Chapter 24 Surprising Discovery

Ye Shuning saw that there was actually a larger room behind the stone door. She shone her flashlight and found that at the end of the room there seemed to be an altar, on which was enshrined a stone statue that looked like a wolf.

There were things like plates and wine glasses on the altar, and next to the stone statue there was a square stone box with a lid. I don't know what was inside.

Suddenly she felt that the thing in the stone box seemed to be calling her, and she couldn't help but step forward and want to touch the stone box.

Ye Shuning shuddered and quickly stepped back away from the stone box. She felt that the stone box was a little strange.

Ye Shuning shone a flashlight around the room and found a number of wooden boxes in one corner. The boxes were covered in thick dust, and it was obvious that they had been stored there for many years.

She carefully walked over to the box, took out an emergency light, turned it on, and placed it on the wooden box. The room was now as bright as day.

Ye Shuning found that these wooden boxes were not rotten or decayed at all and were intact.

She took out a wet rag and wiped the dust off a box. Looking carefully under the light, she found that the material of these boxes was definitely not ordinary wood.

The box was dark brown in color, and the natural wood grain showed it hadn't been painted. It also seemed to have a pleasant fragrance.

Ye Shuning suddenly thought of a wood that looked very similar to the material of this wooden box. Could it be agarwood? Otherwise, how could these wooden boxes still be intact after so many years?

The more Ye Shuning thought about it, the more excited she became. In the future, agarwood would be as valuable as gold. The original owner of this place had truly been generous in crafting wooden boxes out of agarwood.

Ye Shuning didn't think about it anymore. She opened a wooden box directly because it was not locked. Then a light flashed, and it turned out to be a box of gems of various colors, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires. Ye Shuning was stunned and her breathing became rapid.

Although she initially thought the box might contain treasures, she didn't think it was so exaggerated. The entire box was filled with gems.

Ye Shuning opened another box, which contained various gold cups inlaid with gems. She opened several boxes in succession, which contained silver cups, ivory cups, jade cups and cups made of various materials.

These cups are probably used for drinking or drinking water. It's obvious that these are not for ordinary wealthy people, but for the royal family or aristocracy.

Ye Shuning opened another box and found jewelry made of gold, silver, jade, and other materials. Although these jewelry styles were relatively simple, they were all good things, and the most important thing was their historical value.

She also found a lot of turtle shells, bones and other things with patterns engraved on them in a box.

She picked up a piece of tortoise shell and saw that it had not only patterns but also what appeared to be text. Although she couldn't understand it, she felt that perhaps it recorded the history of this city. She must preserve it, perhaps it would one day be published.

Under normal circumstances, she would have handed these things over, but in this era, if she did so rashly, not only would she risk her own life, but whether these things could be preserved properly was another matter. So she could only keep them for herself for now.

Ye Shuning was underground now, and fearing any accidents, she didn't open the boxes one by one. She placed them in a room in the research institute and would check them when she had time.

After putting away more than a dozen wooden boxes, there was nothing else in the room except the things on the altar.

Ye Shuning turned around and collected all the cups and plates on the altar. These were all made of gold and could not be left behind.

She looked at the remaining stone box hesitantly, but finally she couldn't resist her curiosity and opened it carefully.

Inside the box was a black crystal the size of a watermelon. It looked crystal clear under the light and emitted a faint glow.

Before Ye Shuning could make any move, the crystal stone suddenly flew up by itself and headed straight for Ye Shuning's face.

Ye Shuning couldn't dodge the crystal in time. The moment it touched her, it vanished. It seemed to have entered her body. This frightened Ye Shuning. Could this crystal be some monster trying to absorb her energy and kill her?

Suddenly, Ye Shuning sensed the existence of the crystal again. She entered the research institute with a thought and found the crystal in the fountain pool in front of the institute's office building.

She didn't know why the crystal entered her laboratory space on its own and fell into the fountain pool, but she didn't touch it again.

She turned around and suddenly found that the cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and other vegetables in the flower bed were full of fruits. She had just checked yesterday and saw that these vegetables had just grown short. How come they had become like this now?

She went to the small garden to check and found that the crops in the small garden were almost ripe. The fruit trees in the small orchard were also full of fruits. Although they were not yet ripe, they were almost there.

Even the trees that were left behind had grown much more lush. The changes in these plants were enormous.

Ye Shuning felt that these changes were most likely caused by the crystal. Could it be that it itself contained the energy needed for this research institute's space?

Thinking of this, Ye Shuning decided to leave the crystal stone in the fountain pool. She would study it later when she had time.

Ye Shuning did not waste any more time and checked the basement under the ancient city ruins again. Not finding anything special, she returned to the ground.

She was afraid that if the basement collapsed and buried her alive, it would be terrible.

Ye Shuning returned to the surface and pulled the copper ring again. The stone slab at the basement entrance returned to its original position. Ye Shuning then covered the stone slab with some yellow sand.

After this astonishing discovery, Ye Shuning became even more interested in searching for ancient city ruins in the desert. Finding treasures wasn't always a given, but a new discovery was welcome. Just think of it as a journey.

So Ye Shuning decided to walk deeper into the desert.

Ye Shuning was standing in the ruins of the ancient city when she suddenly found snowflakes falling from the sky. She stretched out her hand and a snowflake fell on her glove. She was very curious about the crystal clear snowflakes.

In her previous life, Ye Shuning lived in Yunzhou City, which was located in the south and rarely snowed, so she rarely saw snow scenes.

The snow was getting heavier, and soon it was a heavy snowfall. It had been gloomy all day, and now it was evening. The temperature difference between day and night in the desert was huge. It was early spring, and it was still very cold in the north, so it wasn't surprising that it was snowing here.

Looking at the heavy snow all over the sky, Ye Shuning also felt cold. She decided not to leave this abandoned ancient city today.

Ye Shuning went straight into the research institute and returned to the dormitory. She took a shower and started to cook her dinner.

The temperature in the space was just right, and she could wear just one piece of clothing without any problem. She didn't feel cold at all and felt very comfortable.
