Chapter 47 Don't look for others

Sensing her softened attitude, Jiang Siyan loosened his grip on her.

He took a tissue from the side and gently wiped away her tears, saying with a smile, "Look at you, as soon as you got on the bus, all you could talk about was your senior brother, but now you're crying over me. I'll get jealous too, Er'er."

In the end, Su Er seemed to detect a hint of bitterness and grievance in his tone.

Su Er looked at him with red eyes, her voice thick with emotion, "I only met him today, and he was always with a bunch of people when we ate together, why are you jealous?"

Her voice trailed off, and she mumbled something indistinctly, "Besides, I didn't ask anyone to come to my room in the middle of the night."

"What?" Jiang Siyan's voice rose at the end, carrying an obvious hint of mockery.

Su Er knew he had heard her clearly, so she buried her head in her hands and wiped away her tears.

Seeing that Su Er's mood was turning from gloomy to moderately sunny, Jiang Siyan hurriedly explained to her, "The people under me are dishonest and want to take crooked paths. I've become the scapegoat. If you don't believe me, go ask He Wen how many people I reprimanded for this matter and how long the meeting on conduct issues lasted the next day."

He Wen was his man, so naturally whatever he said went.

However, Su Er kept these words to herself and didn't say them aloud.

She understood that some things should be done in moderation.

But once the tears start flowing, they don't just stop; when emotions surge, there always needs to be a buffer period.

Jiang Siyan looked at the tissue in his hand, which was soaked with tears, and thought she was still sad. He took another tissue and gently pressed it to her face, holding up the tear-soaked tissue to show her. "These tears are really endless, Er'er. Why don't you punch me a couple of times to vent your anger and give me a smile? You agree, right?"

Su Er trembled at his low, hoarse breath and actually reached out and punched him.

Jiang Siyan grabbed her fist and clutched it to his chest, looking like he was in great pain. "Ouch, this is really bad."

Su Er had seen this man's shameless and cunning ways before, but she was still amused by his exaggerated performance and burst into laughter through her tears.

Her eyelashes were still wet with tears, but her expression was visibly much better. "Jiang Siyan, your acting was terrible."

"Yes, after all, our Er'er is a professional, and I can only try my hand at it in front of you."

Su Er poked his chest with her fingertip, "Why are you so glib?"

Jiang Siyan tapped her forehead with a helpless expression. "There's nothing I can do. I'm getting old, and I'm afraid there will be too many sweet words from outside. What if Er'er doesn't want me anymore?"

Su Er looked into his eyes and said nothing.

He spoke as if their love would last forever, but such words are just fleeting illusions.

Su Er had been holding her back up all night and was exhausted. She relaxed and pressed her ear against Jiang Siyan's chest.

His body heat enveloped her, and the chill that had made her shiver from the air conditioning gradually faded.

The strong, rhythmic heartbeat emanating from Jiang Siyan's chest had a hypnotic effect, and Su Er found herself getting sleepy as she listened.

Jiang Siyan casually stroked her hair, then suddenly asked, "Did the necklace malfunction tonight?"

Su Er replied lazily, "Yeah, it's the same style as someone else's, so it's hard to carry. My senior helped me borrow it from another brand."

Jiang Siyan asked, "Why didn't you call me?"

Su Er pinched his arm in a fit of anger, asking him what she had called him back then, even though she already knew the answer.

Jiang Siyan didn't care about the ticklish pain. He hooked his fingers around hers and said, "In the future, don't ask others for this kind of thing. Tell me."

These words sounded like a promise to her, that she could turn to him for anything in the future.

"Hmm? Did you hear that?" Jiang Siyan gently stroked her cheek with his fingertips.

Su Er nodded, but only listened casually and didn't really take it to heart.

Promises, like products, have an expiration date. However, product packaging always clearly prints the expiration date, but promises don't, and you never know when they will expire.

Once you take it seriously, you'll likely be stuck worrying about the expiration date and the possibility of losing it.

Su Er did not want to find herself in such a passive position.

These few words completely dispelled her drowsiness. Looking at the unfamiliar road outside, Su Er remembered to ask him, "Where are we going?"

"At home."

Su Er paused for a moment when he heard those two words, but quickly filled in the blank in his mind: his home.

Jiang Siyan touched her lower abdomen and asked, "Didn't you eat dinner? Is your stomach upset?"

He still remembered the time she was so hungry that her stomach hurt.

She was indeed starving, but whether it was the candy that had worked or because she had passed her peak of hunger, she no longer felt empty in her stomach.

Of course, it's also possible that she was so angry while crying that she felt full.

Su Er said, "It's alright."

The car turned into the alley, and the surroundings gradually became quiet. Jiang Siyan's place was deep in the alley, surrounded by similar rooftops.

If you put her at the entrance of the alley, she definitely won't be able to find this place.

The parking area in front of the house was quite spacious. After parking the car, Jiang Siyan took her hand and led her into the house.

The lights in the courtyard were already on. Su Er curiously turned her head to look left and right. Although the courtyards she had visited in the past few days were all nice, Su Er still liked today's the most. It didn't have such a strong modern Chinese style, and the ancient flavor was stronger.

Every brick underfoot and every window in sight seems to tell a long story of history. The warm yellow light under the eaves makes the whole courtyard feel cozy and grand.
