Chapter 1124 Tranquil Times

Bai Yu shook his head slightly, insisting, "I still have the strength. As long as you are well, that's enough. I'll brew another dose of medicine for you to consolidate the effect." After saying that, he went back to work.

Xu Yuehuai watched Bai Yu's retreating figure, a sense of apology welling up in her heart.

Her lips were dry and her mouth parched. She struggled to sit up, her eyes shining with gratitude, and said softly, "Your Majesty, my injury is nothing serious, just a superficial wound. You don't need to go through all this trouble."

Bai Yu put down the medicine spoon in his hand, turned to face Xu Yuehuai, his eyes as deep and unfathomable as a pool, as if he could see through everything.

He whispered, "Yuehuai, there's no need for thanks between us. No matter when or where, I will protect you."

Days passed like flowing water, and Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu lived together in a small wooden house, relying on each other for survival.

Every morning, Bai Yu would get up early and go out to find food and herbs.

He was agile and always managed to bring back prey and rare herbs.

Xu Yuehuai rested quietly indoors, her body weak but her heart filled with hope.

Although the two were taciturn, their tacit understanding deepened. Whenever Bai Yu returned, Xu Yuehuai would always greet him with a radiant smile, take the prey, and prepare a meal for him with great care.

As time passed, Xu Yuehuai's injuries gradually healed, and she began to try to leave the cabin and explore this unfamiliar world. Bai Yu, however, remained by her side, protecting her safety.

The two strolled hand in hand through the woods, admiring the wonders of nature and enjoying a rare moment of tranquility.

...

One day, as the sun set and its afterglow bathed the earth, Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu sat in the open space in front of the wooden house, enjoying the tranquility.

Xu Yuehuai suddenly asked, "Bai Yu, can you tell me your true identity? I always feel that you are not the Bai Yu I first met."

Upon hearing this, Bai Yu remained silent for a moment, then slowly raised his head, looking at Xu Yuehuai with deep eyes.

He took a deep breath and said, "Yuehuai, I cannot reveal this matter for the time being."

Upon hearing this, Xu Yuehuai had some doubts, but she did not pursue the matter further.

However, the peaceful days did not last long.

"Knock knock knock!"

One morning, Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu were still asleep when a series of urgent knocks broke the silence.

Xu Yuehuai woke up with a start and turned to look at Bai Yu.

Bai Yu quickly stood up, holding a long sword, and cautiously walked towards the door.

"Who is it?" Bai Yu asked in a deep voice.

"Open the door!" a rough voice came from outside.

Xu Yuehuai's heart tightened, and he secretly thought that these people might be local bullies.

Bai Yu gripped his longsword tightly, gently pushed open the door, and saw several burly men standing outside, their faces fierce.

"Who are you? Why are you here?" Bai Yu asked coldly.

"We are the overlords of this place. We heard that beautiful women live here, so we have come to pay a visit," one of the burly men said arrogantly.

Upon hearing this, Bai Yu glared angrily and shouted, "This is our residence. You shall leave at once, or don't blame me for being merciless with my sword!"

Upon seeing this, the burly men roared in anger, drew their weapons, and menacingly approached Bai Yu.

Bai Yu gripped his longsword tightly, his eyes resolute and calm. He knew he had to be careful and not let these thugs harm Xu Yuehuai.

He quickly retreated a few steps, leading the battle to an open area away from the wooden house, so as to prevent the innocent Xu Yuehuai from being caught in the crossfire.

"Want to oppose us? Prepare to die!"

Seeing this, the burly men were even more enraged. They roared and charged at Bai Yu, brandishing their weapons.

Bai Yu moved with agility, his longsword dancing in his hand like a silver dragon. He would leap up and dive down, each swing precise and powerful.

Although the burly men were numerous, they gradually became overwhelmed by Bai Yu's fierce attacks.

"Hehehehe, little beauty, we're here!"

"I hope you didn't have to wait too long!"

"Hahaha! We're going to have a good time later!"

However, just as Bai Yu was engaged in a fierce battle with the burly men, several cunning bullies took the opportunity to bypass the battlefield and quietly approach the wooden house.

Their eyes gleamed with lewd light; they clearly intended to take advantage of the situation to break into the wooden house and harass Xu Yuehuai.

Bai Yu caught this scene out of the corner of his eye, and his heart tightened, realizing something was wrong.

He knew he couldn't afford to be distracted, or he might be defeated by these burly men. However, he also couldn't just stand by and watch Xu Yuehuai get hurt.

"call out--!"

Just then, a flash of cold light appeared, and Xu Yuehuai was already standing at the door of the wooden house.

She gripped a sharp dagger tightly in her hand, her eyes filled with icy coldness and murderous intent. She charged towards the thugs trying to break into the wooden house, the dagger gleaming coldly in the sunlight.

"Ah—" A scream rang out as a bully was stabbed in the thigh by Xu Yuehuai and collapsed to the ground in agony.

Seeing this, the other bullies took a few steps back in fear.

"Swish! Swish! Swish!"

But Xu Yuehuai gave them no chance to escape. She moved nimbly, like a cheetah weaving among the bullies, each move precise and ruthless.

Bai Yu was somewhat surprised to see this. He hadn't expected Xu Yuehuai to be so brave and decisive, stepping forward to protect him at such a crucial moment. A feeling of admiration welled up within him for Xu Yuehuai.

"Damn woman, how dare you hurt my brother! Die!"

At this moment, a burly thug roared and charged at Xu Yuehuai, brandishing his broadsword.

"Ha, I will not show mercy to those who hurt me."

Xu Yuehuai's eyes turned cold, and with a swift movement, she dodged the bully's attack. She seized the opportunity to stab the bully in the chest, but he blocked it with his arm.

"How could a little wench like you be a match for me?"

The thug grinned maliciously and forcefully pushed Xu Yuehuai away.

Xu Yuehuai staggered a few steps, barely managing to regain her balance. She took a deep breath, composed herself, and prepared to face the bully leader once again.

Seeing this, Bai Yu couldn't help but feel worried. He knew that although Xu Yuehuai was brave, she was, after all, a woman, and her strength was certainly no match for these thugs. He was concerned that Xu Yuehuai would get hurt, so he decided to end the fight as soon as possible.

With a swift movement, he charged into the midst of the thugs. His longsword flashed, producing a series of whistling sounds as it cut through the air.

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!"

"Hey! Don't think you're our match, everyone, attack!"

The burly men were forced to retreat repeatedly by his fierce attacks, unable to get close.

"Yuehuai, come to me, I'll fight them with you."

Bai Yu seized the opportunity to come to Xu Yuehuai's side and fight alongside her.

With Bai Yu's help, Xu Yuehuai's pressure was immediately relieved. She glanced at Bai Yu gratefully, then focused even more intently on the battle.

The two worked together seamlessly and quickly routed the burly men.

In the end, only the local bully was left putting up a last-ditch effort. He brandished his broadsword and charged at Bai Yu and Xu Yuehuai, but was repelled by the two of them working together.
