Chapter 47 Don't look for others

"What kind of tree is that?" Su Er asked, pointing to a large, lush tree in the corner of the courtyard.

"persimmon."

"A persimmon tree?"

Jiang Siyan pointed it out to her, "Do you see the light yellow-green flowers on it?"

Su Er squinted, barely able to make out a glimpse, and nodded.

Jiang Siyan slowed his pace and spoke to her in a calm and gentle tone, “In a little while they will turn into green fruits. In autumn they will be golden persimmons. When I was a little kid, my grandfather would pick fruit for me to eat. I would stand below and catch them with a cloth bag. Some of the ripe ones would fall down and hit my head, splattering my face with persimmon juice.”

Su Er's focus was different from everyone else's. While others found the scene amusing, she tilted her head back and asked him with a smile, "Is it sweet?"

Her swollen eyes from crying, coupled with the way she was swallowing her saliva, made her look exactly like a gluttonous cat.

Jiang Siyan pinched the soft flesh on her cheek and said, "Sweet, when the persimmons are ripe, I'll climb up and pick the sweetest one for you, okay?"

Su Er clearly didn't believe it, and scoffed, "You can climb trees?"

Jiang Siyan's tone became more serious, like a young man eager to prove his strength, "How could I not? Back then, the old man was too old to swing the club, so he had the guards around him hit the persimmons for me. They were all afraid of the persimmons hitting me, so they were hesitant and timid. I simply climbed the tree myself to pick them. In short, the sweetest and biggest one on the tree every year was definitely picked by me."

Driven by a man's competitive spirit, Jiang Siyan also felt a surge of youthful ambition and ambition.

He stopped in his tracks, making a gesture as if to roll up his sleeves, and said in a thick Beijing accent, "What? You still don't believe me?"

It wasn't that she didn't believe his past experiences; she was just wondering if they were still together back then.

Such a thought only flashed through Su Er's mind for a moment before she quickly dismissed it. To ruin the beautiful moment of sleeplessness and worry was truly unacceptable.

Su Er quickly grabbed his hand and mimicked his words, "I believe you, I believe you. When the time comes, after you pick the persimmons, I'll make you persimmon wine, okay?"

Jiang Siyan, raising his voice in return, asked her, "You can also make medicinal wine?"

Su Er chuckled awkwardly and said, "No."

She had brought this up in a moment of inspiration, and Su Er smiled shyly again, saying, "I'll learn it then."

"I think you're just being greedy."

Su Er snorted and her lips drooped.

Jiang Siyan pinched her cheek and kissed her pouting red lips, saying, "Where did you get so angry? If you want to learn, then learn. It doesn't matter if you ruin it. This tree is full of fruit, enough for you to make your own."
