Chapter 81: Dangerous Approach
Qin Xue left the library, her heart full of doubts. The doctor's disappearance and the clues he left in the library made her investigation more complicated. She knew that she had to find the doctor as soon as possible to uncover the last layer of the old hospital's secrets.
However, she didn't realize that her investigation had attracted the attention of someone. This person was the mastermind behind the secrets of the old hospital. He knew that Qin Xue was close to the core of the truth and he couldn't let her live.
So he began to plan an assassination against Qin Xue. He hired a group of professional killers to attack Qin Xue on her way home.
As Qin Xue was driving home, she suddenly sensed a sense of danger. She immediately slowed down and looked in the rearview mirror, only to see several black cars approaching rapidly, a cold air emanating from the car windows.
Qin Xue's heartbeat quickened. She knew it was the killer's signal. She reacted quickly, swerving the steering wheel and driving into a narrow alley. The killers' car was hot on their heels, but Qin Xue had already gotten there first, finding a secluded corner.
She got out of the car and quickly hid behind a truck parked on the side of the road. The killers filed in, searching the alley for Qin Xue.
Qin Xue held her phone tightly in her hand. She knew she had to call for help as soon as possible. She quietly dialed a number and then clung to the back of the truck, waiting for help to arrive.
Chapter 82: Life and Death Contest
Qin Xue held her breath, her heart pounding like a drum. Every slight sound made her nervous. The killers searched the alley, their footsteps echoing in the empty street, sounding particularly harsh.
Qin Xue knew she couldn't be found. If they found her, she didn't know if she could escape alive. She stared at her phone, hoping help would arrive soon.
Just then, she heard the sound of a car engine, coming from far away and approaching quickly. She looked up and saw a black car speeding towards her, its headlights illuminating the alley.
The killers spotted the car and immediately dispersed, preparing to intercept it. However, the car did not stop, but rushed directly towards the killer at the entrance of the alley.
Qin Xue saw clearly that the person in the driver's seat was a familiar face - it was a policeman she had met during an investigation. He claimed to be her ally and had been helping her secretly.
The killers were frightened by the car's momentum and retreated. Qin Xue took the opportunity to jump out of the truck and hide in the alley. The car stopped beside her, the door opened, and she quickly got in.
The policeman drove the car out of the alley at lightning speed. Qin Xue turned around and saw that the killers had already reacted and started chasing. Their car was following closely behind, but the car's speed advantage allowed Qin Xue to successfully distance herself from the police.
"Thank you, I thought I would die here tonight." Qin Xue panted and looked at the policeman beside her with gratitude.
The policeman nodded, his eyes serious. "These people are dangerous. We must find a doctor as soon as possible and uncover their plan."
Qin Xue clutched the disc tightly in her hand, knowing it held the key to unlocking the secrets of the old hospital. She looked out the window, determined to persevere no matter the dangers ahead.
