Chapter 1269 Collecting Medicinal Herbs

The Ghost Doctor said, "That's excellent. I will do my best to find these medicinal herbs. If I really can't find them, I'll have to use other medicines instead."

Xu Yuehuai looked at the Ghost Doctor gratefully: "Thank you, I'll have to trouble you with this matter."

The Ghost Doctor smiled slightly: "Your Highness is too kind. Since I promised the Prince that I would protect you, I will never let anything happen to you."

The atmosphere around her immediately relaxed, and Xu Yuehuai felt more confident. With Qi Guze's arrangements, she was sure she would be able to complete her task sooner.

The next morning, sunlight shone through the veil of clouds and onto the bustling streets.

Xu Yuehuai stood by the window of the restaurant, gently stroking the hem of her clothes, a resolute glint in her eyes.

She specially changed into men's clothing today, tied up her hair, and presented herself as a young master, so that it would be easier for her to act.

Xu Yuehuai slowly walked out of the restaurant and into the bustling crowd, soon arriving in front of Tianxiang Restaurant.

She stepped lightly into the shop, and the shopkeeper, seeing her imposing presence and the special token in her hand, warmly led her into a private room.

"What are your orders, sir?" the shopkeeper asked.

Xu Yuehuai took out the list that the Ghost Doctor had given her yesterday, "Find the medicines on this list for me."

"I will do my best to prepare the medicinal herbs you require." The shopkeeper respectfully took the list and looked at it carefully.

"Okay, thank you for your trouble. I'll come to pick it up in three days," Xu Yuehuai said seriously.

"Don't worry," the shopkeeper assured him.

After leaving Tianxiang Tower, Xu Yuehuai was about to embark on her journey home when she unexpectedly bumped into someone at the entrance. The person staggered a few steps and fell to the ground, attracting the attention of those around her.

"How can this person just bump into other people like that?" someone whispered, their voice tinged with dissatisfaction.

"What are you looking at? I'm talking to you." Someone pointed at Xu Yuehuai, their tone accusatory.

Xu Yuehuai felt helpless. She clearly hadn't touched the man, so why did he suddenly fall? She sighed softly, took out a silver ingot from her pocket, and handed it to the waiter beside her, "Take him to see a doctor."

Just as she was about to turn and leave, the homeless man suddenly grabbed her skirt and said in a weak but firm voice, "Girl, thank you. I will definitely repay you in the future."

These words immediately caused an uproar among those around them.

Xu Yuehuai was clearly dressed as a man today, so how could this homeless man recognize her as a woman at a glance?

The people around him were talking amongst themselves, and some even laughed, "Isn't that a young master? Why is he saying that the other person is a girl? Looks like he's hit his head and broken it."

Xu Yuehuai was puzzled. She looked down at the homeless man and saw that his face was pale, but his eyes were shining with an unusual light. She frowned slightly, and a strange feeling suddenly welled up in her heart, as if she knew this person.

Just then, a figure emerged from the crowd—it was the Ghost Doctor. He quickly walked to Xu Yuehuai's side and whispered, "Let's go."

Xu Yuehua nodded slightly and followed the Ghost Doctor back to the room in the restaurant.

As soon as she entered, she asked impatiently, "What happened to that person? Why did he suddenly faint? Did you notice anything about his condition?"

The Ghost Doctor pondered for a moment and said, "He looks quite healthy, but his pulse is a bit abnormal. I suspect he has some hidden ailment. However, since you've already compensated him, you don't need to worry about it too much."

Xu Yuehuai, however, disagreed; she felt there was something strange about the matter. She walked to the window, gazing at the bustling streets outside, her heart filled with turbulent emotions.

Just then, the waiter from the restaurant came in carrying a plate of exquisite pastries. He said with a smile, "Young Master Xu, these are our restaurant's latest pastries. Please enjoy them."

Xu Yuehuai smiled slightly and reached out to take some snacks.

However, the Ghost Doctor suddenly reached out and stopped her, saying in a deep voice, "Don't touch it, there's poison here."

Upon hearing this, both Xu Yuehuai and the waiter were stunned.

The waiter's face turned pale instantly, and he stammered, "This...how is this possible? These pastries...they were just made..."

The ghost doctor didn't answer him, but instead took out a silver needle from his robes and gently pricked the pastry. The needle instantly turned black, clearly tainted by poison.

Xu Yuehuai's expression also turned serious. She looked at the waiter and asked in a deep voice, "Who sent these pastries?"

The waiter said in a trembling voice, "It's...it's Chef Wang from the kitchen."

A resolute glint flashed in Xu Yuehuai's eyes; it seemed that an enemy had already found this place.

She instructed the waiter, "Take me to the kitchen to find Chef Wang. I have some questions for him."

The Ghost Doctor also decided to go along and stood with her.

The waiter quickly responded and carefully led the two towards the kitchen.

Their footsteps echoed clearly in the empty corridor.

However, shortly after they left the room, a dark figure suddenly appeared in the doorway, then quickly vanished into the darkness as if it had never been there...

Upon entering the kitchen, all was quiet. The fire in the stove had long since gone out, leaving only a few dim oil lamps flickering in the wind.

Xu Yuehuai looked around but couldn't find Chef Wang. She frowned, turned to the waiter sternly, and said, "Where's that Chef Wang you mentioned? If you can't find him, we'll have to report you to the authorities. If you get arrested, you won't be able to explain yourself."

The waiter turned pale with fright and hurriedly waved his hands, "Miss, please don't report this to the authorities! I really don't know why the pastries were poisoned!" His eyes were full of fear and helplessness.

The Ghost Doctor said in a deep voice, "You stay here and guard this place. I'll go and search the surrounding area."

Xu Yuehuai tried to stop him, saying, "I'll go instead. After all, my kung fu is a bit better than yours."

After she finished speaking, she began searching the backyard alone. She meticulously searched every corner, determined to find the hidden murderer. However, things weren't so easy to resolve; she searched for a long time without finding any trace.

Where exactly did this person hide?

The restaurant isn't that big; he couldn't have escaped so quickly.

There doesn't seem to be any damage around here, so that person couldn't have escaped through the backyard wall.

So where exactly should we look? And how can we find this person?

Xu Yuehuai searched for a long time but couldn't find the so-called Chef Wang. She was getting a little frustrated, but she had no choice but to continue searching.

After searching for a long time, she finally found something unusual near a secluded stable.

The soil there appeared to have been disturbed, and some bloodstains remained on it. Xu Yuehuai was startled and quickly dug away the soil, only to find a corpse right in front of her.

"You two come here."
