Chapter 3 Encounter on the Street

Seeing that Mingdai looked unwell, the female driver didn't dare to be careless.

After thinking it over carefully, he shook his head in confirmation.

"No, I was originally going to stay with you every step of the way that night, but then Mr. Mo called and asked me to pick up some clothes. He had ordered a few spring dresses for you, you know. On my way back, I received a message from you saying that I should go home and rest and not pick you up."

Mingdai gripped the coffee cup so tightly that her knuckles turned white.

Why did Mo Tingchuan send the driver away at that time?

She had no recollection of whether she had sent a message to the driver.

She had complete amnesia about that night; it was as if something had completely ripped away her consciousness and everything else.

The coffee was so bitter it was hard to swallow, so Mingdai silently went back to the club where she had celebrated her birthday last year.

"I'm sorry, ma'am, we couldn't find any record of you staying here last year. However, all your expenses on your birthday were paid by a Mr. Mo. As for the surveillance video, I'm sorry, we can only keep it for a maximum of six months."

Nothing was gained.

Although she had expected this outcome, Mingdai was still inexplicably disappointed.

What she can't be sure of now is whether she really did something with that man that night, or whether it was all a show put on by Mo Tingchuan and that man.

In short, Mo Tingchuan could never be innocent.

Mingdai pressed her temples, which were throbbing with pain, and stood in the biting cold wind of the late spring chill. An unprecedented sense of despondency overwhelmed her.

In the evening, Mingdai still went to the hospital.

As the cold liquid was poured into the back of her hand, she dialed her father's number.

After a few brief greetings, the father smiled and mentioned Mo Tingchuan.

“Tingchuan has now completely stood up, and with him leading the way, I feel much more relaxed.”

"By the way, did he tell you about coming home for dinner this weekend? Your mom is worried that he'll be too busy to take care of you."

"How have you been feeling lately? Your mom made your favorite medicinal soup. Come over early this weekend."

Mingdai couldn't bear to interrupt her father's cheerful concern. No matter what she said, she couldn't bring herself to tell him the cruel truth: Mo Tingchuan had cheated on her and she wanted to divorce him.

My parents are getting old, and they've been working hard for Mo Tingchuan for the past three years under pressure. If I told them that their sincerity was met with betrayal from an ingrate, they definitely wouldn't be able to accept it.

Moreover, once this matter becomes public knowledge, everyone will know about it, and then how will people in the circle view the parents?

Rumors can kill silently; how can parents bear such a thing?

It was already dark when the IV drip was finished, and Mingdai was starving.

Although she didn't have much of an appetite, she decided to fill her stomach anyway, because she needed to ensure she had enough energy to fight Mo Tingchuan.

The hospital was located in a bustling downtown area. Just as Mingdai was looking for a restaurant, she unexpectedly ran into Mo's mother, Mo Yumei, and Mo Qingying, who were shopping.

Between these two was Qin Weiwei, whom they were protecting closely.

A feeling of suffocation washed over me.

In that instant, Mingdai felt as if she had been slapped hard across the face.

It turns out that everyone knew that Mo Tingchuan and Qin Weiwei were together, but she alone still firmly believed that Mo Tingchuan would grow old with her.

Mo Qingying stood silently in front of Qin Weiwei, and reluctantly waved to Ming Dai.

"Sister Ming."

Since Mingdai married into the Mo family, Mo Qingying has never called Mingdai "sister-in-law".

She had her own reasons, which explained why her older sister was more approachable.

Mingdai didn't care; it was just a form of address. As long as they had a good relationship, calling each other by name was no big deal.

However, upon hearing her call her "Sister Ming" now, Ming Dai understood that Mo Qingying was unwilling to accept her from the bottom of her heart.

Mo Yumei gave Mo Qingying a wink, and Mo Qingying ran off to Mingdai alone.

"Sister Ming, it's so cold, why aren't you staying home? What if you get sick again?"

Mo Qingying approached Mingdai and looked her up and down, appearing very concerned about her.

Mingdai remained expressionless.

"Let's go out and get something to eat."

"Huh? You haven't learned to cook yet?"

Mo Qingying frowned. "I'm sorry, Sister Ming. It's all my fault for calling Aunt Liu over. Otherwise, you wouldn't have missed your meal."

She sighed again, full of regret.

"If only you knew how to cook. It's really not that hard. There are tons of tutorials online. I just don't know how you learned it. Why are you still stuck in the same place?"

"Sister Ming, why don't you try again?"

Last year, Mo Qingying kept urging Mingdai to learn how to cook. Mingdai knew that this must have been Mo's mother's idea.

When Mingdai first married into the Mo family, they treated her like a precious and fragile treasure, not letting her do anything.

But as the Mo family gradually improved, their attitude slowly changed.

"The fumes make me uncomfortable."

Mingdai knew perfectly well what Mo Qingying was thinking; she simply thought Mo Qingying was spoiled and lazy.

Whether or not she wants to cook is her own business, but Mo Qingying and her daughter just want her to stay in the kitchen all day serving Mo Tingchuan.

Oh!

Mingdai chuckled with amusement as she looked at Mo Qingying.

"I feel like I really don't have any talent in this area. Why don't you learn it and teach me?"

Mo Qingying opened her mouth, looking quite embarrassed.

"But I also have to help my brother with his work, how could I possibly have the time!"

Mo Qingying didn't want to go into the kitchen; she wanted to be a strong woman, not a kitchen maid.

Seeing Mingdai staring at her with a deep gaze, Mo Qingying felt inexplicably guilty, but couldn't help but think to herself, "Who's like you, enjoying a life of leisure without having to do anything all day?"

If you don't see eye to eye, even half a sentence is too much.

"Sister Ming, you should eat first. I'm going shopping with my friends for a while, so I won't keep you company."

"I think I've met your friend before, right? We had dinner at your house before, didn't we?"

Mingdai called out to Mo Qingying, who was turning to leave.

She gestured with her eyes towards Qin Weiwei, who was standing with Mo Yumei not far away.

The streetlights were bright. Qin Weiwei was wearing a warm white coat and a scarf of the same color. A pearl headband made her black hair look incredibly gentle. She was also carrying a limited edition small bag.

It's just a harmless little white flower.

"Let's go say hello."

Mingdai pulled Mo Qingying away.

Mo Qingying was pulled a couple of steps before she hurriedly stopped Ming Dai.

"Sister Ming, my friend isn't feeling well and is about to go back. Look, it's quite cold outside. Why don't you go eat first, and we can talk later?"

Mo Qingying was unaware that her brother had already told Ming Dai everything.

She didn't want to expose her friend. Qin Weiwei was the apple of her family's eye, and she was pregnant with her nephew. She couldn't afford any mishaps.

Mingdai was ruthlessly pushed away by Mo Qingying, and she smiled with narrowed eyes.

Fine, since this family is so heartless, what else is there for her to be sad about?

If you think about it carefully, the plan that Mo Tingchuan and his mother were secretly plotting is probably about to come to fruition.

Mingdai raised an eyebrow with amusement, the flickering streetlights casting a chilling light in her eyes.
