... as if he knew that someone was messing with his dream.

"Romeo?"

"Who are you ?’ Romeo pushed the woman out of his lap. Then he got up. Anger was apparent in his eyes as he glared at the woman. "Who the hell are you?"

"If I am not your wife..." the woman said. She slowly got up. Her appearance was now back to her appearance before. The beautiful woman stood in front of Romeo. "Then... who am I?"

"You— " Romeo took a step back. His eyes were wide, his breathing shallow. "Get away from me!"

"Romeo? Don’t you love me anymore?"

Half of the woman’s face turned into a bloody skull whose eye sockets were empty. The other half was still smiling gently. It was hideous. Even Ava felt like she was watching a horror movie.

Romeo took another step back until he started running.

"Stay away!"

"Romeo... don’t you love me anymore?"

The voice echoed.

Soon, another voice, a deeper one echoed.

"Romeoooooo.... Don’t you love me anymore?"

"Romeoooo honey? Don’t you love me anymore?"

"Romeo! Look at me! Why are you running away from me?"

"Darling...."

The woman caught up to Romeo. No matter how much he tried to run, the woman was still running next to him.

"Romeo... I thought you wanted me." And she was still smiling at him. However, unlike before, all of her face now looked like a skull — whose bloody flesh was still visible.

Romeo could smell her, the stench, the rotten smell.

"Get away from me! You are not my wife!"

"Romeo.... I want to be with you." The woman held her hand towards him. "Do you want to be with me?"

Before the woman could touch Romeo, Ava woke up in her tub.

Ava’s eyes were wide before she sneezed.

The water had gotten cold.

But she didn’t care about freezing at all.

All she cared about was her dream. All she cared about was doing it again.
