After saying that, Su Er stopped struggling, and Jiang Siyan felt the dampness on his shoulder.
He pulled her into his arms and wiped away her tears with his fingers. "Look at you, crying like a cat after a little tantrum."
He playfully pinched her nose and asked, "Where do you get such a temper? You can't even say a word."
Upon hearing this, Su Er became restless and tried to wriggle off him.
The little girl's temper changed faster than turning the pages of a book.
Jiang Siyan quickly grabbed her waist and patiently coaxed her, saying each word carefully, "It's alright, it's my fault. I shouldn't have said those things and hurt Er'er's feelings."
Su Er lowered her head, and although she was trying to comfort her, her tears fell even more heavily, one by one, like crystal-clear pearls, dripping onto her dark green dress and spreading out in a few dark ink spots.
Jiang Siyan placed his palm on her cool arm, his fingertips rubbing it. "You've been so far away from me since you got in the car. You don't even know to come closer to me when you're cold."
What was she doing leaning over there? Leng's first instinct was to adjust the air conditioner temperature, but even that action required her to think twice.
He wasn't someone she could rely on completely. If she ended up offending him, she would lose even the last shred of her dignity.
She thought that this was how it would be for them, that they would gradually lose contact over time and eventually become strangers whose appearances she could barely remember.
Or, she gets into the car, he coldly mocks her, says a few words criticizing her for being ungrateful, and then ruthlessly makes her get out of the car.
Clichéd plots always play out.
In short, in Su Er's rehearsal, it was definitely not like this now, with her sitting in Jiang Siyan's lap, him wiping away her tears and kissing her cheeks to comfort her.
Everything went against her expectations.
After she fully realized his inherent coldness and indifference, she unexpectedly felt a tenderness and affection that made him all the more endearing.
Su Er suddenly understood the lyrics, "If gentleness is a lie, you won't change your mind."
She finally gave in to herself, telling herself that this was enough in this not-so-pure relationship.
Feelings are often unequal, but in this story, Su Er felt that she and Jiang Siyan were about equals; they were both people who held back.
Perhaps this can be considered another kind of soul connection.
If she herself can't do it, how can she expect him to be completely sincere?
